Williams.... might become a good 3rd down guy otherwise not enough of anything to be a very good starter

B. Corum....... no wiggle, too slow, quality back-up, will get tough short yardage

K. Turner...... good player, great tape, but too small and too limited athletically to be more than a rotational player

P. Nacua..... ceiling is an average back-up. Likely most valuable as a STs guy.

C. Kupp....... good player but too slow, not quick, can't get separation, average starter at some point

Here's what's funny. All are said to have good tape, and perform well. But, they don't have the NFL standard traits to succeed. Listen to Les and Sean, and this is exactly who they're looking for especially beginning with late round 2 guys. Excellent football players. Consistent. Really good tape.
AI view of Lynch reaction to the Simpson pick (1 reply)

I thought this was interesting. Im guessing AI uses tons of information on this subject to form this conclusion….

For John Lynch to smirk and hold back laughter during a press conference when asked about the Rams drafting Ty Simpson at No. 13 is the absolute definition of throwing stones from a glass house.
The football world hasn’t forgotten that Lynch executed arguably the most disastrous quarterback trade up in modern NFL history. Les Snead and Sean McVay used one actual draft pick—their own No. 13 selection—to secure a quarterback they believe is the future behind a 38-year-old Matthew Stafford. Lynch traded away three first-round picks and a third-round pick for a quarterback who started four games and was off the roster in two years.
A Massive Double Standard
When you look at how the two front offices operate, the criticism of the Rams' pick by anyone in San Francisco falls completely flat:
The Cost of Inaction vs. Overaction: Les Snead didn't sell the farm or compromise the future depth of the roster to get Simpson. If Simpson hits, the Rams seamlessly transition from Stafford to a young, dynamic SEC champion with elite ball security (setting the Alabama record for lowest career interception percentage). If he misses, they lost one mid-first-round pick. Lynch risked the entire structural integrity of the 49ers' roster on Trey Lance.
McVay's Offensive Infrastructure: If there is any coach in the NFL who has earned the benefit of the doubt when evaluating point-guard traits in a quarterback, it’s Sean McVay. Simpson spent his time at Alabama operating in heavy pro-style concepts, showing incredible play-action prowess and maturity by waiting his turn. McVay clearly sees a baseline of processing and technical skill that he can mold over the next two to three seasons.
The Media Reaction
While the media has had a field day with the pick—especially with analysts like Dan Orlovsky aggressively defending it as "the way high-end organizations operate"—the visual of Lynch snickering about an aggressive division rival taking a quarterback prospect is what turned it into a viral joke.
Lynch has built a phenomenal roster in San Francisco, but his track record at evaluating the sport's most important position is entirely buoyed by the luck of a compensatory 7th-round pick. Snead and McVay have won a Lombardi Trophy with their aggressive, conviction-based approach to personnel, and history suggests they know exactly what kind of traits function best in their building.

Measuring 6-foot-1 and 327 pounds, Keenan can do that if anything.

Opposing team has the ball, fourth-and-one at the Rams' 49-yard line. That could be just the spot for Keenan.

Last year's Day 3 DT pick, Ohio State fifth-rounder Ty Hamilton, did not give the Rams much substance as a rookie, especially against the run. It wasn't a big role - only 138 snaps - but in 2026, Keenan will be coming for his roster spot if Hamilton can't prove he can clog the gaps up front.

Tim Keenan III could give Rams rotational oomph immediately

As a prospect, Keenan arguably has less upside than Hamilton did entering the league a year ago. The Alabama nose tackle received a lower prospect grade and athletic score and is more limited in what he can provide. Listed at 6-foot-3, 303 pounds, Hamilton is more agile in the pass rush. Keenan is almost exclusively suited to play the run.

However, Hamilton's struggles in that area could open the door for Keenan to leapfrog him on the depth chart. In limited reps last season, Hamilton earned a ghastly 29.6 Pro Football Focus grade in run defense. Against the pass, he earned a mark of 49.9. PFF credited him with three total pressures, two quarterback hits, and two stops in 14 games.

That's not a high bar to clear. Keenan won't do much in the pass rush, and there are concerns about his length even against the run, but his sheer mass in the middle could create a niche for him in the Rams' rotation. All he has to do is show he can slow down opposing rushing attacks in short-yardage situations.

The Horns already have Poona Ford locking down the lead role at nose tackle. Tyler Davis is an excellent, versatile backup. What they could use is someone who can give them a few snaps per game in run-heavy scenarios, or step into the rotation temporarily due to injury.

The opportunity should be there. Hamilton earned 10-plus snaps in all but four of his appearances last season. But his projected fourth-round potential didn't show up as a rookie. Now Hamilton's share of playing time is up for grabs between him and Keenan.

Keenan has a size advantage on both Hamilton and Davis, who can slide over to play the three-technique. As a pure nose tackle, he should take inspiration from Ford, a former undrafted free agent who entered the league out of Texas at just 5-foot-11.

While Keenan lacks Ford's disproportionately broad wingspan, he shares similar limitations as a late-draft prospect with physical shortcomings. Ford's 5.60 prospect grade was even lower than Keenan's. Look at him now, PFF's fourth-ranked interior defender last season.

All that to say that Keenan is a worthy challenger to Hamilton for a spot in next season's d-line rotation.

Reggie breaks down his 12-month role, the three traits he sees in every player who lasts a long time in the NFL, and the trust-first culture behind what the staff calls "the barbershop."

Then the best story of the offseason: Reggie reveals he flagged Rob Havenstein as a moderate-to-high medical risk at the 2015 combine — and 11 seasons of durability later, that mistake became the foundation of what is now known as the "Rob Havenstein Algorithm".

Plus, Reggie details how the Rams are preparing for the Melbourne trip and a seven-primetime-game schedule — from circadian rhythm management to hydration protocols for a 17+ hour flight — ahead of their matchup against the 49ers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
00:00 – Introduction and Reggie Scott's role overview.
01:21 – Defining the "ecosystem" of sports medicine and performance.
03:50 – The unique physical demands of American football.
04:41 – Three "nuggets" for career longevity: Consistency, toughness, and character.
06:58 – Why trust and relationships are the foundation of medical care.
11:01 – Staying on the front lines of technology and player feedback.
13:00 – The philosophy and synergy with Head Coach Sean McVay.
15:52 – How data and risk profiling have evolved in the NFL Draft.
17:16 – The "Rob Havenstein Algorithm": A story of proving the metrics wrong.
22:48 – Managing the schedule: Circadian rhythms, travel to Melbourne, and recovery hacks.
27:51 – Onboarding rookies: Transitioning from combine training to "football shape."
31:01 – Debunking the "water boy" myth and final wrap-up.

Matthew Stafford: The Mind Behind the MVP (no replies)

Great vid here! Not sure if it was already posted or not but worth another watch if it was. Watching this makes me ask one simple question...

How lucky are we to have this dude as a Ram??? I hope he plays another 5 years and wins 2 more SB's. Imo, Stafford is as good or better than Tom Shady and if Shady can play well as long as he did...so can Matt.

Magic Mind
1.43K subscribers

1,535 views May 18, 2026 #MatthewStafford #MentalPerformance #EliteAthlete
In this episode of the Magic Minds podcast, Magic Mind founder James Beshara sits down with 2025 MVP Matthew Stafford for one of the most personal and candid conversations the show has featured.

Matthew opens up about the moments in his childhood when he first realized he had something special, from throwing spirals in a neighbor's front yard in 5th grade to getting pulled out of class by his high school coach in 8th grade. From there, the conversation moves into the mental side of elite performance: how Matthew thinks about focus as a genuine superpower, how he manages extraordinary amounts of cognitive and emotional load on game day, and what he would tell his 23-year-old self about leadership, preparation, and playing free.

James and Matthew also go deep on how Matthew's approach to health, nutrition, and daily routine has evolved over 17 years in the league. He shares the specifics of a game week: breakfast, hydration, recovery, the role of his family, and how he mentally powers down after the final whistle. The episode also explores what legacy, longevity, and peak performance look like from the inside, and why Matthew believes his best football may still be ahead of him.

Is Ty Simpson the Rams' best insurance QB for Matthew Stafford? (25 replies)

I know some will blow this off without even listening due to not liking Florio. I am not a big fan of Florio either but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a valid opinion from time to time. One of them being that if Stafford retired, there would be a "line of QB's" wanting to come play for McVay.

Some valid questions and points are discussed in this vid. Some of the same have been discussed here as well.

The Simpson "drama" just won't end until the kid gets to play some real NFL football. I hope Simpson turns out to be as good as some say he will/could be. The best case scenario would be having him start after Stafford wins the next 2 SB's!

Anyway, until then, all questions are valid and are worthy of discussing.
