It is a mental thing..and I give HUGE kudos to McVay, Goff and Gurley for not throwing any shade at the OL....but it all starts there. No one on this board thinks Goff is Joe Montana yet, but like any QB, if you apply pressure it affects your psyche. If anything, I commend Jared for not losing his $#$@ .... he is definitely missing some throws he needs to make, but on the other hand, he is undby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
For all the Goff haters or doubters... these clips say it all.... the same kid that led this team to a Super Bowl just months ago, is getting hammered ...and hammered hard.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
....I couldn't agree with you more. I'd like to see MORE people post. I'm guilty of posting more after losses for the conversation..... I'm tired of arguing that Goff has elite talent, that McVay is a great coach but learning on the fly (and losing coaches from his staff every season) and that the game of football is always.....ALWAYS.... won with the offensive line and playing from the pocketby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
I only gave this thought this morning....but could it be that he is suddenly missing those 'voices' that may have helped him to be the dynamic coach that he is? He did try to get Kingsbury, remember? I think it would be interesting if they are on the phone to Jay Gruden. But I'm guessing Gruden wants to be a HC.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
Someone needs to have a serious talk with him. He is falling into Martzian habits. Not seeing Todd having his best game and just moving to a rotation?? Not good. I'm officially considering this season as a 'college' season for McVay.....he is hopefully learning very valuable lessons. One of them may be parting with someone he loves in Gurley. Todd needs to be running until he can't run aby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
He has always looked more like a guard to me. I think he is salvageable, but I wouldn't play him at tackle.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
It's brutal to watch. The play calling is miserable, soft and filled with too many gadget/deception attempts. The OL is a massive, massive liability. I'm choosing to believe McVay is learning something from this season (because I think it would take a miracle to turn it around) His plan for Gurley is not working. Play him until he can't run or move him to the bench.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
They have zero players that intimidate outside of AD. They are soft. It has been a big problem for a long time. Shots of players laughing on the sidelines while losing do nothing to help this....by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm choosing to believe he is learning and growing through this, even though it's clear the light switch hasn't come on yet. I love the guy, but he has clearly hit a wall this season..... and has not adjusted quickly. Your example of the 9ers OL woes....and look at the Seahawks the past three seasons, the Packers last year and others......really shine a light on a problem with McVay. There isby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
Thank you for posting the article! Not digging the way Todd is answering questions. I know he could be saying much worse things or causing division.....but I'm highly doubting that Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, Marshall Faulk and other greats would answer "nah, I'm good with my touches, I'm used to it." UGH....by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think this is one of those seasons you look back and see that just nothing went this team's way. From losing the SB, to the off season, to injuries. Next year we open a new stadium and these problems have to be addressed or the fan base in Los Angeles will not show up for games. Wouldn't you agree, that overall, it's just a weird NFL season across the board? KC is faltering, the Bearsby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm not a good GM type, but those salaries are nightmares. Looking forward to smarter people than me commenting and telling us how this works....because those three stand out as bad.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
Fantastic post Dead. Everything you wrote is true and seems to be catching up to this team much quicker than even I imagined. I'd like to add a couple of things/concerns: 1. Weddle looks done - constantly out of position and misses tackles frequently. I'd like to see them get Rapp in there and have Weddle coach him up as a back up. I love his veteran moxy, but it isn't showing up in hisby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
Contract or not, they will have to do something. You can't have a RB in this offense, who can only run 14 times a game. Not for that $$ Based on watching Todd's reaction to things.....I think he knows it.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
Todd looks fairly disinterested in the entire season. He isn't involved in the passing game, rarely gets enough play to get in a rhythm and seems more interested in Call of Duty and Pizza Hut. I don't like the look at all. And seems to hold true to him not being voted a captain by his teammates. Bummer, I love the kid.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
Year Four: 4,131 yards 26 TDs 23 INTs 84.7 QBR He needs a line and complimentary running game. Imagine that.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
And who didn't love watching them call play after play after play of four receivers going 5-7 yards and running a curl....just standing there?? Frankly, it's possible they could make the playoffs, but I think it's a lost season as this point. They had two weeks to prepare for this team and showed up with "this"by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
That offense just looks stupid. Plain stupid. They're resorting to gimmick plays now, with flea flickers, double screens and FAKE PUNTS inside the opponents red zone???? I'll be crucified for saying this, but it's so bad that it almost looks like they're throwing games. It's that dumb. Gurley doesn't play in the 4th? They have a designed play for Bortles?? Ramsey plays ten yards off theby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah, I know....conspiracy theory. But NFL football is part talent and part luck. This team has had terrible luck this season, with injuries, pathetic officiating, etc. They need to learn and grow off this season; I think they come back better next year, but I think the two biggest challenges are: 1. McVay's offensive play calling 2. The offensive line Honorable Mention: what do we hby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
.... I miss the days where football players were always exhibiting the emotion that they cared, they were locked in during the game. I don't know what is going on with Todd, but I don't like all the distractions for him and his attitude when on the field. ...really bothers me.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
....same mentality, same problem. They're trying so hard to make things happen. This is likely a 'lost' season, so I hope they put their best foot forward in learning some things, fixing fundamentals and improving their coaching.by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
.....what is his deal????by Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
They would need a massive crash by other teams and a massive turnaround for this lost team....and I don't see either happening. I very much hope this is a learning season for all of these players, coaches, etc. I truly believe they can bounce back very, very strong next season and once again be among the elite. However......gulp.....probably shouldn't write this .....but..... this kind oby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
There are too many games like this one. This feeds the conspiracy theorists...and it's hard to argue with them. And the play calling??? Going for it on a punt inside their 20???? 5-7 step drops with three starting OL hurt??? Brown over Gurley in crunch time??? This season is likely over...... and it is all VERY strangeby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
I love McVay...for many reasons. But he has gone straight stubborn, bizarre....and "mike martz" this season. It makes ZERO sense to lose to teams like Pitt. Terrible. While we are at it, why did we go out and trade for the league's best man to man, bump & run CB, only to have him play 10 yards off the ball? Why was Gurley out and Brown in?? Why do other teams run twoby Ram49 - RamsFootballFans.com
