Are you suggesting that the Rams hire Fangio to run the Fangio defense? From your lips to God's ears!!by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
With Hendo on IR the Rams' RB room looks like this: Michel, Funk, Howell, and Akers. Funk has 2 carries this year for 5 yards. Howell has 5 carries for 11 yards. I can see the Rams using either Funk or Howell (or both) just to give Michel a break, but I fully expect Akers to get in, too. He might not get in much, but he'll get enough work to get him ready for the playoff game nextby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Hughes picked 23 after Akers said he was going to switch to 3 next year and also after Akers tore his Achilles. At the time Hughes picked his number it looked like 23 was available this season. According to this article Akers announced a switch to #3 before May 17: After initially eyeing a change when the league approved the new rule allowing single-digit numbers for running backs and seleby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
The Ravens actually had 165 yards rushing. But 54 of those yards were by Huntley ... on 6 carries. Garoppolo isn't going to do that: he only has 50 yards on the year (on 37 attempts ... 1.4 ypc.) Other than Huntley the Ravens had 101 yards on 26 carries, 3.9 ypc. 32 of those yards came on one Freeman run around left end. Without that run: 25 carries, 69 yards, 2.8 ypc. They can't have 8 teams make the playoffs in each conference and give 2 byes. If they did you would have 6 teams play in the wild card weekend and then you'd have 5 teams left in the Division round. Now what? If they did add yet another wild card team then all 8 teams would play in first round and no one would get a bye.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Lewis is still on the 53 man roster - been there all season. But he's been the forgotten man since the Packers game. He was active against he Jags but didn't get in the game. And then he was inactive against the Cards, Seahawks, Vikings, and Ravens. He could be active against the 49ers - and will be (I hope) if the Rams think he can help more than someone else. But Lewis doesn't play spby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

I wouldn't say that at all. I don't think understanding the schedule is an indication of one's intelligence at any level, only of one's interest. I can't speak for The Professor, but for me I find the symmetry and mathematical patterns of the NFL schedule fascinating. I know it's not for everyone, but it's nice for me when I run into some who appears to be a kindred spirit. There are a lotby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I always like it when I read a schedule post from someone who actually understands how an NFL schedule is built. Thank you!!by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks for that - I don't think I watched that game at the time. I like how the announcer is complaining about face guarding on the play that starts at 5:20. Face guarding is legal in the NFL so if that's the only issue then the Lions had no beef. But there was interference and a flag was thrown. No idea why the refs picked up the flag. Oh, wait ... And that's exatcly my point. Stafford had three playoffs games where he was on the inferior team. And he lost them all. Kind of 'dog bites man' story to me.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Of all three games it seems like this was the Lions' best shot. But as 7 point underdogs it would have been a notable upset. Wish they had done it, though: I hate the Cowboys.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJimYoungblood53 That Lions defense was good, one of the best defensive passer ratings. Good run defense two good pass rushing ends, Suh in the middle...two good LBer Levy and Tulluch they deserved more pro bowlers Lions were in the game---leading , Stafford played well Stafford threw 2 4th Q picks-and it was over. In fairness, this was a team just getting beaten by the better teby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
A lot has been made of Stafford having never won a playoff game. The Lions made the playoffs three times while Stafford was there, each time as the #6 seed at a time when only 6 teams from each conference made the playoffs. So, arguably the Lions were the worst team in the NFC playoffs each time. And as it turned out the worst team in the NFC playoffs lost all three times. Sorry, I just caby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Oddly, both Ourlads and ESPN show Reeder and Rozeboom as the starting ILB's with Howard as a backup. And while I don't really think Rozeboom is gonna start over Howard he is probably their 3rd ILB. (And no, that does not give me the warm and fuzzies ...)by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
I thought Jones was playing some inspired ball and I, too, was concerned about his loss. But after looking at it I think it'll be OK. Looking at the snap counts ... Jones actually became a started in week 8 against Houston: "Ernest Jones played the most snaps of any inside linebacker, out-snapping Troy Reeder 54 to 39." The Rams traded former starter Kenny Young the weekby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
See the confusion between the Ravens' DBs: Then see both DBs run with Kupp while no one covers Jefferson: Must have been fun breaking down film for this one. That was certainly a possibility. But they had to put him on the 53 man roster regardless: a team can only promote a practice squad player twice in a season and the Rams had already done that with Powell. It was either promote him permanently or find someone else to return kicks and punts.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
What is better? To get to the red zone 66 times in a season and score 38 TDs. Or get to the red zone 50 times and score 34 TDs. Seems like the first team (Rams) scores more points than the second team (49ers). Isn't the idea to outscore your opponent? I mean if the 49ers made it to the red zone 10 times this year and scored 8 TDs ... that's supposed to be good? 80%, right?by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
Each NFC division plays everyone in an AFC division every season; what division it is cycles thru in a specific repeating sequence. For the 17th game the NFL goes to the 'opposite' division (North/South or East/West) and adds a 17th game from that division. Teams from each division play the team that finished where they did (1st vs 1st, 2nd vs 2nd, etc.) Further explanation looking at how thby AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com

The screen shot below was taken just after Stafford released the ball into triple coverage. (That blur in the circle is the ball.) Jefferson is uncovered and would have had an easy first down. Here are the possible scenarios for the 49ers. 1. SF wins * 49ers — No. 6 seed. 2. SF loses, NO loses, PHI loses * 49ers — No. 6 seed. 3. SF loses, NO loses, PHI wins * 49ers — No. 7 seed. 4. SF loses, NO wins * 49ers will be out of the playoffs In Scenario 1 the Rams would have to finish as the #3 seed. Not sure who else has to win or lose for this to happen. "A Gunslinger is going to throw picks, Favre did it as well, but he never stopped throwing and usually brought his teams back to win ..." I also think of Kurt Warner as that type of gunslinger. In his two Super Bowl season with the Ram (1999 & 2001) he threw 13 and 22 interceptions respectively. 22 int's in 2001 and the Rams still had an NFL-best 14-2 record! Like you, I think it's possible that the Rams could host the NFC Championship game of they hang onto that #2 seed. Although it's not likely that GB would lose at home to Dallas or Tampa Bay, stranger things have happened. However, it would be three home playoff games for the Rams if it comes to that, not 2: Wild Card game, Division game, and Championship game.by AlbaNY_Ram - RamsFootballFans.com
