The simplest explanation is that I felt I was expending too much emotional energy on football, and the best way to scale back was to continue watching the games, but to refrain from daily commentary and discussions on the team's progress.

I decided to pop in today to give my thoughts on where this season is going. SPOILER ALERT: some may find it a bit Pollyanna (but, hey... I am who I am!).

I'll start with the conclusion. I still think the Rams will be in the mix as the season gets to its late stages, and that this team can win it all.

Obviously, two things must happen. First, the Rams have to weather their tough early season schedule. That means, at a minimum, that they win at least one of the next two games. While a 2-3 start is far from ideal, the Rams have climbed out of holes before (3-6 in 2023 - made playoffs, 1-4 in 2024 - made playoffs). The schedule gets easier after the Bills game, and I think the Rams could go on a nice winning streak in the middle third of the season.

The second thing, of course, it to get and stay healthy. While all teams have injuries, few can say they've been missing two of the Top 10 players in the league (Puka, Garrett). We've yet to field the best version of the 2026 roster. Hopefully, that will change.

And so, my gut tells me that this storm will be weathered, and the Rams will be in contention as Winter approaches.

As for me... As the NFL returns to London this week for the Washington Commanders vs. Indianapolis Colts game, the novelty of the international game could be wearing off.

With seats still available for the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the league opted to cut prices in an attempt to fill out the seats. However, that decision appeared to annoy certain fans who already bought tickets, a sign of the league's continued lackluster efforts in the area.

Among those who are angry at the NFL is the NFL's international fan of the year from last year, a London resident named Andy Burrows, who bluntly called out the league. Burrows claims that the NFL cares more about how the international games look on television than the international fans in those cities.

Here's why Burrows, and other London fans, are angry at the NFL.

Andy Burrows, the NFL international fan of the year in 2025, criticized the league ahead of Sunday's game between the Commanders and Colts in London. Burrows explained that tickets for the game were listed at up to $325, but the league slashed the prices when they weren't selling, frustrating fans who bought tickets already.

"They don't care about the fans. As long as that place sells out and it looks good on TV, the NFL won’t care about us," Burrows said, via the AP News. "And I'm not alone. I speak to fans every day."

Burrows is a Commanders fan who was among those to buy tickets for the game at over $300 each. This is the first time that the NFL has slashed prices like this, showing less demand for these games, which Burrows believes will have a ripple effect over time.

"People now will just be like, 'I’m going to wait. Why should I buy a ticket when they get released?'...That's the risk they’ve done — depending on the games," he said.

During the 2026 season, the NFL has eight international games on the schedule, including three contests in London. The NFL has been sending games to the United Kingdom since 2007, which started at one game a year but has ballooned to, now, three.

However, the league's insistence on expanding its international footprint could be coming with less interest than in the past. Per the AP News, the NFL raised prices for the games after eliminating its London season ticket package, but has not seen the same level of ticket sales than in year's past.

The NFL is set to send three more games to London in 2027, with the series extended all the way through 2029.

Having said that, it's Ventrone's job to make him better. Give him better blocking through good practice and game plans and I am not sure Ventrone has done that yet. Maybe he needs more time?

The poor ST's aren't 100% on Smith but he is the focal point that everyone sees and is responsible as well. Did Ventrone also call out the others for poor blocking in defense of Smith?
