TexasRam weighs in on that final drive…

Here’s TexasRams…

Before Bradys first pass with 44 seconds to play and 60 yards to go with zero timeouts, Romo is heard saying you need sideline passes and a deep pass. You would think Raheem had some situational awareness have his guys cover the deep middle and sidelines. Same thing dungy pointed out. The defense completely played it wrong. They gave up both the deep middle and also the sideline multiple times. Then a pass interference and losing outside contain at the goaline due to a run fake.

Dungy pointed to scheme failure which is obvious for those that have ever seen this scenario at the end of the game. Montana used to run it to perfection and it’s been copied ever since the 1980’s.

Morris predictable soft zone scheme can work against most teams when our offense is scoring 30 per game, but it’s a train wreck right now and it should Never ever be used in that end of game scenario we just saw… 60 yards to go, 44 seconds and no timeouts.

That is the problem with Morris. He is sooooo slow to adjust his defense to opponent and scenario. And it happened twice in this game but we were lucky the first time the TD was dropped.

Don’t get me wrong the offense separately needs to be fixed but Morris scheme and inability to think on his feet is bad. It only works when you have a completely stacked defense such as the end of last year when 4 first ballot hall of famers could overcome his scheme.

This is not to say Kendrick isn’t a problem either. I think we all concede that the rookie isn’t helping either. He is getting destroyed weekly now.

agree 100%

It's a good (and flawed) defense. Not a great one and one that had a major meltdown on the final drive vs. Tampa.

Other season stats:
Yards/play- 12th
Rushing yards/attempt- 5th
Passing yards/attempt- 12th
Passing yards/completion- 8th
QB Rating- 18th
Scoring drives %- 14th
QB pressure %- 31st
TFL- 29th
Red Zone Scoring- 2nd
3rd Down %- 23rd

Clearly some good and some not-so-good in there. They are not getting enough pressure up front. Obviously. And being behind in games they are not able to just get after the passer as much as they did in 2021.

Personally I also like Kendrick and see nothing to complain about the kid so far. He was a 6th round pick. He's 2nd on the team in PD (4). Sure teams are going to pick on him and maybe he should not be playing 60 snaps/game at this point but he's getting valuable experience and I think is going to grow into a very good CB.

They cannot separate things. They have an agenda.
That agenda leads to posts that only attack Morris and never a single one
from any other board that thinks Morris is okay.

So, either they are a one-note board. Or we are getting things filtered by someone
with a clear agenda. The posts are 100% anti-Morris.

Gee, wonder what that agenda might be.

Truth is two things---the defense was blown on final drive and that's just a fact

However, "Morris predictable soft zone scheme can work against most teams when our offense is scoring 30 per game"

Totally false. And provably false.

The defense is better this year than last year and offense stinks, it is not scoring 30 a game.
By his logic the defense would be worse not better.

If it only works with a good offense why is it working now?

Rams defense is 6th in the NFL in fewest points allowed
[attachment 8481 2022-11-08_21-44-39.jpg]

Nott 28th, not 30th .Sixth.

That is without question a good defense overall. it is not
even debatable. 26 other teams' defenses allow
more points that the rams

8th in fewest yards allowed.
That is without question a good defense overall. 24 other
teams allow more yards than the Rams.

So, the question is can a good defense have a bad drive?
Of course. It's bad when it happens but it cannot, with any intelligence,
be used to indict the defense as a whole.

The big lie that people tell is that the defense is bad.
The defense is good and has been good. It's just not
the 2000 Ravens or the 49ers defense.

And it fell apart on the last drive. It's life, it's football.
That happens and it stinks. But for this poster to
translate a failed drive to condemning a successful defense
overall is the epitome of lacking fairness.

And the second lie people are telling is that the offense
played well enough to win. it didn't,

So when we get another post from another board that tells
one side of the story, it's easy to see that the Fire/hate Morris
agenda is strong and undeniable.

But, hey, what do I know, maybe after two years we will get a
single post that has an opposing view on Morris from that
board.

I am sure that will happen any day now.
