Our talks about "Modern" crap products...Yesterday, I chatted quite a while with our Mechanic.

While my Wife and I waited for a new battery to be delivered to the Shop. I flat out asked him.....What is THE best Vehicle out there. He just nodded his head in disgust and said........Mazda is one make he rarely sees but he does not know if it's because they are good or if there are just more other brands on the road. He said the days of calling Honda and Toyota the "Go to's" are gone. He said just about ALL cars are over priced / Technical junk. He told me a lot about how Dealers work......Any Corvette Owners on here?? Watch out! Parts are required to be on hand by Dealers for only 5 years for Vettes. He said EPA rules keep getting tighter and the Technology to make em work is getting more cheesy but VERY expensive.

What I heard yesterday was not very encouraging when I do buy another car. They have simply become RIP OFFS!

We wound up trading it in for a Dodge Caravan. DODGE CARAVAN!!! THEEEEE BIGGEST piece of absolute SH** of a vehicle I have ever had! It had three recalls within 10,000 miles, the power steering pump failed, the AC failed, the tail light lense literally just fell off, the power window on the passenger side (The one NEVER used) died THREE times. The final straw was when the front right brake literally broke apart. We got rid of that POS the very next day. ALL of that happened in 41,000 miles!

Try looking at a Nissan Frontier

Mind you, I've never bought a brand new car.... ever. But when I was looking, the Tacoma was my first choice too. Even used, you can look at them as 'holding their value' or just plain too expensive. Either way, they were more than I wanted to spend. I've always been more of a Chevy man (had been driving a S10 for about 14 years), so I was also considering the Colorado. I started to consider Nissan, because I often drove my girlfriends Nissan Altima(s).... she had bought 2 back to back. These little 4 bangers rocked (they make 4 cylinders so much better now). No, not high performance by any means... but certainly good enough. I drove those Altima's all over California. And liked it. Ended up finding a used 2013 Nissan Frontier Extended Cab with about 80K miles on it back in 2017. Still driving it today, and would take it anywhere without a worry. I really couldn't be happier with it. I keep it garaged (due to the San Joaquin heat). Change the oil, filters, and rotate the tires regularly, and that's it. I did change the shocks on it a couple years ago, but that was more of a 'want' than a 'need'.

The down side is... I've not needed to change the plugs on it yet, but YouTubed it once, and it does look like a friggin' ridiculous nightmare.

Anyways... just my 2 cents.
