QuoteRampage2K- Dallas was probably my least favorite choice to see out of the three we had before last weekend between the Hags, Bears and Cowboys , but it will only make us stronger. I know this Rams team fear no team...we shall overcome all takers!!! Rams are winning the Super Bowl this year:yes Thought I was alone. I didn't want Rams to face Cowboys either. Funny you use that story because that was not a good series for Goff. Rams were at Chargers 5 yard line. It was a 2nd down play and Goff held the ball for 6 seconds. He didn't have to. He had Higbee on a post behind the curl zone and in between the safeties. Next play, he stares down Everett and doesn't see Woods open on a cross. DB jumps in front of Everett for the INT. TO instead of a TD froby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
This was 3rd down on the first FG drive. Here's another shot. Everett literally ran into a defender on his route. Reynolds is running right by a flat footed defender playing zone. Reynolds is already open and Cox who would sack Goff is still 4 yards away at this point. If Goff let's the ball go here, Reynolds has a good chance for a TD and there would be zero pressure for this play. Insteby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Here's another one. Reynolds is already coming open on his corner route. Ball is still in Goff's hands. This was 3rd down on the first 3 and out. He ended up throwing to Reynold's any way, but late throw allowed defenders to close in. If Goff let's this ball go earlier, he has a better chance for a first down. 3 and out instead.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Here's an example of holding the ball. Eagles play Cover 3 zone. If Goff recognizes it, he should know that Reynolds in the seam would be open. If Goff let's this ball go earlier, it's a TD, and the pressure does not have time to get to him. Instead, he gets sacked and we're kicking a FG in the redzone.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
My only evidence is from looking at tape. Earlier in the season, I would see many instances when Goff would anticipate the route and let the ball go before the receiver hits the open window. He was throwing the ball before the receiver is looking or even with the defender or before the receiver's break. I just haven't seen that at all lately from him. But you made me do some research, so see aby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
It's not just the OL. Goff is holding the ball longer. I'm guessing it's because teams are disguising their coverages and making Goff read the defense post snap. And he's not used to it. I think it's mostly on Goff. He needs to get better at figuring out what the defense is doing post snap. Looking at tape, guys are open. Goff just needs to find them.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
The pass was there. Goff had a hard time figuring out what the defense was doing and held on to the ball too long. OL didn't help either. Bears committed to stopping Gurley. He had a spy or two on him the whole game. The DT's often slanted towards where Gurley was. The DE's were mostly in wide 9 technique. That's why most times he got the ball, there were two to three guys already there. IMby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Just wow. What a treat to have your stories on this board. This story is special and will be shared to many for years to come, and I'm privileged enough to be one of the first to read it. Thank you.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Sorry. Just saw this. Cover 3 man and zone combo. Four man rush with stunt on the right side. Goff has a seam route and a post route that takes advantage of Cover 3 zone. Right before throw. Once Goff recognizes Cover 3, he should've made the seam or the post route his primary. Gurley could've had a first down also. Actually, Kupp was open for the first too. Woods was open. Goffby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
We're still leaving plays on the field on offense. Especially red zone. That's how you lose to a playoff team and keep a bad team in the game. This on the first FG drive. If Goff recognizes he has single coverage on the outside, this is a TD instead of a FG. This on the last FG. If Goff throws this at Cooks break and keeps it low like he's done in the past this is a TD instead of a FG.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
So. Defense plays Tampa 2 zone. Rush 3 against 5 blockers. LDT plays man on Everett running a middle curl right into a defenders zone, and Goff throws him the ball. My opinion. This is an easy read. No one followed Kupp on his motion so should be zone. Post snap the two safeties part the field. Classic Cover 2 zone. Holes for cover 2 is the post and the corner. There was only a 3 man rby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Just because you asked. Here are some stills on first down play on series after Ebukam forced fumble. Here are the routes. Cooks shallow cross left to right. Reynolds shallow cross right to left. Woods running a corner from the right side. Kupp running a post from the left side. Brown running a wheel from the left side. Defense. 3 defenders playing deep 1/3. 4 defenders playing middle zoby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the Rams show up in this game and win big. Goff will have a great game. Brees will not get his stats until close to the end. It will not be close! Go Rams!by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 “But 7-9, I just think the accountability – the accountability as far as everybody being on the same page, having just really strict core values of what this game is all about and what we’re about, I think we didn’t have.” I still remember a Hard Knocks episode when during a position meeting, Greg Robinson was sitting on the ground eating a bag of potato chips. 7-9 is probaby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
There are really only two keys for me... Starts with OL. These guys just need to play well and figure out blocking the stunts that have plagued them the last few weeks. If the OL is on their A game, my second key has a better chance for success. And that is Goff. We left some plays on the field against GB. That game should not have been close. Partly due to OL not giving Goff enough time. Aby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
This was on the last FG drive. DB tries to press Cooks and fails miserably. Goff stays with a well covered Gurley on the left and doesn't see Cooks wide open for a TD on his backside. Great call by McVay. If I was Goff, I'm making Cooks my primary everytime a DB comes up to press him. Cooks has been eating up press coverage all year.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamsFanSinceLA But we don't know what was called or what the progression was supposed to be. It's obvious that Goff decided on a progression pre-snap, and that he didn't change his progression to take advantage of the defense. I think it's something he needs to work on. I just believe that what the defense does post-snap should dictate progression instead of being set in stone pre-snap.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamsFanSinceLA It looks to me like Cooks was not the first read as Goff isn't looking his way. Problem with that is that reads should not be static. First read should be dynamic depending on what the defense does post snap. A QB can't be in the huddle and say no matter what happens I'm looking at you first. Should be something like.. if the def plays cover 2 zone my first read is the poby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
3rd and 6 at Broncs 46. Cooks is on a wheel route on the left side. DB on Cooks comes up for an inside press. Cooks jukes DB on the inside and is wide open for a big gain. Sack and punt instead. Once Goff sees DB come up to Cooks for an inside shade, Goff should've staring at Cooks the whole time. Inside shade on a wheel route is a huge matchup advantage for the offense. I call it as I see it. Look at my post history. I was one of the first to say that Goff was showing some elite throws. Regarding games against Chargers and Vikes, I had nothing more to add to what everyone else was saying. This week was diff. I disagree with many that McVay's play calling was off.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
It's technically not RZ. But close enough. 3rd and 2 on Broncs 21. Broncs showing man as DB follows Cooks motion. DB on Cooks gets picked. Cooks gets wide open in the flat for 1st down and possibly a lot more. Goff needs to recognize the coverage here and realize he needs only two yards. Should've made Cooks his primary in this case. Would've been for a big gain. FG to end drive instead.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
There's also the mentality of attacking a defense right after a turnover. I don't mind McVay being aggressive. We are where we are because of his aggressiveness. The play was there. Goff can make that play and has in the past.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Some fans were down of McVay's play calling especially in the red zone. Went back to confirm. And in my opinion, McVay is making some great calls and it's just a matter of time before we start cashing in in the redzone.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
First FG drive. 3rd down and 6 on Broncs 8. Broncs play straight man and double Kupp. 4 rushers are blocked nicely by our 5 guys. Kupp gets bracketed but gets inside position on over defender. Under defender is not even looking at ball and Kupp has plenty of space in front of his route. Call me crazy, but I've seen Goff make this play before. Throwaway to back of EZ instead.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
From watching the game again, coach made some great calls on offense. Player execution is what kept this game close. I think it was Sag who mentioned it. But Goff seemed tentative in this game. And I saw that on the rewatch. Goff wasn't the same gun slinging QB that I saw the weeks prior. Maybe the Broncs D showed him something he didn't expect. Maybe the INT's are making him think twice. At full strength, this team should be favored to win against anyone, even against the Patriots. If GZ was playing the last two weeks, those games will not even be close. And last game I feel that injury to Kupp had a big impact on Goff. I still feel Rams will still get home field advantage. And by playoff time, we should have GZ and Talib back. Barron should've knocked off the rust. New playerby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
