QuoteRam49 I sincerely think that Goff's problems may be a little his limited athleticism and a dash of McVay's inexperience and high control/micromanage system with his QB. Andy Reid wouldn't have developed Goff this way. Nor Frank Reich. Goff literally only knows Boras high school offense for a season, then a Sean McVay, in his ear, high control offensive system. I think that is wherby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRam49 According to Todd McShay, he isn't much better than Goff. Definitely more mobile/athletic. I'd like to see the comparison to draw my own conclusion. I thought McShay said he wasn't much different than Darnold? Did he say the same thing about Goff also? I think I missed that one.by Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRam49 No way. I think he is a bright coach, that is just turning 35 and lets his emotions get in the way at times. He also has not grown as a play caller. I'd keep him; I'd bring in an older coach to help (sorry to see Wade go in that way) He is the age of some of his players.....whether we like it or not, that age thingy causes tension in every job or profession. QuoteSteve Despite all this, super bowl is my expectation with Goff or Wolford..... McVay allowed contracts to Woods, Kupp and a few others, and now the Rams have no freedom; McVay is a great coach, and part of the problem. I have lost A LOT of respect for McVay and so will many, many players like Woods, Kupp and O line guuys who fought for Goff..... McVay is over his head with the junk hby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRam49 He has been exposed. He has been suffering since losing to Chicago in 2018. He has never adjusted, not in the Super Bowl, not in 2019 and not last season. Blaming it all on Goff now. It simply cannot be 'the genius' coach on any level; must be all on the QB. I hope fans are ready. Barring some incredible trade, I see some tough times coming. So you would get rid of McVay then iby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteheadslapper Yeah I almost mentioned that as it is a potential factor. Not sure we could take on that dead money this year already being above the cap as is. If we take on the daed money I predict we move forward with Wolford, if we do not take on the dead money (timing of trade) then I could see Watson But really, who knows, they most likely need to come up with a general cap solution forby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotedzrams QuoteRams43 Quotealyoshamucci Likely Goff, 3 1s and a 2 ... Not sure about that high of a price, Alyo, but yeah, my gut is telling me that Watson will be a Ram. I keep thinking about how smug Snead was in that interview. Exactly like a guy that knew how this movie was gonna end, you know? I’ve called many a large bet at a poker table with less confidence than this, trust me. Lby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
Quoteheadslapper agree that there are teams in need of a QB and Goff is a viable starter. I think the main factors working against him are: 1. salary, he is paid as a top 3 QB and is not a top 3 QB 2. Mobility, the league has changed, Jeff George would not last in this league as a starter the same way, running QBs are the new thing 3. System QB, how much this impacts evaluation by otherby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotedzrams QuoteRampage2K- I know I heard Jimmy G does, but can't find the info in Goff? Cuz I don't see Goff going to Detroit or Texans willingly that's for sure Did a google search on Jimmy G and it quickly pulled up sources indicating that he does indeed have a no-trade clause. Did the same search on Goff and no source mentions a no-trade clause. It's fair to say, Goff doesn't have sby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
That's what I was thinking also. Plus, I firmly believe the Salary Cap will not go down much if any. I've heard a plethora of talk (podcasts, articles, etc) that makes a lot of sense dealing with the salary cap, future TV contracts, quality of product on the field, etc to get me to feel that we might not be in as much salary trouble as we thought.by Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 Here’s Mackeyser... I’m on my phone, but I’ll try. Rams may have known about this trade request as it happened which was WEEKS AGO. This did not come today. Ramsey and Watson share an agent. Also, the timeline with McVay starting to no longer talk up Goff aligns almost exactly with the actual date of the trade request. Quoteden-the-coach The Guy has done nothing good was QB Coach in Buffalo, remember Nathan Peterman? Just looking at his resume only OC once in his career at Texas El-Paso for one year, long stay with the Eagles from 1999-2010 nothing jumps out at you plus IMO, just an uninspiring hire. Quotepromomasterj How do you go from 34 million cap hit to 6 million so easily? The other team would be on the hook for the other huge chunk of change? Does that make him less desirable as a trade target? Actually after all is said and done, the cost for Jared would fall into around the QB 15 range (average cost for a QB in the middle of the pack). So this could actually help in a trade sinceby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 Thanks for sharing your impressions, Speed. Yeah, I’ve got a feeling that something’s brewing. Might or might not be a Watson trade, but I think that McVay has come to the end of his rope with Goff. Calling Wolford Flutie-like. The sideline body language. The non-expression of support post game. And on and on... We know that once Snead/McVay decide on a personnel move tby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah I listened to it the other day. Love the insight about all of this. Jourdan is theeeeee best! I put her intellect up there as an equal with McVay. I really thinks he respects her level of questioning when they interact. IF...the Rams wanted to move on from Jared, the cap hit isn't as daunting as one might think. QuoteBigGame81 Rivers is now retired. They don't have a top-15 pick. Last I checked, they are good with the cap. Wentz was the popular guess there but seems like Philly might hang on to him. This probably makes the most sense, right? Goff for OG Nelson sounds good. :thumbsup Drastically improves our o-line like Timmerman did. QuoteRamgator WHY in the hell would the Rams change a concept that was THE reason we even smelled the Playoffs this year?? Or have a Coach that has to change to adapt to what we have?? Makes ZERO sense! I certainly hope the Rams have more smarts than that. Yeah this would be...stupid. I think McVay is smarter than this. Let's see what he has to say if he hires Morris. He definitely is worth checking out. We have to remember that he played for the awful Jacksonville Jaguars. I think his skill set would fit well in our offense. Why not see what McVay can do for him. He is young, shows obvious leadership skills, can throw all the routes and is mobile. He will be relatively cheap and you don't lock yourself in with a long term high salary player. Do we know for sure the Cap is actually shrinking? Have they confirmed this? I might have missed this info.by Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
After reading all of these threads, it's obvious we all have our opinions on McVay and Goff. All I know is McVay is still a very young head coach and still learning. As long as he can self assess himself and continue to improve, I'll support him as coach. Just running more 12 personnel shows he is evolving. But like any other offensive coach, he sometimes falls in love with the pass when hby Ram Fan Teacher - RamsFootballFans.com
