It seems pretty clear that McVay is relighting the fire under this team. We have some pretty promising young talents. We will probably win more games this year then expected. By the end of the year, we might find ourselves in the playoffs. But … we ain't ready for the evil empire. They are a fully mature team with elite talent everywhere. And we are very green. Not this week. We might be reby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Normally, I don’t pay much attention to those miced up videos. Pretty dull hollering. But I watched the one with Higbee and I really enjoyed watching the man block. I know—it’s a highlights reel. But he really can block. I used to play T E and I could feel in my bones the challenge of those blocking assignments. I loved how solid and effective he was. A real treat. I never understand whyby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
We all know that red zone efficiency is a key which the Rams have often failed to wield. 3 rushing touchdowns last week. That could be the stat of the week. If you can run the ball in the red zone, your chances of converting rise dramatically. Opposing coaches are going to be watching those three runs on the goal line and realizing they must do more than take away Cooper Kupp. I'm prettyby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Hi folks. Like many, I didn't expect much this year. I figured that we would start out 0 and 2 ... Then we beat Seattle. Zowie. That young defense looked pretty good. And this was the key: Ball possession by the offense. Like many of you, I see good things happening on our defense. But, please, they have an awful lot to learn. 12 yards in the second-half. Cool. But we had the ball mostby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I felt he was great in doing the things solid NFL QBs do. Reading. Making decisions. Sliding and adjusting. Throwing darts at multiple levels. With normal, limited backups, you are always wondering what they can get done with severe limitations. Watching him, I just felt I was watching a competent NFL QB. A team could win games with a guy like that. Been a long time since we felt that way abouby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
That mediocre teams routinely stifle them? And we can't? I don't think the key is pass rush. I think it is run D. They have beaten us with muscle running the ball. Largely due to weak ILBs. This year, our run D is much stronger. To me, that is the key. Make them face 3 and 8+ and we will get stops.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamsDynasty They are strong in a place to exploit where the rest of the League doesn't typically mind being weak. The Rams typically invest in their off ball linebackers less than any other team in the league and the Niners have exploited the heck out of that during the Shanny v McVay era, while teams with less talent had a much easier time handling the Niners. Wagner and Robinson. Wagner gives us a chance to be genuinely stout aganst run. Robinson gives a big target with superb hands. Red zone, baby. Kupp PLUS Robinson? I believe we must improve on our weaknesses to thrive against this brutal schedule. These 2 guys give me hope for substantive improvements we need. The other thing is a hope. But I don't think we can rely on the razor thin margins of last year. Let's say we win a dozen games. And finish 2nd to the Whiners who know how to overpower us. And we lose the 1st or 2nd round playoff game. I don't think any of us will be thrilled with that.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Robinson? Sure. Repeat? Talk to me after we play some contenders. 6-0? I'd be shocked. Pleased, but shocked.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
What has me worried. Next week ... reality, not theories and fantasies. We'll see. Been watching this team since '68. Been heartbroken a lot of years.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the defense must lead the way. If it is genuinely elite, I think we can have a memorable season. We face multiple elite offenses. And we don't have the running game to keep them off the field. What am I asking? 1. Throttle the run, even against power units. 2. Get off the field on 3 & long. 4. Severely limit big plays. 4. Get red zone stops. I think we must improvby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Harris has yet to demonstrate the ability to catch the ball even regularly, let alone when contested. Can't have that. And it's hard to learn hands. Allen and McCutcheon offer big targets for goal line and short yardage. Hard to see what Harris has that they don't do better.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Wolf and Perkins are each half a quality QB. Wolf is a better read and pass guy. Perkins has poise and the ability to make things happen. Fused into 1 guy, you'd have something. Split into 2 ... not so much.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Demby was a total lump. I have no idea how he lasted so long. I don't think Evans is that bad. But ... They probably figure Arcuri will clear waivers. And I don't know that Evans is safe from further moves.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I'd say we are pretty spotty in building an OL that is a strength. Hav is a solid but limited ROT. Joe will probably be fine, but I doubt he will be much better than league average. After that, our OTs are pretty dodgy. Allen is adequate at OC ... barely. Maybe. Our guards are probably OK. Our depth is very shaky. Green, at least. Each year, we hear that the OL coach will figure itby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Were not speedsters. Raymond Barry. Steve Largent. Carter of the Vikes (1st name?). Jerry Rice. Rev. Ike. I am not sure Snow was a burner, though he was really before my time. Was Swann a burner? I guess we could dispute the idea of a burner. But route running ... getting open ... and catching the ball. These things are the gold standard and they do not require elite speed. To me, McVay is by some distance the key to our follow up season. His mastery of the overall campaign gives me hope. His occasional flakiness looms as a potential faultline. Can he start outcoaching Shanahan? Other than injuries, McVay is the key to the season.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com

But this will be something. We have confidence based on proof of concept. No lingering "can we do this?" nerves. And we face the challenge of keeping our edge. I am bewildered by NFL Nation's refusal to recognize Matthew's greatness. "Oh, but he throws picks ..." so did Favre and he was adored. But the ability to steal games in the 4th Q ... Nothing is more valuable than that. Not a damn thing. It is THE football gold standard. It's why QBs get W/L stats. It is overwhelmingly more important than picks, half of which aren't the QB's faby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
I thought Wolford read the field and threw very well. He hit some fine passes. But with the scrub OL breaking down, he just got swallowed up. He had no capacity for standing in there and making plays under duress. Some small QBs can play big. Wolford can't. I cannot imagine him running an offense under pressure. QuoteSoCalRAMatic The OL looked like it got very little push and the backs had to start cutting before they could get up the field. This is the exact opposite of what I saw. Even on 1st viewing, I saw the OL as a unit driving upfield, over the LOS. Again and again. Well, we see different things sometimes.by RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
Last year, as you say, we hit a brick wall way too often. That's when the impulse to abandon the run arises. Now imagine that we had been getting 3 to 5 yards on those plays. Just that. No chunks. Completely different situation. There would be no temptation to abandon the run. And the passing game would take off. This is why I say that getting over the LOS consistently is a better measurby RFL - RamsFootballFans.com
