every time i hit him thats where i wished he would end up. you cannot protect anybody on the football field. Qb needs a great offensive line, if they can't protect him i resent you changing the rules to protect him. you get self protection when you step across the line. you think qb's would complete all those passes if it wasn't for all these rules. i still think that Johnny Unitasby Deacon Jones - Deacon Jones Chat Thursday April 5th at 9pm est.

hardwork. potential ain't gonna get you nothing but a lot of bonus money. it will fool you for awhile but it ain't gonna last. Repetition and hard work every day of your life is whats going to cut the mustard. Players today can't figure out why they're not succeeding. You're not committed. the first couple of years of the super bowl we should have been the first team in the bowl. 1967=68 SB was in Los Angeles we had the best record in the game but had to go on th road, green bay minnesota, now the girls play in a dome. We didn't get home field advantage one time. How can a team like that beat a 11-1-2 team? well, how do you measure toughness. each one of those guys with the exception of charlie are HOF's. You ain't gonna come at me by yourself, i was too quick and too fast. I have a lot to be thankful for for playing against those guys. Gregg had the best technique in the game next to munoz. no we didn't listen to the crowds. crowds would take you down a false path if you listened to the crowds. To much stuff going on line calls qb checks we had to concentrate on that. we didn't allow any dancing either. you wanna dance on me i'll break your leg. if they stupid enough, somebody snitched anyway. that had no business coming out of the locker room. We got paid incentives not bounties. if i lift a bounty on your head you're going to the hospital sucker. if you got hurt that was your problem. i guess in today's world incentives are bounties. we sang on national tv together. we recorded on capitol records together, we did everything together and we loved each other like brothers. nobody lived outside of the defense, we all played within the defense and nobody played it better. we were good but we had a few things that didn't pan out for us. but we were all very close and played for each other. dudes now dont know anythinby Deacon Jones - Deacon Jones Chat Thursday April 5th at 9pm est.

i'm a man that invented the headslap, well i didnt invent it but i slapped heads and gave a few guys concussions. i'm not proud of that but i make no excuses for what i did on the field. i will be having an educational program on concussions and the long term effects. there ain't no difference. we were tougher, mentally tougher, we trained harder. we played the game because we loved it we just happened to get paid. when you start playing for money you got problems. we played every down, every sunday and every practice. guys made 5,000 yr when i came in the league. i made 7500. i got 5 specialist now and thank god i had my own insurance becby Deacon Jones - Deacon Jones Chat Thursday April 5th at 9pm est.

i don't care what people say, i'm the sack master and everybody knows that. The nfl is scared to include me in the history books that way. I had 50 sacks in 2 yrs, nobody was close to that. i only played 14 yrs you know. what i did without a lot of games. I had 6 straight all pro years, who has done that? thats dead on and the balance approach I took was becuz I got $500 per sack, called incentives. If we decided you did an injustice to us we were going to put you in hospital at not extra charge. We dont run the to the sidelines and ask for extra money, we're gonna take you out whether it was your qb or whoever. We were never inspired by bounty money.
