The offense can be playoff caliber and possible elite if everyone performs up to expectation and we don't get slaughtered by injuries. However, we do have decent depth and can sustain a reasonable level of injuries. Except at QB of course. Defense is a big question but I think the have a chance to surprise. However, I would expect the to have some issues early on due to all the youth.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com

QuoteRams43 Quoteden-the-coach QuoteRams43 Ironic, isn’t it? After all those years of spending like a drunken sailor with both cap dollars and premium draft picks now the Rams are fiercely holding the line financially. They don't want to spend their money, this year. Next year several edge rushers could shake lose including Chase Young. Time to save today so you can spend tomorrow. Thanks for posting the transcript. I would much rather read it than listen to it.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
If Mathis makes it through they will IR him with a return option and bring back someone who they cut.. Perhaps the kicker?by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams are one of the leaders in comp picks. They have consistently had a younger rosters. You get comp picks when you develop players and they go and sign with other teams. I would say over the last 2 years they have focused more on win how than on developing young talent as they were in a win now mode. Now we have shifted and are building a young core for the future. Gosh did Bennet look terrible or what. Simple throws behind the WR and when he was on target it was to the wrong team. Body language looked terrible too. And where was the Athletic qualities that are always touted? He looked to slogging through mud. The breakdown was a total team effort and I expect him to rebound but this was a stinker.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
When you look at the good the bad and the ugly and only have a punter in the good column you are in big trouble. Especially when the rest is ugly.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Of all the things we have to worry about this year I don't understand the obsession with the offensive line. Boom is not going to make or break the success of this line. Anchrum is fine as a starting RG. If Boom is healthy and up to snuff on the position change and starts that if fine too. I am not going to sweat it until I hear that Hav's is out and Bruss is starting in his place. Hopefby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Maxie was on that great Rams defense when I first started watching the Rams as my team as a 10 year old kid. RIP Maxie.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks for the observations. Still seem like the end of the roster is still full of questions.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I wouldn't get to worried yet. Winning is not the objective of these games. Lot of this is figuring out last 25 guys for Roster and Practice Squad No real game planning Few guys that will be in rotation playing with a bunch of rookies. Expect rookies to get better each practice and each game. Should be a hockey stick growth curve.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I just want to give a shout out to recognize Youngblood who has been providing outstanding posts with detailed analysis and insight. I love these transcripts too.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Great Chart. Donald is most of DL spending This is the year to push all the dead money into. Big cap relief for next season and lots of young & cheap talent on the roster.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com

This article has 15 Rookies making the team. 1 QB 1 RB 1 WR 1 TE 2 OL I DL 2 Edge 1 CB 2 Saf 3 ST Plus there are probably a few more that would make the practice Squad. We will be a young team with Veteran Leadership.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteClassicalwit Let's be honest; it's completely possible, and probably mathematically likely, that most of these players won't be able to contribute much. The Rams are depending on an unusually high number of low draft picks and UDFAs to develop into capable starters, and as much as we'd all like to hope, it is not likely to happen. I expect a lot of them won't even be on the roster next yeby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Last years squad was decimated by injuries which would be hard to repeat. However, I don't feel last years team was that bad except for their luck. The wheels really fell off the and when they did it exposed some serious issues, especially with the coaching staff. But I agree we are much healthier and ready for a reload of talent. The cap space short cuts came due and we paid the price.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree Bennet was drafted to provide a decent backup QB for a couple of years and a very cap friendly price. Surely he will prove to be an upgrade over Perkins and Wolf. Can he be a stop gap after Stafford retires? Maybe but that would be a huge boon though it might indicate we are really struggling at the QB position. Quotestlramz Lying about his intentions and then trying to get Shad Kahn to pay to give up right of first refusal when Rams sold by Frontiere heirs Chip and Lucia. I figured if shad played along Stan would have bought Jags and moved them to LA. He never gave @#$%& about the Rams, just the business (nothing wrong with that just an observation) That said, I agree he is a top drawer owner in teby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Hard to get excited when they haven't even put on the pads yet.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
When looking at the Rams defense stopping the run looks like the most obvious area where there is uncertainty. Gone are Robinson & Gaines and their replacements are big question marks. Bobby Brown? Copland? Rookie Turner? Williams?. What you see is that the Rams are undersized except for Brown who so far has shown very little. With lots of youth projected on the edge you have to imagiby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Totally agree health is a big issue. Boom and Allen always seem to find a way to get hurt. Jackson seems like more of a one time event. This offensive line is Deep, Big, with lots of positional flexibility. We are in a good position to sustain a normal or amount of injuries and still be successful. This is probably our deepest position group and we have young guys that will only get betteby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think Kupp, Jefferson and Atwell can all lineup at any of the WR positions and I expect that trio to be on the field bunch, especially the first 2 guys. Let's face it Atwell is really the only guy with the speed to really stretch the field. Jefferson and Kupp can get open deep but Atwell has the speed that can force the defenses to play deeper. If he isn't on the field we lose that aspecby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Jourdan is great first of all. 2nd since OTAs there Rams have been on vacation and there really hasn't been much to talk about other than speculation about a young roster which only goes so far. As camp develops we will get real information and gain a better understanding of things and there should be a lot to talk about. In a way this year may be more interesting than most as there is aby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I never believe the rumors about trading Stafford unless you are officially going to tank the 2023 season. Stafford would be a huge cap hit if traded on a team with no cap space. Rams would have not cap money and only a 2nd rounder to find a Rookie QB who will be on a multi year learning curve It would have been a sell low type of trade because of the injury and poor season. Now itby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the Rams recognized that they lacked speed at the WR position and in general on offense. Last year was a cluster as Stafford's injury never let him get in sync with Robinson or any of the other WR except Kupp. This hurt Tutu also as he became a lower priority and Skow could bring some blocking. When Tutu got regular snaps at the end of the season he looked pretty good. He showed he caby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Tutu was a 2nd rounder and GM's miss on them all the time. OT Robinson was the 2nd pick in the entire draft and it looks like Tutu is at least an NFL player. Who's to say if they didn't pick Tutu that they would have picked Humphrey? 2nd round busts are about a 50/50 and Tutu could end up on the right side of the 50 if he has a good year. Perhaps there is some recency bias? Think bby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams have 4 TE and probably only 3 spots. All are NFL players. Do they try and trade Hopkins? Carry 4 TE's and hurt another position like WR or CB? Higbee and Hopkins are free agents after this year and if they are focused on winning this year Higbee will be a lock to be on the final roster. I am interested to see how this develops during training camp.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
On the surface I think I agree with this article but time will tell. I expect that there will be lots of surprises yet to come and hopefully some good ones. Like the emergence of an Edge guy or guys and perhaps Turner . Be interested to see how the WR room develops too. Overall very positive and even provides some hope for DB field.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
