I've felt like a man beating on a tin drum for years.

The level of outright cheating in that Super Bowl was hard to overcome. It was layered and redundaant.

The slight edge it takes to slant an outcome so that just a handdful of teams each week score over or under the spread is a foece multiplier worth into the billions of gambling dollars by season's end. There is more money changing hands over NFL football, one might imagine, than in the awarding of a defense contract in wartime.

Tagliabue sold the NFL to Vegas.

It's all about the money. Especially when you are talking about BILLIONS of dollars! With that much money involved it's not too hard to question some of the league's motives.

The burning of the tapes was what did it for me. That told me it's "Protect the Shield" at all costs.

There is no doubt in my mind that it would "advantageous" for the league if certain teams win at certain times.

Like the Pats winning after 911.
Like having the Rams win a SB in LA.
Like Tom Brady winning another SB in Tampa.

Sometimes it might be to "punish" some teams/coaches/owners too instead of helping them. The no call in New Orleans would be an example of that I don't think it was to help our Rams. The league just didn't want to see New Orleans in the SB, IMO. lol

Is every game "fixed"? I doubt it. Are"some" games "influenced" by questionable calls. Maybe that guy gets a marker if you think he helped you. Maybe he finds his way into some luck in the future.

I don't believe in scripted sports. I know how good football players are. I know that a game of inches cannot be controlled to that extent.

Some will say that there are coincidences between teams that win and things going on in the world ... I get that. But that's unconscious bias. You don't need it to be planned. Drew Brees winning after Katrina. Tom Brady in Tampa home game. Patriots after 9-11. Giants taking down the Pats after their undefeated season ... you can't fake the David Tyree play. But you can keep it close.

The discussion is being held because even after many, many years in where people refused to entertain such questions or hold those conversations the topic has evolved. Things are now to the point where it's virtually impossible to ignore and increasingly obvious something is not completely above board is taking place in the NFL. Power and greed tend to corrupt things, bad men & women do exist and the NFL is a HUGE big money entertainment platform that is heavily wagered upon.

Rigged, slanted, scripted, bought & paid for refs or whatever you wish to call it... clearly something is not right/amiss with that NFL. It has become so over the top obvious for several years now that even casual fans who would never otherwise notice nor question such things much less wish to think that their favorite sport may be compromised are asking a lot of questions and finding more support, video, circumstantial evidence and agreement of potential foul play.

SB 36 and the NFL's subsequent cover up remains a generational sore point for many Rams fans. The persistent and timely poor officiating that the NFL is plagued with yet seems completely uninterested in addressing is yet another source of major annoyance. Then the constantly changing NFL officiating rules allowing for even more personal subjectivity in officiating calls/decisions pours more fuel on those fires. It certainly does not help the NFL's cause when every once-in-a-while a frustrated or disgruntled player or coach blurts out something related to these questions that the NFL frowns upon. Then that voice is silenced. Sounds familiar to like how many Rams players and coaches felt about SB 36 but then were hesitant/nervous to discuss in public. That has played out in many interviews over the years. It's clear several felt something fishy took place in that game but were under pressure not to say anything/discuss in public. I saw a fairly recent interview with Martz that was a good example. He clearly thought something was off that games but uncomfortable discussing it. Faulk has usually been the most vocal about it and he's now not in great standing with the league over some accusations. Warner almost always seemed controlled and frightened about discussing the subject in public. He still draws large checks from league related activities as an analyst and show host so he has a lot to lose.

SB 36 is burned in every long-time Rams fans psyche.
It was quite clear almost from inception that something fishy went on in that SB. Yet, FOR YEARS/decades plus many, including Rams fans from boards just like this one, would not consider much less believe something untoward went on in that game.

Looking at the world around us, there is no shortage of naivete, gullibility and lack of discernment. Much of it on display in plain sight virtually every day.

They almost seemed like they were acting or reacting according to a script at times. Like a soap opera or movie drama, LOL. I recall it just recently in the Steelers and Cowboys games.

The scripts are more difficult to prove and imagine but some players have made references to it over the years. Clearly the timely game-changing calls by the refs that take place over and over, year after year points to some type of nefarious manipulation/intervention.
