Myles Garrett’s knee was a situation they’ve managed for weeks since the initial injury. Sean McVay said they hoped he could play through it and learned in the game that he wasn’t nearly himself.

They did not consider leaving him in L.A. like they did with Aaron Donald.

Shula adjustments ... Rams in 4-2-5 until big runs starting 3rd Q, moved to base 3-4 with a nose, and a 3/4i tech. In first half mostly two DTs, no nose.

You can go after Shula, fine....but don't say he didnt "adjust' you can criticize Shula, but be accurate

NONE of those teams won on opening weekend. And not just that... all 3 of them looked like @$#@. It was the worst for me.... because IMHO the Ram's debut was the worst... Chargers at least looked like an NFL Team... Bronco's not so much. :laughing.

Friday Night Lights CAME THRU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Moose's Kerman Lions went 4-0 beating one of their chief rivals 14-0.

Couple Plays... first one the opening kickoff. I like this one because I've always said there is Track Speed and there is Football Speed. They can differ. Moose, in Red and #18 is nearest the camera.. he chases down and stops a TD on the kickoff by catching one of the fastest kids in the valley in the 100. Second play: Nope, Moose didn't get credited a 'sack'... Intentional Grounding!

I understand what excitement Myles brought and how it went right to dreamland how he was going to work with...wait...wait ....AD COMING BACK!

How many times have any of us made strategic plans, maybe for a trip, only to have them uprooted? Did you turn into a whipping post, damn, nothing works for me......or did you still go on the trip, with tweaks here and there.... come back from the trip saying..." Dang, this trip turned out better than I thought it would, even with having to change this and that, and you know what it actually was a good trip"?

The RAMS signed him to improve their output, it's still not out of the realm for that to happen, but again it's not so much about we got screwed as it is more about we have Stewart and a look at Bailey coming up....to me that is just a step below what Myles brought to the team....after all isn't Stewart supposed to take the place of an Pro Bowler in BY anyway?...Isn't that something to be if not excited about at least a good bit of interest?

AD is still out there in the wings, but again I warn a guy who's been out 2 years may not be what he was, but still a solid addition. WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed outside linebacker Myles Garrett is set to undergo knee surgery and will be placed on Injured Reserve.

"The reality is, our job is to put our players and our team in positions to have successful outcomes," McVay said Monday during a video conference with reporters. "Thought we would take an approach where he'd be feeling good enough to go contribute positive change and be the player that he's capable of. That wasn't the case, and so the next right thing for us is to be able to get this thing fixed. In the meantime, we'll look forward to whenever that time is that we get him back. But that was kind of what went into the decision, and now we're moving forward."

McVay said they decided to go in that direction after McVay spoke with Garrett following McVay's postgame press conference, "in terms of just listening to how he felt, how he was able to impact the game," and seeing how Garrett and his group felt. McVay said the Rams thought Garrett's knee was something Garrett could manage, "and that wasn't necessarily the case."

McVay also said he didn't know yet what Garrett's timeline for return will look like – whether that be the four-game minimum stipulated by being placed on IR or long-term – until he has more information on how Garrett's surgery goes.

Once placed on IR, Garrett will miss at least the Rams' next four games: Week 2 versus the Giants on Monday Night Football, Week 3 against the Broncos on Sunday Night Football, Week 4 against the Eagles, and Week 5 against the Bills on Monday Night Football.

"You feel good about it, but I think it'd be unfair to him, or really just without having the totality of all the information, to put any sort of timeline on it," McVay said. "We know that he'll be available in four weeks potentially, and so we'll just take that a day at a time."

Garrett, who missed the majority of training camp due to what McVay described as swelling in his knee, played just 62% of Los Angeles' defensive snaps against the 49ers in Australia. Asked in his postgame press conference if his knee was painful, he said "yeah" and later added that "this was the worst version of myself that I put out there."

"I wasn't the player I wanted to be," Garrett said. "I didn't feel like I was the player I've been before when I stepped onto that field. But I got to do what I can to get back to that."

Asked about his number one focus going into Week 2 against the Giants, Garrett said: "Getting healthy. That's the main thing."

"When I was out there, I was a little more focused on myself and trying to stay healthy than what they were doing, and that showed," Garrett said. "I wasn't who I needed to be for my team."

Asked whether they had a conversation with Garrett about not traveling to Australia to give him more time like they're doing with defensive end Aaron Donald, McVay said "the direction that we went with Myles and the direction we went with Aaron are totally separate situations and circumstances."

McVay said the Rams haven't decided yet if Donald will play on Monday Night Football against the Giants.

"He's going to continue to work his process, and we'll see what that looks like," McVay said.

"Positive" updates on Curl, Landman, Allen; Speights "making positive gains right now"
The Rams did get good news on a handful of players who were injured in last Friday's game.

McVay said safety Kam Curl, who sustained an ankle injury, was able to return to the game and described that injury as "some ankle soreness." McVay said Curl "is good."

Inside linebacker Nate Landman "got his shoulder and his thumb," according to McVay, but is still expected to be ready to go for Monday Night Football against the Giants.

Tight end Davis Allen, who was evaluated for a concussion, returned to the game, per McVay.

McVay called those updates on those three players "positive." He also said inside linebacker Omar Speights sustained a hip pointer and "has got some swelling there ... but he's feeling better than what we had anticipated."

Before Sunday’s games kicked off, there was big news involving a team that had opened its season earlier in the week.

Rams defensive end Myles Garrett needs knee surgery and will miss at least four games because he’ll be placed on injured reserve while he recovers. The news came after Garrett made no impact in last Thursday’s loss to the 49ers and cited his health — his practice time was limited all summer because of the knee — as a reason for his ineffectiveness.

On Monday, Rams head coach Sean McVay said, via multiple reporters, that the team thought the injury was ""something that he would be able to work through.”

“Thought we would take an approach where he’d be feeling good enough to go contribute positive change and be the player that he’s capable of,” McVay said, via Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com. “That wasn’t the case. And so the next right thing for us is to be able to get this thing fixed.”

McVay said the team will not have a firm idea about Garrett’s timeline to return to action until after the surgery. McVay should give play calling duties to Scheelhaase until further notice.

Focus on emphasis on 13 personnel.

Remember to stick with running game because it’s a darned good one, especially with 13 personnel.

Get Ferguson prominently into the passing attack. He’s reportedly had an impressive camp.

McVay needs to turn Shula loose and let him get creative again. I believe McVay is kinda tying Shula’s hands with demanding that soft zone crap with two outstanding man coverage CB’s at his disposal.

Shula should bring blitzes if he’s not getting pressure with just 4 guys.

Give AD substantial snaps. Let him play himself into football shape from here on out.

McVay is just making far too many inexplicable head scratching decisions and it’s hurting the team.

I am suggesting this despite believing that McVay is the best overall HC of my lifetime, mind you.

It means little to nothing in the long run. There is ZERO correlation to the final outcome of the season.
Injuries to key players matters more.

Naturally every game matters. But to imply that the winners are going to jump ahead, and the losers are going to fall behind, is an erroneous assumption.
