Williams and the story of his new contract

So, this has had me thinking for awhile now..... and after posting this I'll eat crow as a new deal with Williams will instantly be announce by the Rams!!

However, I'm wondering if the Snead stories of hoping to get a new deal done with Kyren are slight smoke screens. I like Kyren, bar a few untimely fumbles, he brings a top level RB to the Rams backfield................... as long as your prepared to forgo long explosive runs. Is he a back I'd like to have on the Rams, sure. Do I think McVay loves having him as the pulse of the RB room, definitely. So I also think McVay wants a more explosive option, definitely yes from what's been said since the end of the season.

But, also on the eve of an absolutely fantastic draft for RB's, would it make sense to stall a new deal for Kyren until after the draft. For me, absolutely, this would make sense. What if the Rams are able to add for a lower round pick one of the more interesting RB's, either a more physical runner and or an explosive type. Would the pause button be pushed for this season on a new deal or at least of a lower value maybe?

FAir deal now, or fair deal later. Ball is in Rosenhaus' court; Snead will be perfectly content to let him stew in his own juices.

Agreed

I suspect the Rams don't want June to roll around and then they realize they can't come to terms with Williams. It's too late for Plan B then! But at this point I bet they know where the negotiations are headed.

If they have a bad feeling about the direction they can draft his replacement on April 24.

If they are making progress then maybe they simply draft a RB3 in the later rounds who can bring some much needed speed to the RB room.

IDK...IMO too many people think in terms of smoke screens.....

fake outs etc. Why can't it just be what it is...they are looking into extending him and are talking to his agent about it. That's it...it's not to make teams think this or that.....IMO too many just like playing secret agent/spy ring type stuff.

It's OK of course, but many times I think fans tend to over think actions or non actions into becoming some sort of under the table plan to disrupt other teams.....personally I think the guy deserves a reup...RAMS have been looking for a RB since Gurleys knee, and the guy has responded very well IMO.....He gets some unbelievable yards at times, and I really can't think of many times he's stacked behind the line....less then the fingers on 1 hand.....add to that his energy level is past crazy......
