As we get to the 4th round and later, maybe some of them towards the end of the season see the field after a dozen games to develop.

6th round and UDFA, generally little chance to see the field the 1st year. Second year, a few of them will be role players and contributors, maybe a starter or 2 out of the bunch.

Draft, stash and develop is the plan for the later draft picks, and they choose them based on a role they see for each player. They give those players time and good coaching. And, they don't tend to pick the spectular athletes and household big names taht the media plays up; they pick the guys that are the Rams mold. And, it works.

It's the only way eff them picks works when you are constantly trading away your top picks. So, the Rams are especially good at those mid-round and late picks. I still think this is our reward for those horrible years in Stl. We've gone from a laughing stock example of how to not run a franchise to the model of excellence we see now and every team wants to emulate..but can't.
