Ranking Positions of Need (2 replies)

We're getting close to the draft now so I'm curious what the consensus is around here on positions of need. My own consideration of this has changed a lot since the Rams went nuclear on CB in FA. Which I am very happy about still by the way. But I figure this is a good time to take a last look prior to our big draft night where we're gonna actually pick. I hope at least. Even if it's after a move down.

So in doing this I am prioritizing by projected roles on the field and in number of snaps.

1. WR3. Rams ran a lot of 12 last season in part because the TE room kicked the WR room's butts in that competition for snaps. They offered hands and great blocking, vs a chunk of depth wideouts that were largely ineffective. Rams WR room was basically 2 deep. So they need that third heat. The third weapon who can add something to the attack. Also we can include Puka concerns and the slot role with his injury history on top of that as well. Are those TEs ready to move the chains if Puka misses many games? And lastly on top of all that we need speed in this offense. Way too much living underneath which you know irritates McVay. It is possible this is two separate needs, those being an X addition and also a depth option behind Puka.

2. ILB. I'm still annoyed they paid Landman. Who by the way took a bit of a nosedive after achieving that security. We still lack speed and tackling in space off ball. And it's a problem vs any running QB we face in particular. Off ball speed is a big need to my eye. Front seven needs wheels behind that DL.

3. NT. Ford did a great job for us last year but the moment he got hurt our DL looked like the same old unit who can be pushed around. We need young beef and that big anchor who can put Ford into the depth rotation and deepen our entire front in the playoffs.

4. Swing OT. We have a hole in our roster at this spot, and the reason it's more important than other depth positions is because it affects the QB. If we lose an OT we're done. I have gone back and forth on this one. It may be higher than 4 on our list. Rams may have it at the top in fact, depending on to what extent they trust their OTs.

5. C. Shelton can be isolated and beaten. This is a problem in the playoffs for the Rams. If he's gonna draw a nose solo he's gonna lose. We need a Center with some gravitas to him, who can remove the ability of a defense to go with a 5 man front and destroy our Center position in pass sets.

6. S. I don't know where they're planning on playing or utilizing Lake this year. Will he be in the pairing? Or will he be our slot and maybe with some matchups slide into a different role. But it feels like we could use a safety with real ball skills for the back end.

7. QB. Not a huge need. Rather a depth type QB who projects well to backup Stafford in this offense. Someone who can be a game manager with some spunk to them to give the team a competitive lift and some mobility if he misses time. There's a couple mid to late who I think fit real nice.

8. Returner. Massive need, but it's teams so have this on the bottom. It's been an issue a long time, but maybe this will be the year they earmark a returner in their depth types they take late.

Deadpool's 2026 Mock Draft 3.0 (final) (4 replies)

I decided 9 years ago I was going to change the way I operated as far as my half assed scouting. I would still do 3 mocks, but it would be post senior bowl, post combine, and pre-draft. The senior bowl answers some questions, like can a D2 player compete with the big guys. How do they handle a pro style offense? How do they interview? The combine can confirm some stuff you think you see or don't see, but the combine is more for the interviews, drug tests and weigh ins.

As with any mock some assumptions have to be made. Here are mine:
1. There will be trades in this draft. There is too big of a hole between the end of round 3 and the end of round 6
2.I'm going on the assumption that Stafford is back.
3. The Rams really filled in all the holes as far as needs. I still thing a WR3, an ILB to compliment Landman, CB depth and OL depth are needs, as is any position that helps STs.

The trade:
Rams Trade with the Lions.
Rams receive: 1-17, 4-118, 4-128, 5-157
Lions receive: 1-13, 7-251 and a 2027 day 3 pick.
Why do the Rams make this trade: Because Less Need hates large gaps between draft picks, and there is over 100 picks between round 3 and the end of round 6. This move gives the Rams picks in rounds: 1,2,3,4,4,5,6,7,7,7. That is more than enough for Less to trade around and do his thing. Also, maybe Tate and Lemon are gone, they don't like Tyson's medicals, so they don't reach and trade back.

Why do the Lions make this trade: They lost their starting LT when they let go of Taylor Decker. The Lions believe they are on the cust of a SB, but have no LT. The only LT that makes sense is Monroe Freeling. So in order to keep a team like Cleveland from getting him, the Lions move up, giving up only a couple of 4th and a 5th to move 4 spots.

1.17 Omar Cooper Jr. - WR- Indiana - 6'-0" 199 lbs. - He has experience in the slot and outside, is a good blocker in the run game and is a brute after the catch. Those vibes give off Kupp and Nacua qualities. Except Cooper has 4.42 speed. He can win on all 3 levels. 20 TDs in 2 years tells me he has a nose for the endzone.

Previous Pick (2.0): 1.13 Kenyon Sediq - TE- Oregon - 6'-3" 241 lbs. - I know what you all are thinking? Oh heck no. Just hear me out. With the Rams going more into 3 TE sets, the Rams are using alot less 3 WR sets. And with Higbee's uncertain future, you have Parkinson, Ferguson and Davis Allen, Allen is OK, but Sediq is a freak of nature. I think you could legit use him as a WR in 11 personnel as well. He's one of, if not the best blocking TEs in the draft as well. And we know the Rams wanted Bowers, and we know the Rams like Oregon TEs, they said as much. He is a nightmare on an offense with a ton of nightmares. Go get a WR later, knowing that next years WR class is stacked to the ceiling. I also think Delane is gone, McCoy has medicals and no other CB is worth 13. I am also assuming Tate is gone and Tyson has medicals. So with that said, its Sediq, Lemon or a trade down to get picks and better value. Since I'm not doing trades, lets go Sediq. Plus I am curious if heads explode lol. On Sediq himself, his film last year was better, so if you are looking at him, look at his whole body of work. But he is a size/speed matchup nightmare, he is a plus blocker, smooth route runner with strong hands and excellent after the catch. Megatron was 6'-5" 239 lbs and ran a 4.4 flat at the combine, Sediq is 6'-3" 241 lbs and ran a 4.39...Both are complete units.

Previous pick (1.0): Makai Lemon - WR - USC - 5'-11" 195 lbs. - Advanced route runner that specializes in creating separation. Knows where to find the soft spots in zone and dangerous with the ball in his hands. Tough and willing blocker in the run game. A dynamic weapon McVay will absolutely love. 4 drops on 170 targets throughout his college career...wow. I am still not sure on the fit with Lemon.

Who else makes sense:
Obviously Sadiq and Lemon make sense. If the Rams do trade down, Denzel Boston makes a lot of sense. Aveion Terrell as CB3 makes some sense. You also have a ton of OL, Caleb Lomu, Max Iheanachor, Blake Miller all fit the bill. Spencer Fano makes a bit of sense. I think both SAF would work as well, Thieneman and McNeil-Warren. Maybe a pass rusher like Mesidor.

2.61 Jake Golday - LB- Cincinnati - 6'-4" 239 lbs. - He slides into the spot next to Landman at some point while contributing on STs immediately. He has sideline to sideline to range, looks good dropping into zone coverage and can blitz from the middle or off the edge. He is patient, reads his keys and doesn't usually get caught out of position.

Previous Pick (2.0): Gennings Dunker - OL - Iowa - 6'-5" 319 lbs. - Forget the mullett, well, don't forget it. Just dive deeper, he was a stud at the Senior Bowl, looked good not amazing in drills at the combine. He is RT/OG at the next level. Arms a tad under the 34" threshold for OTs, but as a depth piece super sub and eventual starter, he fits what the Rams want, an absolute mauler that is looking to finish you and then flex over top of you. He is nasty as all get out. Iowa OL are always rock solid.

Previous Pick (1.0): Isaiah World - OT - Oregon - 6'-8" 318 lbs.- A mauler that needs technical refinement, but his size and athleticism can't be taught and has a finishers mentality.

Who else makes sense:
If the Rams don't go WR in round 1, Malachi Fields is a long X WR the Rams have been looking for. Skyler Bell has a lot of Omar Cooper Jr to his game, so he would work. Germie Bernard is also an intriguing fit. EDGEs like Malachi Lawrence and Derrick Moore work in the Shula system. CB3s like Keionte Scott and Davison Igbinosun would work.

I really wanted the Rams to end up with one of Chris Johnson, D'Angelo Ponds, J-Rod or Anthony Hill Jr., but in order to get one of those, it would take some trading up IMO.

3.93 Treydan Stukes – SAF – Arizona - 6’-1” 190 lbs. – Film junkie walk-on turned team captain. Fluid and fast, can play in the nickel or as a FS, split of single high. A tad lacking in the run defense department. He can literally play anywhere in the secondary witch makes him a very nice depth piece for the Rams. They will love his mental makeup as well as his on-field ability.

Previous pick (2.0): Ted Hurst - WR - Georgia St. - 6'-4" 206 lbs. - A long, fast X WR that showed out at the Senior Bowl, then wowed at the combine, he has an advanced release package and amazing hands. There could be some growing pains early, but he looks like a field stretching fit with size that the Rams currently do not have. He needs to play more physical, but Coach Woods and Puka will teach him that for sure.

Previous Pick: Bud Clark - SAF - TCU - 6'-1" 185 lbs.- He's a ballhawking SAF that just makes plays on the ball in zone coverage. Needs to get stronger/bigger for the NFL, but he is a sure tackler. A 3 time captain and was in the Senior Bowl. In short, a Rams type of guy.

Who else makes sense:

LB Kyle Lewis as a cover LBer with STs ability would be a nice fit here.
Romello Height is a smaller EDGE that is an absolute speed demon that would add some juice to the Rams pass rush.
Lance Bryce a long, playmaking WR from NDSU that plays the X. Josh Cameron a beefy WR that plays alot like Puka as far as physical toughness and strong hands with only 1 drop last season. Punter returner as well.
Darrell Jackson a run stuffer DT from FSU would look good in the middle of the Rams DL. Domonique Orange is a run stuffer that further locks up the interior run defense.
OCs like Lew, Hecht and Jones could be in play here.
Edge Keyron Crawford is an Auburn edge with a ton of upside. He is probably on the Rams radar.
Austin Barber OT from Florida is a nice swing OT that would add nice depth with starting upside down the road.
Sam Roush is a big inline TE that can actually block and works the intermediate part of the field well.

4.118 Dametrious Crownover – OT – Texas A&M – 6’-7” 319 lbs. – Great size, good athlete, former TE, so a bit raw technique-wise. Needs to get stronger. Developmental type prospect. This might be a bit of a reach, but knowing the Rams, they could move back a touch and still land him. He has the size, length and athletic traits that translate really well to the next level. A RT with 1 LT start, he could be a really nice swing tackle with starter upside after a year.

4.128 Landon Robinson – DL – Navy – 5’-11” 293 lbs. – Quick, strong and under-sized. Reminds me of someone. Won’t be out-leveraged or out-worked. Size can work against him against the run. he is a culture fit and can work up and down the line as a nice depth piece. He's a team captain and AAC def. player of the year.

Who else makes sense:
Charles Demmings- a smaller school CB with excellent size, he crushed it at the Senior Bowl. Ephesians Prysock and Julian Neal are also nice fits at CB.
QBs Taylen Green and Cole Payton are in this range if you want a pure upside QB.
OTs JC Davis and Trey Zuhn III also work, but for different reasons. Davis is a swing tackle, Zuhn is moving inside, so he has interior super sub upside with OC starter ability in a year.
LB Bryce Boettcher would be a really nice ST and LBer depth piece.

5.157 Mason Reiger – EDGE – Wisconsin – 6’-5” 251 lbs. – Explosive pocket collapser with a nice array of pass rush moves. Needs to get stronger for run defense. His motor and work ethic are top tier and he has the frame to carry 10 more lbs. easily to become an all-around 34 EDGE. He even reduced inside on some passing downs.

6.207 J. Michael Sturdivant – WR – Florida – 6’-3” 207 lbs. – Size/speed/athletic traits that wins deep, contested situations and over the middle. Poor route runner and lacks production for his profile. The Rams seem to be speaking to every big WR in the draft, so I am convinced the Rams walk away from the draft with a 6'-2" plus WR. Sturdivant is a Big, long fast deep threat that needs to learn how to be a professional route runner.

Previous pick (2.0) Ephesians Prysock - CB - Washington - 6'-3" 196 lbs. - A long zone CB that has plenty of upside, he could replace Witherspoon as the Rams bigger CB. He tested really well at the combine, and was solid at the Senior Bowl. Not a bad option for a CB 4 or 5 depending on free agency.

Previous Pick (1.0): Desmond Reid - RB - Pitt. - 5'-8" 175 lbs. - Undersized, but lightning quick and sub 4.4 speed. Is an excellent pass catcher and an electrifying return man. His size is what holds him back. He can line up anywhere and is a HR threat. WR, RB, Return man.

7.232 Micah Morris – OG – Georgia – 6’-5” 334 lbs. – Absolute powerhouse in a mountain of a frame. Surprisingly athletic. Plays way too upright to put it all together. The Rams need some depth along the interior line and Morris is a beast. He has played both LG and RG, so that is a serious plus for a guy trying to make the roster. He is in serious need of technical refinement, but you cannot teach his size, power and athleticism.

Previous pick (2.0) Cole Wisniewski - SAF - Texas Tech - 6'-3" 214 lbs. - He was a stat stuffer at SAF for NDSU that transferred to Texas Tech and played very well. He's better around the LoS as a run enforcer and coverage, but has the range to play in a split SAF look as well. Rams could use some SS depth with the impending loss of Curl. He fits the bill to a T.

Previous Pick (1.0): Patrick Payton - EDGE - LSU - 6'-6" 255 lbs. - a long, bendy, high motor edge rusher that has a non-stop motor and is excellent in backside pursuit. He lacked sack production this year, his get off isn't exactly explosive. Can play up or down. Nice developmental piece.

7.252 Andre Fuller – CB – Toledo – 6’-1” 200 lbs. – Good size and length for a zone scheme, solid tackler. Lacks the speed to stick tight in man coverage deep. Shrine Bowl only. Rams need at least in their secondary as of right now. Fuller along with Stukes is a pretty solid combo. Fuller can be brought along slowly as a CB4/5 type with CB3 upside.

Previous pick (2.0) - Xavian Sorey Jr. - ILB - Arkansas - 6'-3" 225 lbs. - Ultra athletic and excellent in coverage. Goes sideline to sideline with ease and has plenty of ST upside. A STer and a LBer that can cover TEs and RBs is just what the Rams need.

As you can see, I set out to do 3 things here:
1. Improve the secondary, esp. the CB room. I added a CB and a safety/nickel/CB.
2. Fix the STs. I think I accomplished that. No dynamic returners, but players that work coverage and return units.
3. Add some speed and playmaking ability to the offense. They have route runners, they have size and toughness, they lack HR ability and danger in the open field, I think I fixed some of that with Cooper Jr and Studivant.
4. I filled the weakest link on defense with Golday moving next to Landman.
5. I added 2 OL, both with left/right flexibility. With 4/5 of the OL FAs after the season, they need developmental pieces. I added that.
6. I added a penetrating DL and an EDGE that can get bigger and stronger while still giving the team a pass rush boost.

What I missed on:
A run stuffer NT. There were options at pick 29 and the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but I bypassed them to accomplish my 3 goals. Kayden McDonald and Lee Hunter at the end of round 1 work well, but I just don't value run stuffers in round one, unless they are elite talents and have some pass rush juice. Domonique Orange at the end of round 2 would be another name.

I really wanted an OC. Conner Lew from Auburn will need a redshirt, but he's a rock solid fit in the Rams scheme. Jake Slaughter from Florida somewhere in day 2 fits. Logan Jones would be the target at OC for me in round 4. I just love Iowa OL and he's pretty rock solid at 6'-4" 303 lbs., but needs to get stronger.

No TE, QB or RB this go around. I just always had a better option when I picked. I think a TE is absolutely a possibility, esp. in rounds 1 or 2 (Sadiq or Stowers)

Anyhow, thanks for reading, questions, comments and thoughts are always welcome.

Deadpool's 2026 Big Board by Position List - Offense (no replies)

These are my final positional rankings. Some of these guys could end up on 2 lists OT/IOL.

I put this is in a separate post from my Big Board to make it easier to ask and answer questions, but if the admins want to join them, I do not care.

I will put my own thoughts under each position as far as depth and what I think of some of the prospects.

And just for R2K, I will throw in lines where there are tier breaks. Not all tiers are created equal, so keep that in mind.

QB:

1. Fernando Mendoza – QB – Indiana – 6’-5” 236 lbs. – Prototypical size, good arm, can keep the play alive with his legs or get first downs. Leader and accurate. Nothing elite traits-wise.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

44. Ty Simpson – QB – Alabama – 6’-1” 211 lbs. – Accurate, can go through progressions, can win with his legs, what I consider a mobile pocket passer. Under-sized with just an average arm.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

95. Garrett Nussmeier – QB – LSU – 6’-1” 205 lbs. – Undersized pocket passer who is the son of a coach and understands defenses and is accurate. Played all season with an injury that caused pain every throw he made. Lacks ideal size/weight/arm strength.

116. Carson Beck – QB – Miami – 6’-5” 233 lbs. – Prototypical size with an NFL arm. Experienced and can get through progressions. Turnover machine when the pressure is turned up.

119. Cole Payton – QB – NDSU – 6’-3” 233 lbs. – Dual threat QB, that can win with his arm or legs. Lefty with accuracy. Only 1 year as a starter. FCS competition level leaves some questions.

126. Taylen Green – QB – Arkansas – 6’-6” 227 lbs. – Highly athletic, fast dual threat QB. Big arm, great size for the position. Accuracy is not up to NFL standards.

163. Cade Klubnik – QB – Clemson – 6’-2” 207 lbs. – Mobile pocket passer that needs to add some strength. Sound fundamentals. Ok accuracy. Progression speed is slow.

179. Drew Allar – QB – Penn State – 6’-5” 228 lbs. – Big framed, big armed, yadda yadda. Christian Hackenberg vibes, cannot process, telegraphs deep balls. Injury concerns.

231. Sawyer Robertson – QB – Baylor – 6’-4” 216 lbs. – Prototypical size with a good arm, pocket passer that can extend plays with his legs. Accuracy is poor.

Awful class. Its Mendoza, who gives me Matt Ryan vibes with a stronger arm. After that, its a mess. I do like Payton, even with 1 year as a starter, he did play in sub packages for 3 years. I like Gren's physical attributes, but his accuracy is still an issue. Nussmeier is small, but he played through an injury all season that made it painful to throw every pass. He could be a sleeper. I really want no part of this class. unless Simpson drops until the bottom of the 2nd.

RB:

3. Jeremiah Love – RB – Notre Dame - 6’-0” 212 lbs. – HR hitter speed with good vision and great contact balance. Not a pile pusher.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

55. Jadarian Price – RB – Notre Dame – 5’-11” 203 lbs. – Light on his feet with excellent vision and a smooth mover. KO returner. Average speed, not a great pass catcher.

77. Mike Washington Jr. – RB – Arkansas – 6’-2” 228 lbs. – Size/speed HR hitter with one cut and gone ability. Fumbles are a real concern.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

94. Emmett Johnson – RB – Nebraska – 5’-10” 202 lbs. – A north/south 1 cut and go back and a solid pass catching option. Speed and power are average at best.

113. Jonah Coleman – RB – Washington – 5’-8” 220 lbs. – In a word: reliable. In pass pro, doesn’t fumble, gets the yards he is supposed to. Not a physical runner for his size.

127. Seth McGowan – RB – Kentucky – 6’-0” 223 lbs. – Between the tackles, pile mover. Good contact balance and is a patient runner. Not a HR hitter, fumbles a bit of an issue.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

148. Kaytron Allen – RB – Penn State – 5’-11” 216 lbs. – Scheme diverse, good contact balance, solid vision. Lacks speed/burst to create explosives.

152. Le’Veon Moss – RB – Texas A&M – 5’-11” 203 lbs. – Solid pop into contact and seems to gain yards after contact. Below average size and long speed.

158. Nicholas Singleton – RB – Penn State – 6’-0” 219 lbs. – A size/speed back that either lacks instincts or vision to create explosives.

174. Demond Claiborne – RB – Wake Forest – 5’-10” 188 lbs. – Slippery Porsche engined whirlwind. Can’t work between the tackles, no 3rd down value.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

187. J’Mari Taylor – RB – Virginia – 5’-10” 199 lbs. – Weirdly enough, a small power back that can gain tough yards with some long speed. Not a fluid runner and a subpar pass catcher.

190. Kaelon Black – RB – Indiana – 5’-9” 208 lbs. – Lunch pail, pace setter gets whats in front of him. Great contact balance. Lacks HR gear, not a pass catching option.

199. Eli Heidenreich – RB – Navy – 6’-0” 198 lbs. – fast, tough, dependable slot/RB/ST guy that isn’t super twitchy or athletic for either position.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

214. Desmond Reid – RB – Pitt – 5’-6” 174 lbs. – Slot/RB that is a threat with the ball in his hands. Punt returner. Lacks ideal size, injury history.

226. Robert Henry Jr. – RB – UTSA – 5’-9” 196 lbs. – Quick and twitchy mover that is slippery in space, light on his feet. Lacks ideal bulk and hasn’t caught many passes. Shrine Bowl only.

232. Jam Miller – RB – Alabama – 5’-10” 209 lbs. – North/south runner with good power and contact balance. Lacks vision and burst is average.

235. Roman Hemby – RB – Indiana – 6’-0” 207 lbs. – North/south inside the tackles bruiser that has good contact balance and seems to always fall forward. Not a dynamic runner or HR hitter.

243. Logan Diggs – RB – Ole Miss – 6’-0” 220 lbs. – North/south one cut and go runner. He’s a hammer between the tackles. Lacks wiggle and HR speed.

250. Rahsul Faison – RB – South Carolina – 5’-11” 208 lbs. – Smooth inside runner with good contact balance. Lacks overdrive. 26 years old.

Its Love or punt IMO for this class. Washington, if he cleans up his fumbles is also dynamic and has serious upside. Still, fumbles...I do like Singleton, but he lacks instincts or vision and I am of the belief that you cannot teach that. Heidenreich is a gamer that I would absolutely snag on day 3 though. The Rams could have a plan for a guy like that. He fits the culture as well. This is the first year that I feel like I have no feel for this class. Someone like Adam Randall from Clemson could get drafted in the 3rd round on potential alone. A former WR with one year of experience. Runs like ED. Has tremendous size and decent speed. And obviously can catch, but is a real unknown.

WR:

9. Jordyn Tyson – WR – Arizona State – 6’-2” 203 lbs. – Elite separator, can play all 3 spots. Smooth route runner. Injuries are a concern, but not connected (not injury prone IMO)

11. Carnell Tate – WR – Ohio State - 6’-2” 192 lbs. – Z WR that wins jump balls, good route runner with excellent hands, average play speed. Has always been WR2.

13. Makia Lemon – WR – USC – 5’-11” 195 lbs. – Plays above his weight class, slot or X WR. Good blocker and physical as a WR with a ridiculous win rate in contested catch scenarios. Mental makeup scares me a bit.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

19. Denzel Boston – WR – Washington – 6’-4” 212 lbs. – Smooth route runner with elite ball skills, especially in contested catch situations, lacks deep speed. X WR.

22. Omar Cooper Jr. – WR – Indiana – 6’-0” 199 lbs. – Ultra physical slot WR, good blocker. Strong hands and tough to bring down after the catch. Not a great route runner.

34. KC Concepcion – WR – Texas A&M – 6’-0” 196 lbs. – His twitch and quickness create separation and makes him dangerous after the catch. Unreliable hands. Slot WR.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

48. Chris Bell – WR – Louisville – 6’-2” 220 lbs. – An Z or X WR that is a load to bring down in the open field, solid speed and reliable hands. Late season torn ACL is an issue for this season.

50. Germie Bernard – WR – Alabama – 6’-1” 204 lbs. – I like his size combined with his route running and speed as an all-around good WR. Not as physical as I’d like to see, esp. considering his size.

57. Zachariah Branch – WR – Georgia – 5’-9” 177 lbs. – Slot WR that did a lot of his damage around the LoS and then used his speed and explosiveness to gain yardage. Punt returner. Not a good route runner. Lacks ideal catch radius.

60. Chris Brazzell II – WR – Tenn. – 6’-4” 198 lbs. – Long limbed Z that benefits from motion to get him free releases. He’s deep threat that can win contested situations with his length. Not much of a route tree coming from Tenn.

62. Skyler Bell – WR – UConn – 6’-0” 192 lbs. – Works in all three WR spots, a serious deep threat and a terror after the catch. Physical player. Drops are an issue.

64. Malachi Fields – WR – Notre Dame – 6’-4” 218 lbs. – Traditional X that wins contested catches with his size/length and strength. Build up speed is OK. Route running is average, not a lot of separation ability.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

71. Bryce Lance – WR – NDSU – 6’-3” 204 lbs. – Size speed/athletic trifecta with a nose for the endzone. X WR with a willingness to block. Route running is a work in progress.

72. Antonio Williams – WR – Clemson – 5’-11” 187 lbs. – Nuanced route running slot WR with good speed and quickness. Bonus punt returner. Injuries in ’23 and ’25 are a concern.

75. Elijah Sarratt – WR – Indiana – 6’-2” 210 lbs. – A possession X WR with a nose for first downs and TDs. He’s the definition of a QBs best friend as a reliable chain mover. Good blocker. Athleticism and speed will not wow you.

81. Deion Burks – WR – Oklahoma – 5’-10” 180 lbs. – Sharp route runner with top popping speed. Dangerous after the catch. Slot only that lacks ideal size/length.

90. Ted Hurst – WR – Georgia State – 6’-4” 206 lbs. – Size/speed X WR with the ability to win at all 3 levels. Good route runner. Not as physical as he should be at the catch point. Senior Bowl tape only.

97. De’Zhaun Stribling – WR – Ole Miss - 6’-2” 207 lbs. – A bigger bodied deep threat with serious wheels after the catch and a plus blocker as well. Not a great separator.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

115. Brenen Thompson – WR – Miss State – 5’-9” 164 lbs. – Pint sized speedster with legit 4.26 speed. He is a deep threat from the slot. A one trick pony that lacks the size to do much more.

124. CJ Daniels – WR – Miami – 6’-2” 202 lbs. – Nifty route runner and decent separator, good size for contested catch situations. Not fast or twitchy.

130. Reggie Virgil – WR – Texas Tech – 6’-3” 187 lbs. – Good size, good route runner, good hands. Nothing Lacks a top gear.

136. Ja’Kobi Lane – WR – USC – 6’-4” 200 lbs. – Long downfield and redzone threat with excellent hands. Not an inspiring separator.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

155. Cyrus Allen – WR – Cincinnati – 5’-11” 180 lbs. – Quick and fast slot WR that works all 3 levels. Lacks ideal size, routes could use some polish.

156. Caleb Douglas – WR – Texas Tech – 6’-3” 206 lbs. - An X sized Z WR that needs a free release to use his length and stride to get deep. Willing blocker. Needs to add strength.

168. Kevin Coleman Jr. – WR – Missouri – 5’-10” 179 lbs. – Obvious slot only, ok speed, tough over the middle. Routes need sharpening.

169. Josh Coleman – WR – Baylor – 6’-1” 220 lbs. – Touchdown machine that has a 3 down RB body. Strong and physical, is a load after the catch. Separation skills need work. Average speed.

181. Eric Rivers – WR – Georgia Tech – 5’-10” 176 lbs. – Extremely physical slot that worked from the outside in college. Top popping speed. Fit questions and drops…

184. Jeff Caldwell – WR – Cincinnati – 6’-5” 216 lbs. – Blazing deep threat with great size, but poor route running and lacks contested catch ability.

189. Aaron Anderson – WR – LSU – 5’-8” 191 lbs. – Solid route runner with top end speed to burn. Sketchy hands, undersized, so slot WR in his future.

191. Kaden Wetjen – WR – Iowa – 5’-9” 193 lbs. – poorly used Slot WR/return specialist that can win in the open field. Size and catch radius limit his opportunities.

197. Eric McAlister – WR – TCU – 6’-3” 205 lbs. – Long bodied deep threat, and a serious threat after the catch. Unreliable hands, poor route runner.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

203. Chase Roberts – WR – BYU – 6’-3” 209 lbs. – Very good route runner with excellent size, wins contested catches and is tough after the catch. Doesn’t have the speed or twitch to constantly get separation.

213. Zavion Thomas – WR – LSU – 5’-10” 190 lbs. – Walter Payton’s great-nephew, He is a speed merchant with punt, kick return and RB experience. He’s a swiss army knife. Poor route runner.

220. Kendrick Law – WR – Kentucky – 5’-11” 203 lbs. – Mostly a screen catcher, RB body to absorb contact and create yards. Lacks a route tree and his route running is poor.

228. Colbie Young – WR – Georgia – 6’-5” 218 lbs. – Long with decent speed creates problems for CBs down the field. Below average separator. Serious off-field flag.

238. J. Michael Sturdivant – WR – Florida – 6’-3” 207 lbs. – Size/speed/athletic traits that wins deep, contested situations and over the middle. Poor route runner and lacks production for his profile.

241. Caullin Lacy – WR – Louisville – 5’-9” 183 lbs. – Return specialist, good route runner. Lacks the size to play outside and the speed to terrorize from the slot.

242. Emmanuel Henderson Jr. – WR – Kansas – 6’-1” 185 lbs. – Versatile WR with the requisite speed and a fluid athlete. Needs route running polish, below average hands.

252. Anthony Smith – WR – East Carolina – 6’-2” 189 lbs. – A long, lanky deep threat that needs to develop his route running and get stronger to compete at the catch point. Shrine Bowl only.

Really good class, not as good as next years, but still really good. The top 3 guys are interchangeable IMO, take the guy that fits your system and don't look back. Tier 2 is interesting, their breakout age is not good. If you want to know what breakout age is as a measurable for WRs, look it up, but its real. I still think Boston and Cooper Jr are fits, I just don't think they are pick 13 fits. I love Fields at the end of Tier 3 and Tier 4 is my favorite group top to bottom after Tier 1. I do love Wetjen and Sturdivant on day 3 as sleepers that could contribute. Esp. Wetjen.

TE:

16. Kenyon Sadiq – TE – Oregon – 6’-3” 241 lbs. – Slot or In-line TE, good blocker, above average route runner and a RAC terror. Below average production.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

42. Eli Stowers – TE – Vanderbilt – 6’-4” 239 lbs. – Former QB, only 3 years at TE. A serious problem with the ball in his hands, which are excellent. Rare athleticism for the position. Effort is lacking in blocking.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

78. Max Klare – TE – Ohio State – 6’-4” 246 lbs. – More of a slot than traditional in-line TE that is a good route runner with excellent speed to get deep. Blocking is mediocre.

87. Sam Roush – TE – Sanford – 6’-6” 267 lbs. – Best In-line blocking TE. Reliable pass catcher that can do the underneath and intermediate stuff, but won’t wow you as a route runner.

104. Michael Trigg – TE – Baylor – 6’-4” 240 lbs. – Go go gadget arms (34.5”) with decent speed that wins along the sidelines, down the seam and in the redzone. Decent blocker. Kind of a sleeper pick IMO. Route running is a work in progress.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

129. Justin Joly – TE – NCSU – 6’-3” 241 lbs. – A 3 level pass catcher with good contested catch ability. Route running is decent. Not a great blocker. Hands are just OK.

131. Jack Endries – TE – Texas – 6’-5” 245 lbs. – Does a nice job in traffic and winning contested catches, can work all 3 levels. Needs to get stronger, work on blocking.

137. Marlin Klein – TE – Michigan – 6’-6” 248 lbs. – Tough, strong with 2 way upside. From Germany and raw.

144. Dallen Bentley – TE – Utah – 6’-4” 253 lbs. – Great length with excellent hands make him a mismatch, blocking is decent and the size is there. Route running is a work in progress.

157. Oscar Delp – TE – Georgia – 6’-5” 245 lbs. – Good speed, strong hands, solid route runner. Needs to get stronger. Lack of production is a ?.

160. Nate Boerkircher – TE – Texas A&M – 6’-5” 245 lbs. – Blocking first TE with good hands that works well in the middle of the field. Not a ton of pass production.

161. Joe Royer – TE – Cincinnati – 6’-5” 247 lbs. – Solid blocker and a safety blanket in the middle of the field. Not an explosive mover or deep threat.

162. Eli Raridon – TE – Notre Dame – 6’-6” 245 lbs. – A seem splitter with excellent toughness as a blocker. Not a dynamic athlete. 2 Right ACL tears.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

177. Josh Cuevas – TE – Alabama – 6’-3” 245 lbs. – H back/slot TE that wins in the middle of the field. Blocking and route running lacks.

198. John Michael Gyllenborg – TE – Wyoming – 6’-6” 249 lbs. – Highly athletic profile with natural hands. Limited route runner and blocker.

201. Tanner Koziol – TE – Houston – 6’-6” 247 lbs. – Long contested catch master that needs to improve his route running. Poor blocker.

208. Dae’Quan Wright – TE – Ole Miss – 6’-4” 246 lbs. – Seam stretcher with good hands and nice length. Lacks physicality in both phases.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

227. Riley Nowakowski – TE – Indiana – 6’-2” 250 lbs. – tough, intelligent with good technique as a blocker. Good hands and tough at the catch point. Lacks the athleticism to be a real pass threat.

236. Max Bredeson – TE – Michigan – 6’-2” 252 lbs. – H back with good blocking skills and works as a safety valve for his QB in passing downs. Team captain, loved his brother (Ben, OL) Lacks ideal size and playmaking ability.

This a sneaky not too bad class. I know people are concerned with Sadiq's production, if you have a plan, he could be a serious mismatch. Same with Stowers, a QB turned TE that is the same size as Sadiq, but with a ton less experience and can't block a 13 lb. french bulldog. (Kidding Merlin, I know you love him, the Rams have met with him, relax lol) Have a plan for him and he will be good. I do like Delp, Raridon and Trigg later in the draft. My sleeper late is Gyllenborg. He has so much upside and just needs time to develop.

OT:

10. Francis Mauigoa – OT – Miami – 6’-5” 329 lbs. – RT or RG, smart and patient blocker with an excellent base and good power. Feet are a bit sluggish.

17. Monroe Freeling – OT – Georgia – 6’-7” 315 lbs. – Top true LT in the draft, highly athletic with excellent length. Needs to get stronger and gain experience.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

20. Spencer Fano – OT – Utah – 6’-5” 311 lbs. – Highly athletic and technically sound, played RT at Utah, but 32” arms probably moves him to OG. Needs to get stronger.

26. Blake Miller – OT – Clemson - 6’-7” 317 lbs. – RT that is a highly fluid mover with a mauler mentality. Needs to get stronger.

28. Max Iheanachor – OT – Arizona State – 6’-6” 321 lbs. – Dancing bear RT that would work best in a zone scheme. Super athlete. Sloppy technique.

31. Kayden Proctor – OT – Alabama – 6’-7” 352 lbs. – Bulldozer of a human that could play RT or RG. If he latches on, you’re in trouble. Inconsistent hand usage. Weight could be an issue.

39. Caleb Lomu – OT – Utah – 6’-6” 313 lbs. – LT with OK length, is athletic with a solid punch. Needs to get stronger, continue to develop technique.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

56. Gennings Dunker – OT – Iowa – 6’-5” 319 lbs. – Ideal size and strength with a finishers mentality. Full go to the echo of the whistle. A bit robotic, 33.5” arms, I think he would be best as a OG that has the ability to play OT in a pinch.

65. Caleb Tiernan – OT – Northwestern – 6’-8” 323 lbs. – Length and experience of a swing tackle with the arm length (32.5”) of an OG. Team captain. Strong and tough. May lack an ideal position.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

100. Markel Bell – OT - Miami - 6’-9” 346 lbs. – Long, mountainous LT that fits as a powerhouse in a power scheme. His length makes it hard to win with leverage.

107. Dametrious Crownover – OT – Texas A&M – 6’-7” 319 lbs. – Great size, good athlete, former TE, so a bit raw technique-wise. Needs to get stronger. Developmental type prospect.

120. Kage Casey – OT – Boise State – 6’-6” 310 lbs. – Good athlete with good strength. Swing tackle potential. Sub 33” arms make him a candidate to move to guard. Needs to add good weight.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

133. Jude Bowry – OT – BC – 6’-5” 314 lbs. – Strong and athletic LT prospect with good size and the right temperament. Technique is a work in progress. 33 ¾” arms.

139. Trey Zuhn III – OT – Texas A&M – 6’-6” 312 lbs. – LT with 32” arms, so he will move inside. 126 snaps at OC in ’25. Solid anchor, decent athletically.

142. Isaiah World – OT – Oregon – 6’-5” 323 lbs. – Great size, length and power. Good physicality. Injury and poor technique issues.

149. JC Davis – OT – Illinois – 6’-4” 322 lbs. – Long, strong and physical LT, technique needs an overhaul.

151. Austin Barber – OT – Florida – 6’-7” 318 lbs. – Great size, athletic, solid technique. Needs to add strength. 33” arms don’t meet the benchmark. Swing tackle.

159. Diego Pounds – OT – Ole Miss – 6’-6” 325 lbs. – Big and strong with some serious punch power. Not a nimble athlete and high waisted.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

183. Aamil Wagner – OT – Notre Dame – 6’-6” 306 lbs. – Technically sound, team captain RT that lacks the size and strength to anchor year 1.

186. Drew Shelton – OT – Penn State – 6’-5” 313 lbs. – Smooth moving, light footed LT that needs to get stronger.

Good class if you want a RT or a OT that converts inside. If you need a true starting LT, its literally Freeling or bust. And he has 1 year of starting experience. So good luck throwing him in the fire year 1. Lomu if he can get stronger/bigger is a nice plan B I guess. Pounds is interesting to me on day 3. As is Barber. Both could be swing tackles. JC Davis would be a day 3 swing on. But for my money, I draft Crownover on day 3 and develop him into whatever I want him to be.

IOL:

14. Olaiavega Ioane – OG – Penn State – 6’-4” 328 lbs. – Great size and strength, excellent technique. Lacks ideal movement skills.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

40. Emmanuel Pregnon – OG – Oregon – 6’-4” 314 lbs. – Heavy handed bulldozer with a nasty mindset. Not a smooth mover. Power/gap scheme.

53. Chase – Bisontis – OG – Texas A&M – 6’-5” 315 lbs. – Versatile OG with a mean streak that moves fairly well and is technically sound. Short arms can at times be an issue.

68. Brian Parker II – OC – Duke – 6’-5” 309 lbs. – Nasty, technically sound blocker that gave up only 4 sacks and 4 QB hits in over 1300 pass reps. Experience at both tackle spots. Sub 33” arms probably moves him inside as an OC/OG. Needs to get stronger.

76. Keylan Rutledge – OG – Georgia Tech – 6’-4” 316 lbs. – Nastiest blocker in the draft. Plays almost beyond the whistle and wants to destroy you. Needs to work on creating a more stable base to anchor.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

83. Conner Lew – OC – Auburn – 6’-3” 310 lbs. – Strong and athletic with a wrestling background. Top rated pure OC. Works in any scheme. Oct. ACL tear will slow year one.

86. Sam Hecht – OC – Kansas State – 6’-4” 303 lbs. – Athletic and technically sound with a solid base. Sub 32” arms cause issues. Zone scheme is his best fit.

88. Jalen Farmer – OG – Kentucky – 6’-5” 312 lbs. – His name is Farmer, so he you know he is strong and a hard worker. Not a nimble mover, struggles getting to the second level.

91. Logan Jones – OC – Iowa – 6’-3” 299 lbs. – Technically sound, highly experienced, hard worker. Size/length will limit his upside.

98. Jake Slaughter – OC – Florida – 6’-5” 303 lbs. – High IQ line caller with good movement skills. 2 time team captain. Lacks ideal size/strength.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

114. Billy Schrauth – OG – Notre Dame – 6’-5” 310 lbs. – Played both Guard spots, has a mean streak and a team captain. Elite in pass pro, run blocking lags behind. Ankle and knee sprains require clean medicals.

132. Beau Stephens – OG – Iowa – 6’-5” 315 lbs. – LG/RG flexibility, strong with a bully demeanor. Sub 32” arms are not ideal.

141. Parker Brailsford – OC – Alabama – 6’-2” 289 lbs. – Excellent athlete with quick hands and plays with an edge. Undersized and can get moved off his spot.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

165. Jager Burton – OC – Kentucky – 6’-4” 312 lbs. – Good size for the position with good technique. Needs to get stronger.

175. DJ Campbell – OG – Texas – 6’-3” 313 lbs. – Strong, technically sound RG. Athletically limited.

188. Ar’maj Reed-Adams – OG – Texas A&M – 6’-6” 314 lbs. – LG/Rg experience and a captain, decent anchor and footwork. Poor leverage and technique needs work.

192. Pat Coogan – OC – Indiana – 6’-5” 311 lbs. – These Indiana guys are all the same, high character, high IQ, high motor, high work ethic, average athletically. Coogan is the same.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

200. Jaeden Roberts – OG – Alabama – 6’-5” 333 lbs. – Proto size and a powerhouse OG. Clumsy athlete that needs to play more under control.

205. Matt Gulbin – OC – Michigan State – 6’-4” 305 lbs. – Straight line blocker with a solid anchor, not fluid on move blocks. Shorter arms less than ideal.

206. Anez Cooper – OG – Miami – 6’-6” 334 lbs. – Big, long and strong RG that plays with a mean streak. Sluggish in his movements.

223. Jeremiah Wright – OG – Auburn – 6’-5” 331 lbs. – He’s a powerhouse straight forward mauler. Sluggish mover with sub-par technique.

239. Micah Morris – OG – Georgia – 6’-5” 334 lbs. – Absolute powerhouse in a mountain of a frame. Surprisingly athletic. Plays way too upright to put it all together,

244. Jaren Kump – OC – Utah – 6’-5” 313 lbs. – OT/OG/OC experience. Solid anchor and good length. Not athletic with clunky feet.

245. Fernando Carmona – OG – Arkansas – 6’-5” 316 lbs. – Tough with a nasty demeanor. Good power. Unathletic with short arms.

249. Izavion Miller – OG – Auburn – 6’-5” 305 lbs. – RT/OG prospect with decent technique and movement skills, needs to add strength. Short arms move him inside.

253. Dillon Wade – OG – Auburn – 6’-3” 316 lbs. – Really smooth athlete, dancing bear. Needs to get stronger, add some good weight for a stronger anchor.

Good, deep class. Ioane is a monster RG. Rutledge has the nastiest demeanor in the entire draft class. Tons of OCs after day 1. This class is gonna get a boost from the OTs that turn into OG and OCs like Dunker, Tiernan and Zuhn as well. I do really like Micah Morris on day 3. I feel like he could be a real sleeper stud. Jones is my OC of choice with Lew not far behind. I could see the Rams go after a guy like Coogan or Stephens on day 3.

Deadpool's 2026 Big Board by Position List - Defense (3 replies)

These are my final positional rankings. Some of these guys could end up on 2 lists SAF/CB or LB/Edge

EDGE:

5. David Bailey – EDGE – Texas Tech – 6’-3” 250 lbs. – Best pure edge rusher in the class.

7. Rueben Bain Jr. – EDGE – Miami – 6’-2” 263 lbs. – insane power rusher that just overwhelms blockers. Excellent anchor against the run. Historically short arms.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

23. Akheem Mesidor – EDGE – Miami – 6’-3” 259 lbs. – Advanced pass rush toolbox, more technique and motor than power. A bit of a tweener. 25 before the season.

25. Keldric Faulk – EDGE – Auburn - 6’-6” 276 lbs. – 34/43 DE with a solid anchor and is a plus athlete. Young with tons of upside. Pass rush is a work in progress.

27. Cashius Howell – EDGE – Texas A&M – 6’-2” 253 lbs. – Explosive first step that leads to a stat sheet full of sacks. Bendy with a good motor. Not a great edge setter against the run.

30. TJ Parker – EDGE – Clemson – 6’-4” 263 lbs. – High motor with excellent hand work (6 forced fumbles in ’24) good athlete. Had a down year in ’25.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

47. R Mason Thomas – EDGE – Oklahoma – 6’-2” 241 lbs. – Explosive first step added to his athleticism makes him dangerous, a constantly hot motor. Lacks ideal size and length.

51. Gabe Jacas – EDGE – Illinois – 6’-4” 260 lbs. – A powerhouse that works in a 34 or 43, won’t wow you with his speed or athleticism, he just overpowers you. Team captain. Lacks creativity as a pass rusher.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

58. Zion Young – EDGE – Missouri – 6’-6” 262 lbs. – A power 43 DE that can set an edge and turn speed to power as a rusher. Just an average athlete. Lacks pass rush creativity.

59. Derrick Moore – EDGE – Michigan – 6’-4” 255 lbs. – A power rusher with a nose for the QB. Can set a decent edge against the run. Run defense effort comes and goes. 34 EDGE.

63. Malachi Lawrence – EDGE – UCF – 6’-4” 253 lbs. – Ideal size as a 34 EDGE with an explosive first step and a high octane motor. Edge setting needs to improve.

66. Joshua Josephs – EDGE – Tenn. – 6’-3” 242 lbs. – Long armed 34 EDGE that can bend around the corner and hunt QBs. Relentless energy. Needs more size/strength for edge setting.

69. Dani Dennis-Sutton – EDGE – Penn State – 6’-6” 256 lbs. – Highly athletic 43 DE that is raw, but all the clay is there. Run defense is ahead of his pass rush. Needs time to develop, esp. pass rush skills.

79. Romello Height – EDGE – Texas Tech – 6’-3” 239 lbs. – relentless speedball as a pass rusher, very fluid with multiple ways to get to the QB. Lacks size/strength as an edge setter. Pass rush specialist for now.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

92. LT Overton – EDGE – Alabama – 6’-3” 274 lbs. – Shorter 34/43 DE that can move inside on passing downs to rush the passer. His game is all power, very little twitch. Kind of a tweener. Lots of tw words in this write-up.

93. Keyron Crawford – EDGE – Auburn – 6’-4” 253 lbs. – a 34 EDGE that was late to football, so tons of upside. Twitched up and athletic. Run defense lacks, for now. Raw and will need some time.

101. Jaishawn Barham - EDGE – Michigan – 6’-3” 240 lbs. – Played as a standup EDGE, ILB and 3 pt stance end. Wins with athleticism more than a deep toolbox as a pass rusher. Pass coverage is not good. Hence the move to EDGE fulltime IMO.

109. Anthony Lucas – EDGE – USC - 6’-5” 256 lbs. – A long 43 DE in early downs, where he can use that length and edge setting ability to help lock down the run game. Pass rush is a work in progress.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

123. Tyreak Sapp – EDGE – Florida – 6’-2” 273 lbs. – A 43 base DE/3T tweener. He can anchor from the edge against the run. Can get skinny and shoot gaps from the inside. Not a great athlete.

146. Mason Reiger – EDGE – Wisconsin – 6’-5” 251 lbs. – Explosive pocket collapser with a nice array of pass rush moves. Needs to get stronger for run defense.

153. Max Llewwllyn – EDGE – Iowa – 6’-6” 258 lbs. – 43 DE with a lunchpail mentality and a non-stop motor. Average athlete and below average pass rusher.

154. Nadame Tucker – EDGE – Western Michigan – 6’-2” 247 lbs. – Undersized buzzsaw pass rusher. Excellent athlete. Poor run defender.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

176. Mikail Kamara – EDGE – Indiana – 6’-1” 262 lbs. – Explosive, high energy pass rush specialist that lacks the size and length to be effective against the run.

194. Caden Curry – EDGE – Ohio State – 6’-3” 257 lbs. – 43 DE or 34 Edge with insane production. Absolute power rusher that lacks twitch and a pass rush plan.

196. Quintayvious Hutchins – EDGE – BC – 6’-3” 233 lbs. – Strong, athletic pass rusher. Lacks NFL size and length.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

210. George Gumbs Jr. – EDGE – Florida – 6’-4” 245 lbs. – WR turned TE turned EDGE, so raw with an hyper-athletic profile and the size to mold into a devastating pass rusher. Lacks the sand to hold an edge.

229. Ethan Burke – EDGE – Texas – 6’-6” 269 lbs. – 43/34 DE that sets a solid edge and a hot motor. Not the most athletic or dynamic pass rusher.

233. TJ Guy – EDGE – Michigan – 6’-4” 250 lbs. – Good initial burst with a relentless motor that stalks QBs. Rush can be too upright, losing the leverage battle. Not an edge setter.

237. Vincent Anthony Jr. – EDGE – Duke – 6’-6” 258 lbs. – 43 DE that can bend around the corner and flatten to the QB. Lacks strength to set an edge.

251. Logan Fano – EDGE – Utah – 6’-5” 257 lbs. – Plays up or down, good size and length. Quick first step, great motor. Not a bendy, twitchy athlete.

Tremendous class. The top 3 guys give you the option of speed or power. Mesidor would also be in this group except he is 25 this upcoming season. Faulk has tremendous upside as well. I personally love Tier 4. Round 2 and 3 guys that have starter potential. That is tremendous value IMO. So much depth on those day 3 tier guys as well offer plenty of roster making quality late.

DL:

29. Kayden McDonald – DL – Ohio State – 6’-2” 326 lbs. – Space eating, run stuffer deluxe. Excellent power. Lacks a pass rush.

32. Caleb Banks – DL – Florida – 6’-6” 327 lbs. – Size/power to control the LoS. Decent burst as a pass rusher. Raw technique. Can disappear for stretches.

33. Peter Woods – DL Clemson – 6’-3” 298 lbs. – Explosive get off, with decent power helps him win the rep early. Solid anchor to hold up against the run. Needs to add good weight. 24 was better than 25. You’ll see a pattern with Clemson guys.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
38. Lee Hunter – DL – Texas Tech – 6’-4” 318 lbs. – An absolute space eater with his size, power and wingspan. Bullrush only as a pass rusher. Not a great athlete, mostly straight forward skills.

43. Christian Miller – DL – Georgia – 6’-4” 321 lbs. – Packs quite a punch off the snap, active hands and good athlete. He can ruin your run game. Not much pass rush production.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
73. Gracen Halton – DL – Oklahoma – 6’-3” 293 lbs. – Quick get-off and an ability to reduce and shoot gaps. Plus athlete for his size. Lacks a strong anchor against the run.

74. Domonique Orange – DL – Iowa State – 6’-2” 322 lbs. – Surprisingly athletic fire hydrant that just clogs the middle of the line. NT in any scheme. 1 sack across 4 years.

82. Darrell Jackson Jr. – DL – FSU – 6’-5” 315 lbs. – Long disruptor as a 3T or 34 DE, run defense is his calling card. Can get too upright and lose leverage.

99. Zxavian Harris – DL – Ole Miss – 6’-8” 330 lbs. – Can line up anywhere on the line, excellent power and length help him control the LoS. Can get too upright, losing the leverage battle.

105. Dontay Corleone – DL – Cincinnati – 6’-0” 340 lbs. – Compact run stuffer with built in leverage, plenty of power. Not a smooth mover.

106. Rayshaun Benny – DL – Michigan – 6’-3” 298 lbs. – Active pressure creator with the movement skills to work in a 2 gap scheme as a 3T. Not a great anchor against the run.

111. Kaleb Proctor – DL – Southeastern Louisiana – 6’-2” 291 lbs. – Nice pass rush arsenal, and an explosive get off make him a dangerous 3T. A bit undersized. Shrine Bowl tape only.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
121. Landon Robinson – DL – Navy – 5’-11” 293 lbs. – Quick, strong and under-sized. Reminds me of someone. Won’t be out-leveraged or out-worked. Size can work against him against the run.

125. Chris McClellan – DL – Missouri – 6’-4” 313 lbs. – Superior hand fighter with monster hands (11”) Holds his own against the run. Decent sack production. A bit stiff and not sudden off the snap.

145. Tim Keenan III – DL – Alabama – 6’-1” 327 lbs. – Strong, squatty NT that’s more of a space eater than penetrator. 30” arms make it hard for him to get off blocks.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

164. Demonte Capehart – DL – Clemson – 6’-5” 313 lbs. – Block munching DT that can move up and down the line. Bull rusher only. Older prospect.

166. Albert Regis – DL – Texas A&M – 6’-1” 295 lbs. – Built in leverage with the strength and technique to bring the pressure. Lack of length is an issue if he’s late to engage.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

202. Zane Durant – DL – Penn State – 6’-1” 290 lbs. – explosive off the snap with natural leverage, light on his feet and athletic. Size and length are an issue once locked in a battle.

209. Bryson Eason – DL – Tenn – 6’-2” 323 lbs. – LB turned NT (lol) that still carries that LBer athleticism with a hefty anchor. 6 yr. senior, lacks sack production.

212. Skyler Gill-Howard – DL – Texas Tech – 6’-1” 280 lbs. – Excellent jump off the snap, with a chaotic, non-stop energy. More of a disruptor than a producer. Undersized with shorter arms.

234. Nick Barrett – DL – South Carolina – 6’-3” 312 lbs. – Run stuffing NT with a solid anchor and the strength to eat blocks. Pass rush won’t excite you.

240. Deven Eastern – DL - Minnesota – 6’-5” 315 lbs. – Solid length and size combined with decent hand usage. Plays too upright and gets neutralized too often.

247. Bobby Jamison-Travis – DL – Auburn - 6’-3” 328 lbs. – He is a space eater, that can occupy blockers and allow others to make plays. Needs to get stronger, play less upright.

I really like this class. There are run stuffers littered throughout the entire draft and even into UDFA. Banks makes me a bit nervous, but his upside to dominate a game is undeniable. Tiers 2 and 3 are packed with run stuffers outside of Proctor, who is a pass rush specialist. Great value in those 2 tiers in rounds 3 and 4. My favorite value pick might be Bryson Easton, he's an older guy, but he would be a tremendous rotational piece late in the draft.

LB:

2. Arvell Reese – LB – Ohio State – 6’-4” 241 lbs. – LBer/EDGE. Better right now as a MLB, sideline to sideline, quick to diagnose. As an edge, just starting to develop a pass rush. Ultra athletic.

4. Sonny Styles – LB – Ohio State – 6’-5” 243 lbs. – Safety turned LBer, sideline to sideline range, solid tackler, excellent in coverage and a good blitzer. Not a thumper.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

18. CJ Allen – LB – Georgia – 6’-1” 230 lbs. – Old school thumper, team captain and playcaller. Pass coverage is OK at best.

37. Anthony Hill Jr. – LB – Texas – 6’-2” 238 lbs. – Sack production? Check. Forced fumbles? Check. Sideline to sideline? Check? Pass cover ability? Check. Can get over-aggressive.

46. 46. Jacob Rodriguez – LB – Texas Tech – 6’-1” 231 lbs. – A stat sheet stuffer at ILB, He can go sideline to sideline and has a knack for the ball in coverage. A tad under-sized, not a stack and shed guy.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

61. Jake Golday – LB – Cincinnati - 6’-4” 239 lbs. – Explosive, old school stack and shed ILB with sideline range and good physicality, ok in zone. Man coverage lacks.

67. Josiah Trotter – LB – Missouri – 6’-2” 237 lbs. – Old school ILB with NFL bloodlines, fast diagnoser and a good finisher against the run. Not exactly sideline to sideline and pass coverage is below average.

84. Kyle Lewis – LB – Pitt – 6’-0” 220 lbs. – Undersized pass defender as a weakside ILB in a 34 or a WILL in a 43. Sideline to sideline speed with a penchant for stuffing a stat sheet. Could see a move to SAF, due to size.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

110. Deontae Lawson – LB – Alabama – 6’-3” 226 lbs. – Sideline to sideline, effective blitzer, team captain. Once engaged, has an issue shedding. 43 WILL or 34 ILB next to a run stuffer.

134. Bryce Boettcher – LB – Oregon – 6’-1” 230 lbs. – Tazmanian devil that wins with effort over size and athleticism. Has STs written all over him. Undersized.

147. Taurean York – LB – Texas A&M – 5’-11” 226 lbs. – Sideline to sideline range with cover ability. Lack of size/length is an issue. 43 WILL/34 ILB weakside.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

167. Harold Perkins Jr. – LB – LSU – 6’-1” 223 lbs. – Can blitz and cover from an off-ball position. Average athlete. Can get engulfed by blockers due to lack of size.

171. Kaleb Elarms-Orr – LB – TCU - 6’-2” 234 lbs. – Sideline to sideline, can cover and blitz a bit. Underwhelming against the run.

173. Keyshaun Elliott – LB – Arizona State – 6’-2” 231 lbs. – Old school undersized thumper with an all day motor. Lacks range and coverage ability.

180. Aiden Fisher – LB – Indiana – 6’-1” 232 lbs. – High IQ, character and leader. Excellent run stopper. Lacks the athleticism to go sidelines or cover effectively.

185. Trey Moore – LB – Texas – 6’-2” 243 lbs. – Excellent rusher from the edge that lacks size, could be a SAM on late downs. Have a plan, he could excel, don’t, he’s a bust.

195. Owen Heinecke – LB – Oklahoma – 6’-1” 227 lbs. – non-stop sideline to sideline playmaker. Profile screams STs as he develops into a more complete LB.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

215. Lander Barton – LB – Utah – 6’-5” 233 lbs. – Sam or ILB that handles his business against the run and isn’t a liability in passing downs. Lacks sideline to sideline range.

217. Justin Jefferson – LB – Alabama – 6’-0” 223 lbs. – Quick, athletic WILL backer that can cover and is at his best as a seek and destroy. Cannot take on blocks, or shed them once engaged.

218. Jack Kelly – LB – BYU – 6’-2” 240 lbs. – Average athlete with sideline to sideline range, but for his size, a below average run stopper. Ok in coverage, excellent blitzer.

221. Red Murdock – LB – Buffalo – 6’-2” 232 lbs. – 17 career FFs (record) and a ton of other stats, high character, high IQ, down hill thumper. Lacks sideline range and not a great pass defender. Early down ILB.

246. Xavian Sorey Jr. – LB – Arkansas – 6’-2” 228 lbs. – Undersized heat seeking missile that should play WILL to chase and can cover. Lacks the size and strength to take on lineman.

248. Jimmy Rolder – LB – Michigan – 6’-2” 238 lbs. – A MLB that is a run thumper, but raw and needs time to evolve and get better against the pass.

254. Wesley Bissainthe – LB – Miami – 6’-2” 225 lbs. – Undersized ILB that cannot stack and shed and needs to be kept clean, but finishes tackles and can drop smoothly into zone coverages.

This is a very good class led by two absolute studs. Even if Reese ends up at EDGE, this is a great class. My favorite tier is Tier 2, Allen is a leader and thumper, J-Rod is a stat sheet filler and Hill Jr. can do it all. Tier 3 is also rock solid with a nickel backer like Lewis, Trotter is a high IQ thumper and Golday can do a little bit of everything. My favorite later guys are Fisher, Murdock and Rolder. But for my money, I'm drafting Owen Heinecke later in day 3. He looks like a STer with some weakside ILB upside that plays with a super revved motor and gets to his spots in zone coverage pretty smoothly.

CB:

8. Mansoor Delane – CB – LSU – 6’-0” 187 lbs. – Better press man than zone, but can play both. Aggressive against the run. Lacks INT production.

15. Jermod McCoy – CB – Tenn. – 6’-1” 188 lbs. – Ballhawk, with a silky lower half and physical at the catch point. ACL tear muddies his water a bit.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

24. Avieon Terrell – CB – Clemson – 5’-11” 180 lbs. – Inside/outside CB with a great peanut punch. Physical against the run. Fluid mover with good technique. Slender build may limit him to the slot.

35. Chris Johnson – CB – SDSU – 6’-0” 193 lbs. – Man/zone inside/outside CB that is technically sound and is a smooth mover. Can get beat deep.

36. Colton Hood – CB – Tenn. – 6’-0” 193 lbs. – Press man CB that plays a physical style of game. Film junkie and is active against the run. Can get handsy more than I like.

41. Brandon Cisse – CB – South Carolina – 6’-0” 189 lbs. – Ultra athletic outside CB that fits any scheme, a bit raw. Mediocre ball production.

45. D’Angelo Ponds – CB – Indiana – 5’-9” 180 lbs. – Fast, athletic and strong undersized CB that fights well above his weight class. High effort. Size may restrict him to inside only. Or not.

49. Keith Abney II – CB – Arizona State – 5’-10” 187 lbs. – He is an outside press man CB that will probably move inside as a nickel. Physical against the pass and run. Collected flags like people collect stamps.

54. Keionte Scott – CB – Miami – 5’-11” 193 lbs. – Physical, intense nickel CB that can defend the run and be used as a blitzer. Lacks ball production.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

70. Davison Igbinosun – CB – Ohio State – 6’-2” 189 lbs. – Excellent length, a willing run defender and physical at the catch point. ’24 was a flag fest. Better in ‘25

89. Daylen Everette – CB – Georgia – 6’-1” 196 lbs. – Smooth athlete with great size and a willingness to tackle. Can get handsy and allowed too much underneath catches for my taste.

103. Malik Muhammad – CB – Texas – 6’-0” 182 lbs. – A sticky scheme diverse cover CB with good patience and is a smooth mover. Slender frame is less than ideal. Move inside?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

112. Will Lee III – CB – Texas A&M – 6’-1” 189 lbs. – Long, outside CB that excels in press man. Good ball production. Can get lost in zone coverage.

117. Devin Moore – CB – Florida – 6’-3” 198 lbs. – Great length and physicality from a press man CB, willing tackler. Injuries in 3 years will cause a med. Red flag.

118. Julian Neal – CB – Arkansas – 6’-2” 203 lbs. – Tremendous athlete that works in any scheme. Good in run support. Lacking long speed.

122. Tacario Davis – CB – Washington – 6’-4” 194 lbs. – Perfect build for a Cover 3 heavy team, good ball skills and wins in contested situations. Not physical enough in run support.

128. Jalon Kilgore – CB – South Carolina – 6’-1” 210 lbs. – Has played in the box, as a STAR and as a nickel. His size is great for TE matchups and jumbo slot WRs. Lacks recovery speed when beat.

138. Charles Demmings – CB – Stephen F. Austin – 6’-1” 193 lbs. – Scheme versatile with excellent ball production and good size. Not the most fluid of athletes. Senior Bowl film only.

140. Chandler Rivers – CB – Duke – 5’-10” 185 lbs. – Love his combination of physicality and ball skills. His lack of size slides him inside.

143. Domani Jackson – CB – Alabama – 6’-1” 194 lbs. – Misplaced as a press man that was better in zone coverage. Excellent size/speed combo. A bit of a stiff athlete.

150. Ephesians Prysock – CB – Washington – 6’-3” 196 lbs. – Zone corner with excellent size and length to disrupt at the catch point. Stiff hipped limits his movement speed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
178. Thaddeus Dixon – CB – UNC – 6’-1” 195 lbs. – Scheme diverse, OK athlete, lacks fluid hips to flip and go with WRs. Run defense is no bueno.

182. Hezekiah Masses – CB – Cal – 6’-1” 179 lbs. – Ball skills are off the charts, ideal length for zone coverage. Athleticism and tacking are subpar.

193. Toriano Pride Jr. – CB – Missouri – 5’-10” 185 lbs. – Undersized perimeter CB that will need to move inside, aided by his physicality. Not a ton of ball production.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

219. TJ Hall – CB – Iowa – 6’-1” 189 lbs. – scheme diverse inside/outside CB that lacks the long speed to hang downfield. He is a tough run defender and could end up inside or at safety, due to his lack of speed.

224. Jadon Canady – CB – Oregon - 5’-10” 181 lbs. – Athletic, smooth slot only CB that lacks the size to hang tough against the run.

225. Andre Fuller – CB – Toledo – 6’-1” 200 lbs. – Good size and length for a zone scheme, solid tackler. Lacks the speed to stick tight in man coverage deep. Shrine Bowl only.

255. DaShawn Jones – CB – Alabama – 6’-0” 190 lbs. – Played the ‘Husky’ position (again, think Star or what Lake plays) Decent ball skills and a more than willing tackler. Lacks experience and is a tad undersized.

Really nice class, I just wish they had a bit more size overall. The top 2 are CB1 upside guys, I think McCoy answered questions at his pro day and I'd have no issues drafting him early. Tier 2 is where its at though IMO. I really like Ponds, Johnson and Scott. If Scott somehow got to 61, he would be my Rams pick no doubt. I just love his athleticism, speed and dawg. I think he can survive outside as well. Johnson is so steady and technically sound. Perfect CB2 type. Scott is a nightmare as a nickel slot. Prysock on day 3 is my favorite later draft pick. He might go way earlier than I have him. Andre Fuller later on day 3 would also be a HR. Overall, plenty of slot corners, Outside CBs and zone or man cover guys throughout the draft.

SAF:

6. Caleb Downs – SAF – Ohio State – 6’-0” 206 lbs. – elite football IQ, always around the ball, playmaker. Best fit may be to move him around and make OCs account for him pre-snap. Average athlete.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

12. Dillon Thieneman – SAF – Oregon – 6’-0” 201 lbs. – Rangy, high IQ that is position diverse. Quick to react. Not a thumper against the run.

21. Emmanuel McNeil-Warren – SAF – Toledo – 6’-3” 201 lbs. – He’s an enforcer on the backend. Plenty of range. Sloppy technique can get him in trouble. Box or split safety.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

52. AJ Haulcy – SAF – LSU - 6’-0” 215 lbs. – Plays like a LBer, but had a ton of ball production, film junkie. Average athlete with average speed.

80. Treydan Stukes – SAF – Arizona - 6’-1” 190 lbs. – Film junkie walk-on turned team captain. Fluid and fast, can play in the nickel or as a FS, split of single high. A tad lacking in the run defense department.

85. Kamari Ramsey – SAF – USC – 6’-0” 202 lbs. – Versatile SAF with excellent range and play recognition. Run defense is just OK. Recovering from a knee injury.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

96. Genisis Smith – SAF – Arizona – 6’-2” 202 lbs. – Long and rangy ballhawk with excellent pass coverage skills. 33 missed tackles in the last 2 years.

102. Zakee Wheatley – SAF – Penn State – 6’-3” 203 lbs. – Tall with plenty of range and can play man and zone coverage. Solid tackler. Not the most physical safety in the class.

108. Bud Clark – SAF – TCU – 6’-1” 188 lbs. – Ballhawking 3 year team captain with tons of range. Has ST experience. Willing in run support, but lacks some sand in his pants.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

135. VJ Payne – SAF – Kansas State – 6’-3” 206 lbs. – Long, position versatile, team captain. Good ball skills. Not a physical run defender.

170. Jalen Huskey – SAF – Maryland – 6’-1” 196 lbs. – Excellent ball production and skills. Good, not great in run defense. Lacks a top gear.

172. Michael Taaffe – SAF – Texas – 6’-0” 190 lbs. – high IQ, high character walk on, tons of ST experience. Good ball skills. Below ave/ size and strength.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

204. Bishop Fitzgerald – SAF – USC – 5’-11” 201 lbs. – Nice range and a ballhawk with OK speed. Can take poor angles in run defense.

207. Lorenzo Styles Jr. – SAF – Ohio State – 6’-0” 194 lbs. – WR turned SAF, so raw. ST experience. Uber-athletic upside with developing skills. Lacks SAF instincts, for now.

211. Louis Moore – SAF – Indiana – 5’-11” 191 lbs. – Above average ball skills and run defense, plays under control. Average at best athlete with short arms.

216. Isaiah Nwokobia – SAF – SMU – 6’-1” 205 lbs. – Good in the box against the run and has nice ball skills, he lacks speed to hang with WRs deep, so a nickel or box safety seem to be his best position.

222. Robert Spears-Jennings – SAF – Oklahoma – 6’-2” 205 lbs. – Scheme diverse and solid as a run stopper. Pass instincts are a bit slow.

230. Jakobe Thomas – SAF – Miami – 6’-1” 211 lbs. – Excellent size and temperament that makes plays in both phases. Too many missed tackles.

256. Ahmaad Moses – SAF – SMU – 5’-9” 196 lbs. – Twitchy little hedgehog with excellent ball skills. Size limitations moves him inside, to the slot.

257. Xavier Nwankpa – SAF – Iowa – 6’-2” 208 lbs. – Love his last name, the fact he is the last write-up I have to do and his size and athleticism. A bit slow reacting to WRs and needs to get stronger.

Fun, deep class led by a defense altering talent in Downs, he isn't a world class athlete, but he is a coach and leader on the field, he can deployed anywhere and he flat out makes plays. Tier 2 is not far behind and both absolute studs. Haulcy and Stukes are 2 of my favorites. Both are serious film junkies, one an enforcer, the other a ball hawk, both are winners. Taaffe is a sneaky day 3 find that can immediately help on STs. A serious Rams fit is Bud Clark, Senior Bowl standout and 3 time captain with serious ball skills. He screams Rams. Nwankpa is a name I like really late and a name I left off is Cole Wisniewski from Texas Tech by way of NDSU. A serious split safety/ box safety and playmaker. The class is just so deep. Louis Moore is another culture fit and a guy I bet improves STs and adds depth.

It's not easy to make it a full good year in the SEC. So I don't ding him that bad. I'd have to guess but I think I'm feeling a Ryan Tannehill kinda vibe from him ... but more accurate and a coach's kid. My Brother thinks we'll draft him to not have to worry about a backup or who we're grooming. I don't think so, but I would not be angry, just a little miffed. Main difference is that I cover close to 600 players, maybe more. And I cover their entire career of visibility. I'm generous with my grades ... assuming that they'll be dra ted in a solid situation. I try not to listen to unverifiable info, but if it matches body language I was curious about I am unlikely to ignore it (see Mekai Lemon). The 5-6 round section enters the gray area ... Would I draft them? Yes, I have them draftable ... but I'd much rather they slide off the board. Again, it's numbers. I have more guys listed than are going to be drafted ... by a lot.

RB is not a focal class this year, both because we don't need one, and because there is a large separation at the top. When I do these grades, I put a lot of time in because I play high level fantasy football. So I'm still deeply interested all the way down the board ... I drafted Monongai in a league last year, for example. Now, as far as type ...J'Mari Taylor is our "type" ... walked on at D2 school ended up really running the ACC this year. 4.65 guy ... but footwork and power through the gaps is his game. Are we going to draft him? I doubt it.
I see two options for us. Nick Singleton or Demond Claiborne drop far below they should and we might snag a speed guy. Singleton is not JUST a speed guy and neither is Claiborne, who is basically Achane. That's the only draftables I see. But the UDFA pool has some really good under the radar athletes. I feel like most will look at Cash Jones and someone might end up drafting him, but Dean Connors of Houston is actually my target. He's less known, bigger, and only .06 slower (4.45 instead of 4.39). 20-25 RBs get drafted a year, my guess is this year it will be less than 20.
Entertaining trade: Rams 13 for Jets 33, 44,103, 140 (9 replies)

Jet's to me are always a wild card.
They have 2 first round picks. Why not make it 3? They would virtually control the first round draft with those 3 picks (2, 13, 16).

Jet's give the Rams both of their 2nd round picks plus both of their 4th round picks for the Rams' 13th overall.

And, they are really well positioned 2nd rounders, as is their top 4th. The bottom 4th is just before the top of the 5th.

With three 2nd rounders, the Rams are going to get 3 immediate contributors... which is good because they don't need any starters. There's going to be really good WRs and probably OLs at the top of the 2nd round. Maybe even a CB or DT that slid.

The two 4th's fill in the middle of the draft (which Les positively loves).

Yeah, fantasy of course. But, with the Jets, nothing is off the table.

My draft thoughts 2026 (part 1 of ???) (7 replies)

Hi Guys & Gals,

Of course this is the time of the year when all minds are concentrating on the draft. I see many many posts about who wants what and the board rankings etc., etc. It's all very interesting. One of the big topics on everybody's mind is do the Rams, stay put, trade down or even trade up possibly. So I thought I'd lay out my thinking (just as good or bad as any other fan) and see what everyone else thinks about my thinking. I'm sure someone will come up with an idea or thought that I hadn't had, I sure hope so anyway.

As you can see in the title, this is part 1 of we shall see how many parts I need to explain my thinking. This first part is analyzing the team needs of the Rams as we go into the draft. What I did below is analyze each group or room for the Rams as we stand now, in my opinion of course.

1. First of all I went through all the position groups and found the ones that I think could be upgraded this year through the draft. The groups that I came up with are:

a) ILB group: Speights is a good hammer but limited player, he comes off the field half of the time because he's not so great in coverage. Landman is a great captain, good run stuffer and so-so in pass coverage. So I think this room would be the easiest to upgrade on the team and have a good affect on the field.

b) WR group: Our starting 2 players are really good of course. But, Adams will probably only play for us for one more year and Nacua is showing signs of off-field issues that only the Rams really know if it'll be OK or not. If the Rams think that Nacua really has some issues and he is going to have a tough time going forward, then they might consider trying very hard to upgrade this room in the draft as insurance for both or either of Adams and Nacua this year and next.

c) QB room: Notice I didn't say QB only, everybody and their Mother realizes that Stafford only has 1, 2 or maybe 3 years left in all probability. Although, Stafford is 38 right now, and, for example Brady retired finally when he was 45. So, who knows? Although I think that also really depends on what Stafford has communicated to the Rams. If he has told the Rams I'll go as long as it still feels fine, then who knows. If Stafford has said "look, I'm gonna play 2 more years and that's it" then the Rams are probably thinking to add a QB this year or next. If there is one you like in the draft that you think could turn into a replacement in 2 years, I think you have to take him.

To me that's it really. Of course you could upgrade any room on the team probably with a top 10 player. For example Downs for the safety room, or Love for the RB room etc., etc. There are some others too of course. But, in almost all likelihood, the price for getting one of these players will be really high. Too high in my opinion. Also, in my opinion except for maybe Love it wouldn't be worth it. For example even getting Tate (if he's really the top WR) doesn't really change the WR room because it's already so good (with the top 2), and you can get a player who is pretty close to Tate anyway in the middle of the first round and maybe all the way to the 2nd. The safeties and CB rooms are already covered with re-signings and trades. The RB room is already pretty good, the DL and edge group is good and the OL group also is not gonna have a new starter this year either. Same for the TE room.

That's it for part 1. I'm curious to see if anybody has some different takes and what those might be.

I am downgrading Tyson for his injury much more than I am for McCoy.

McCoy would add depth to Forbes in year 1. I could easily see McCoy earning material playing time this season. And when Watson's deal nears the end we have a replacement in house.

I do have a higher opinion on McCoy than most others it seems. McCoy is in the top five on my Rams draft board.

Draft System (4 replies)

I built a Draft model that uses positional importance, positional need, and overall player rating to come up with insights on what positions to pick and why.

Each position is assigned a rating for how important that position is to winning and a need rating. This creates a positional draft factor for the position--a number that we will apply to the player's individual rating to increase or decrease their value to the team. I weighted the positional draft factor to care more about positional value to winning than need (65% vs 35%)

Then I plugged in the top player at each position, without much thought to actual individual player ratings. Then add the positional draft factor to the player's individual rating to create a final DraftRank for the player.

Curious if NFL teams do any similar analysis. I like how this puts a quantative spin on positional value and need/

Blinkscout 2026 WR (16 replies)

I do these lists each year ... things to note. Im light on descriptions, there's an entire internet full of that. I mainly read the guys on the board so you don't even have to leave the site. I have more guys listed than are going to be drafted ... by a lot.

Couple things to mention here ... I'll give some explanation of the top and bottom of the list. There are usually 30-35 drafted ... I have 33 through round 6 and then 50 in the UDFA section. . The guys in the 7-UDFA range "in the top half" all stick out as having enough potential to warrant signing after the draft. Some just on athleticism ... but usually a combo.
Tyson would be a top 5-10 pick except for injuries. Now, he hasn't injured the same thing twice ... true. But ... I worry about whether or not he takes care of his body if nagging injuries prevent him from taking care of business. If his workout and stretching routines are acceptable, he's a steal at 13. He has some of the most seamless change of direction I've seen and great hands. Carnell Tate runs a 4.40 and he's top 10. This doesn't mean he's not a beast, and I think he could be a true #1 ... just means I think drafting him top 10 is drafting for need. Omar Cooper only has one year of production and even then he didn't serve as WR1 super often. He just has done some special things, and I've read about his dedication and work ethic and he comes off like Deandre Hopkins did his final year at Clemson. Lemon would be top 10 ... but I can't ignore the murmurs of attitude when I kinda saw that vibe on the field. Issue is double with us because Puka has shown more immaturity lately. Finally I think with Denzel Boston, who I really like, you're looking at a slightly slower Chad Johnson (While M Fields is a Houshmandzadeh, oddly enough). Skyler Bell is being uderrated and getting him at 61 would be a crazy possibility. Concepcion ... I don't do hands issues. Chris Bell is injured or he's in the first round convo. Being hurt going into your first year is a problem because you get further behind than in any other year.

2026 WR

Top 10

10-20

OSU 17 WR Carnell tate 6-2 185
So.
Jr. seriously strong hands

IND 3 WR Omar Cooper 6-0 201 So.
Jr. one hander, tough after catch

USC 6 WR Makai Lemon 5-11 190 So.
What draft value chart do the Rams use? (7 replies)

The Professor and I engaged in what I thought was a really interesting topic, essentially what draft trade chart should we use when predicting or analyzing trades the Rams make that involve only draft picks (no players involved).

I have always used the Jimmy Johnson chart [www.drafttek.com], but the Professor suggested that most NFL teams have moved on to the Rich Hill model [www.drafttek.com]

We each did some research and what I go out of it is that some version of the Rich Hill model is most certainly used by some teams, but in reality every team probably has their own proprietary model and we as fans will never see any of them.

Which presents a problem: how can we discuss potential draft pick trades without knowing what chart the Rams use?

I did an analysis of the 12 draft-pick-only trades the Rams made in the last 4 drafts to see if we could deduce the answer.

Using the Jimmy Johnson chart, the Rams 'won' 6 draft-pick-only trades in the last four drafts, lost 5, and tied 1. (The details are in this post [ramsrule.com])

Using the Rich Hill chart, the Rams won 2, lost 8, and tied 2. (Details here: [ramsrule.com])

Just looking at those two statements makes me think that what the Rams use is closer to the Johnson chart than the Hill chart.

But I see more evidence just looking at their trade with Atlanta last year. The Johnson chart says the Rams won, giving up 796 points and getting 856 points. But the Hill chart says the Rams lost giving up 257 and getting 249.5.

Everything I read about that trade says it was initiated by the Falcons and the Rams were reluctant to make the trade until the Falcons made them an offer they couldn't refuse. That makes me think the Falcons overpaid to make the trade happen, lending even more support to the Johnson chart.

Although I obviously don't know what the Rams use it seems to me that the Johnson chart has been a better predictive tool for the Rams than the Hill chart. For the time being I will continue to use that one, but I will keep my eye on Rams' trades going forward to make sure it continues to be the more appropriate model.

If we actually do pick at 13 in the first round this year, will it be a bust??? Trotter of Missouri was mentioned by name, and the Rams have met with him. Dane Brugler's The Beast has him as a hammer of a hitter but lacking coverage skills, which gives me pause. Mind you, everyone will have a flaw somewhere.

Can we talk tight ends? (7 replies)

i rewatched highlights from the Lions game last night. One thing in particular really stood out to me:

Colby Parkinson is capable of making some great catches, RAC and being a real weapon in the pass game. I hated the transaction when we got him, but I see now why we did. He probably needs more targets. He could/should be a pro bowlers with enough opportunities.

In addition, we added Ferguson last year, and gave him his traditional "rookie redshirt" season that McVay gives to almost all pass catchers not named Nacua. If he is 80% of what they think they were getting, we have two stud pass catchers at TE.

Maybe 3, depending on what you think of Higbee. I am uncertain what we have there - but he is a solid TE at the least.

Allen is our 4th, and is probably as good as most team's second TE, although I don't see anything special on the rare times he catches a ball.

I guess my point is - how good do you think our TE room is? Would there even be touches for Sadiq if we drafted him at 13? And how does this stable of TE's impact our WR rotation? There are only so many touches to go around.

No one is as good as JG for the Rams as 1) backup QB, 2) Bridge in 2027 (8 replies)

The Rams have about as perfect of a backup QB as you can get in JG.
Guy is a winnner, and a vet QB with Superbowl experience. Been with the Rams 2 years and knows the O systems and the players inside and out. And, because his body has been spared from playing a lot in these last couple of years, and because of his character, he is the perfect bridge QB should Stafford hang'em up after this season. He will manage the offense well, and will be a good mentor for a younger guy. Won't be expensive.

I'd give him a 2 year deal, push most of the money into '27, and make it all guaranteed plus incentives so he has a good reason to stick around.

I think the Rams are giving JG the opportunity to evaluate the market AFTER the draft, and for him to see if can land a better paying bridge QB for 2026. If no takers, I think the Rams will resign him. Or, at least, they'll know the market value and decide whether that works for them or not.

When is the last time the Rams had a "no needs, no holes" draft? (12 replies)

I honestly can't think of draft year like this one, where every single starting position has a veteran good player filling it.
Add to that the 13th pick, and this is a position teams would die for. Quite unique

So, to me, the strategy shifts. No rookie is going to oust a vet.... not even at ROT. And, I really doubt any WR would take over the WR3 spot. We've got some awfully good young guys who are on the ascent. No matter who we might draft, they will have entirely new systems to learn, and much higher level of opponents to face, and much better players on their own team to try to leap over.

We can speculate, but this draft will reveal what the Rams are thinking only when it is over.
