End of summer grill cleaning....

broke it down, somewhat today. It's funny when the grill is new you keep it looking that way, but at some point it kinda goes..."well it's pretty clean, I'll hit it next time".....boom day to day goes the grilling and it gets coated with carbon and such stuff.

I have a gas grill, don't like the pain of charcoal, but gotta say that smokey flavor is very noticeable using it. I think the pilling, pushing lighting, placing is a bit much. The price of gas has gone up..used to be 10-12 bucks...now it's closer to 20......LOL...wonder why.....

At any rate the grill is cleaned up. We use it a lot...I mean like at times it's every day for weeks....don't see the need to heat up the house and I like tasting my bourbon and listening to my music as the grill goes pop..pop....pop.....with wiffs of smoke for a kinda show.

Mary did get me an air fryer and I'll tell you what that guy does some great wings and chops and corn on the cob....rivals the grill and it's easy to clean up after too...Oh yeah it makes some bad a$$ asparagus too......

Bring on the fall...my grill is ready...LOL.....The fire pit + the smells of food + the music + the beverages......The fall in NC...can't find a better place...no way........

I usually buy those cheap 2-3 burner grills for $95-$100 at Lowes or Walmart.

I don't do a whole lot of really greasy cooking on them . I make sure the grill itself is clean and I'm good to go. The life expectancy, regardless, is 2...maybe three years. I replaced the burners once and realized they were about a third to half the cost of a new grill. At the Fire Station?? I used to BABY our big stainless steel grill. I'd give it a once over every 3-4 months. Had to because of idiot Firemen that abused it.

15 years?...pay somebody to do it...LOL......

Can't really tell you because the material of the grill is dependent on how or if it can be cleaned. Cast iron grill can be cleaned with a wire brush, the inner basin..is it metal alloy, pot metal...etc. The outer surfaces are they porcelain covered or steel....a paint scraper (plastic or metal can make it easier to get off any deposits in/on the basin.

Is it to the point of rust on the surfaces? Overall I'd say use a wire brush and maybe a steel wool scouring pad on the inner areas, but make sure you clean well after to be assured that no metal wire bristles have been left behind...that can be deadly. Soap and water on the outer surfaces and finish with a cleaner described for your actual surface.
