Anthony Richardson?

This is thanks to the Ramblin Fan article posted by Rams43 in the Chronicles.

Before you flat out say no to Anthony Richardson, take a read of this article excerpt below:

While fans may not be moved at the prospect of trading for a tarnished veteran quarterback, Los Angeles has several reasons to weigh Richardson slowly and carefully. LA has yet to commit to a third quarterback. And the 2025 experience indicated just how fragile Stafford can be.

He missed all of training camp, then had an MVP season.

Gambling on Anthony Richardson could pay off big dividends

For the cost of a Round 6 or 7 pick, the LA Rams could add a once-promising quarterback with a cannon for an arm, and desperation to do well in the NFL for some team. Needless to say, LA's track record with Baker Mayfield, Carson Wentz, and even Jimmy Garoppolo raises expectations that even Richardson could regain his luster.

I say why not if they can get him for a Day 3 pick. Might be hard for Indy to awallow, though.

All very good questions

Quote
since68
I guess I was trying to say - how important are OL to the Rams in this draft?

I hate answering questions with questions, but to know this answer, we need to ask a few more questions. 1. How comfortable are the Rams with Jackson's blood clot issues? 2. Are they happy and confident in McClendon? 3. Are they planning on resigning either Dotson, Avila or both after next season? Just guessing, but I think they are good with Jackson, they like McClendon and only 1 of those 2 OGs are getting resigned. So this leads me to OT depth and a OG that adds depth for a year and has starter potential in year 2. If you draft Ioane, then you are conceding that 1 of the 2 OGs are gone. I don't think the Rams go OT in round 1 either since they like their starters.

Is WR more important than drafting a top OLman?

Again, more questions. How much 13 personnel are they planning on running? How much 11? Can the Rams rely on DA to stay healthy and effective at his age? I think the Rams are looking for a really good #3 that becomes a #2 after DA hangs them up. That's why I think 13 is in play or wherever they end up after a trade down. Lemon spooks me a bit, but he is a fit, Tyson's medicals also scare me, but without those issues, he is WR1 and by a bit. I think Boston and Cooper Jr. are amazing fits, and with a trade down, the Rams could add some more picks.

Are there enough good OLman to go WR/Sadiq at 13/trade back and get your OLman later?
The answer is yes, and I think the best value for OL in this draft is day 2 into day 3. So think rounds 2-5. IMO there aren't any generational OL in this draft, so don't force one at 13. Just my opinion.

And what about LBer?
I still think the Rams want to upgrade next to Landman, but unless Styles is sitting there, wait until later for a LBer.

What's more important (right now, before FA has played out) for the 2026 Rams . . .

. . . WR, LB, OL, CB, DI, ED, TE, other ?
I still think WR is tops, and considering the Rams have looked at AJ Brown, it feels like what I believe to be true is what the Rams believe to be true. CB is still a problem. It's McDuffie and Watson, with Forbes and LAmpkin behind them. They need at a min. 2 more from somewhere. OL is next, but it is depth for this year with maybe a starter spot at OG opening up next year. I think TE is a need with Higbee up in age and Parkinson with 1 year left and Allen is Just a Guy. DL depth is always a thing. I think EDGE is more important though. LBer is last, I think the Rams can get by with what they have and the limited number of picks they have. I'd list the order:
WR (WR3 that replaces DA in the not to distant future)
CB' (CB3 and CB5) I think Forbes could be a nice CB 3 or 4, he just isn't a 1 or 2.
OL (depth across OG and a swing OT)
TE (Depth for 3 TE sets that could replace Higbee)
Edge (depth, possible to replace Young if not resigned)
ILB (part time starter next to Landman, cover ability and STs a major plus)
DL (depth piece, run stopper preferred)

Yes, that was a $6M roster bonus that was part of the contract he signed with the Rams. The bonus was due on March 14, the 3rd day of the league year.

Roster bonuses are favored by players because it basically forces teams to take action on any plans to cut him early in the league year since teams wouldn't want to pay the roster bonus and then cut him.

Trading him is a little trickier because a team might choose to pay the roster bonus before making the trade just to increase the trade value of their player.

I don't believe for a second that the Rams are going to trade Adams - I'm just referring to his contract as an example here.

If the Rams did trade him before March 14 his new team would be on the hook for that roster bonus in addition to his $18M salary, but a trade after March 14 and the new team only has to pay his salary. Adams for 1 year at $18M is worth more on the trade market than Adams for 1 year at $24M.

Thanks, man!

I think its a trade down for WR or weapons (Sadiq)

We have more than a month to go here, but Tyson has moved ahead of Lemon for me. Only because Lemon is Puka just a bit faster but smaller. He is a football player and tough as nails... but I think Tyson fits the team better. Can play that X and slide right in full-time when Adams is gone next year. I would slide Boston right behind Tyson, and if the Rams also see it that way, they may trade down and covet the additional day 2 picks they potentially could pick up

I would rather not see the Rams draft another TE, but I get the skill and potential upside and wouldn't be surprised to see them grab him

I don't think the Rams grab the OL/T on the first round, but I could see them grabbing Avalia's replacement on day 2

But heck, what do I know? <shrug> I do feel like the Rams have an opportunity to grab a dynamic player at 13 and a really good player at 61

If the Rams drafted Styles at 13, I would fall out of my chair but wouldn't be angry... I just wouldn't expect it based on the Rams' having proven to be under McVay. The same goes for Love

Quote
since68

Re: Rams pay WR Adams a $6M bonus

Some of those guys mentioned, like Cooks were speed guys, Kupp was falling off #'s wise pretty fast. Adams offers up what none of the other WR offered...scores, he is a scoring machine. That in my opinion makes him more viable to keep rather than trade, even the guy from the eagles isn't in his class for what Adams gives.

Gurly was done, IMO he's healthy he isn't traded, Goff, not going there in fear of starting a Goff thread, but he went as far as he could here IMO.

Just last year they let Stafford shop around, and in 2022 were shopping Stafford to the Jets

One thing that is perfectly clear to me... is normally where there is smoke there is fire when it comes to the Rams and these kinds of leaks.

This team moved Cooks, Gurley, Goff, Jones, Woods, Kupp... who am I leaving off? lol

The Rams are all business... not sure why any of you would even doubt that Adams name would come up in trade discussions
