Time to check out Dotson?

See what he brings to the line? He's been here a few weeks to get acquainted and understand the concepts. He's from that division, he knows the players on those D's we are facing one of them with the bengals. He's big in stature, we'd have 2 320 + guards on that line along with Havs.....

Our poundage would go up, I think our mauling could be improved and size brings than in most cases. With Boom out already would it be that big of a deal to go from Anchrum to Dotson? IMO it wouldn't be considered an overhaul it's still the 1 spot.

Or maybe both. (Other than that I can't even make up a reason why he wouldn't already be out there.)

What would you say next, that you really don't care - put him in anyway?

I'm willing to assume that Dotson isn't playing because the staff thinks he's not ready, or the staff thinks he's not one of the 5 best OL. (Or maybe both.)

But to be perfectly honest I think the Rams traded for Dotson because they think he's starter material. And if that's the case then it makes sense to me that he isn't playing because he's not yet prepared to play.

Maybe Monday night he'll get his shot. I would be happy to see him out there and if that happens I hope he owns the RG spot and keeps it for the next 10 years,

Frankly, I expected Boom to do worse. He exceeded my expectations, such as they were.

And yes, the dropoff didn't occur strictly because of the personnel change. And yes, I think Boom wouldn't have whiffed on Stafford's sack.

If Dot had arrived in camp and had practice snaps with his team and new coaches, he'd be in a different place than he is now - trying to develop as a starter between games on limited practice time.
I gotta disagree.....

it's nothing to do with my evaluation of 1 man over another vs. what the staff says. That has no meaning. it wouldn't have any effect. However changing out 1 guy for another can do that. That is why I want to see what he can do, as a fan I am wanting more out of that run game, I see a guy who is big, big body and think that body mass can have an influence on moving people, or help a guy go down hill. You could literally say that at every spot on the team..what a fan says or thinks vs. the coaching staff....They choose a Woolford at QB and for me to say I want to see somebody else with the response well, you just want to evaluate someone else, as though I know whats better than the coaching staff.

I am saying I have seen Anchrum and I want to see what Dotson offers. Is that me evaluating? Well to me it's me saying I want better push and more physical run game, so asking for Dotson. At this point Boom is not in the scene...hurt his shoulder who knows what happens next with him. And yes I did choose Anchrum over Boom, but it was because I thought Boom would get knocked out and he did. At the time to be fare we did not have Dotson or he was just picked up and didn't know the system...he does now (or hope he does) so I want to see him.

I like your statement: " I don't need the Rams to put Dotson in a game just so I can make my own evals."

I think our new OL cach and OC have a bigger say in who plays, etc. than their predecessors. McVay seems to be, after his post-season reflective sabbatical, more inclined to assign more responsibility to his subordinates - this frees him to do his thing, and have fun doing it.

That said, McVay isn't inclined to put players in until they're good and ready. It will take Dotson longer to get acclimated now than it would have in camp - the snaps aren't there. And until we clear the window of games that are crucial and situations thatballow for him to get the snaps he needs in game time, he won't get them. That is, barring injury and underwhelming performance of the player he would replace.

As to coaches decisions: Noteboom played better than the board's pick at RG, Anchrum. Boom did surprisingly well with run blocking (though I hope for bettter) and was solid in pass pro. It's a good thing they, and not we, made the call.

Coaches will have to juggle the conundrum of Noteboom's injury ups and downs vs.the quality of play of whoever will replace him. For now we have a known but lesser commodity in Anchrum and a potentially better but unproven one in Dotson.

I have to disagree about your assessment that Boom did surprisingly well at run blocking. I saw him making repeated whiffs and at times was pushed off balance and backwards in pass pro at times. So much so that I was fearful that he would get hurt.

Why did Rams struggle more in pass pro after Boom’s departure? Well, partly because 49ers started bringing 5 guys and partly because 49ers knew we had to pass more when we fell behind. It wasn’t strictly because Boom left the game. Although I will say that Anchrum embarrassed himself by ignoring that rusher who blew past him for the only sack. Sigh…

LOL.....hello Mr. Demby, and Mr. Evans....they were evaluated by the team. (were you not doing the same from your TV screen?) really don't you evaluate everything you see as the game progresses?

I'm just pushing rocks over because I see a running game that is not good enough to hold it's own, just trying out ideas that may put the team closer to the area of a whiners team. A team that can run or pass on their choosing for the most part.

Of course it's not my evaluation that counts, heck that doesn't count at all, but I can t my seat in my house come up with things that maybe can be considered.
