He wouldn't have been my choice from among the depth QB options, as I preferred the kid who went to the Vikes. But I respect Bennett and what he accomplished at Georgia. I don't think people realize how much resilience it took to do what he did. He is that guy who beats the odds and then proves everyone who doubts him wrong. So I am not going to discount him. I do think his ceiling is QB2.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRockRam Broncs gave a bag of chips for Wilson. But, to do so and pick up his salary just goes to show you how frustrating it is to get a QB in the NFL. Wilson has been around awhile and still can't do much. So, why is Payton picking him up at all? What possible upside to the QB room can Wilson be? A punching bag? If Russell Wilson can't please Payton I can't imagine how he'll feel about Zaby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Newton and Robinson would be an insane haul in the first two picks. I doubt Robinson gets to our second round pick but boy would it be nice. Funny thing is that if I knew Robinson would be there in round 2 then I'd be more apt to take an OT or WR at 19. But I think if you want Robinson you either take him at 19 or after a small move down. A lot of people are sleeping on him I think, in teby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
The two of course are quite different. Mayfield to my eye was more instinctive in his play and reads, and had more boldness to him in the pocket. Nix is a bit less settled or comfortable in the pocket. The mentality of the QBs is something I value highly. To me Mayfield was much more of a McVay type QB in mentality and boldness. We saw that a bit, how they fed off each other in energy, in thby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I think the position they would most likely move up for is LT. I think a ton of elements line up for this: Blindside has been an issue since Whit retired. Stafford only has a couple seasons left, maybe a few, and if he keeps taking hits the way he has that window will be on the short end. They rarely draft in real estate where there is a LT available. Quoteden-the-coach Hopefully not great, but a good hire for Seattle IMHO. Have to agree. Hated the hire because he's going to do well there. That defense is going to be a pain once he gets them tooled up.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
It starts with projection based on where the Rams are likely to slot Turner and goes from there. They still may opt for Newton or Murphy if they like the DL combination overall with Turner opposite one of them more than the other way. Maybe that feels better to them than going Fiske later on or one of these others who look like 5T or NT. There is room to think they covet penetration and perhapby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteDeadpool These are my final positional rankings. Some of these guys could end up on 2 lists (RB, WR, OL) I put this is in a separate post from my Big Board to make it easier to ask and answer questions, but if the admins want to join them, I do not care. Quotesince68 Tom Brady made a career out of throwing 6 yard passes on 3rd and 5 to "small" quick receivers who knew the offense, understood defenses and had numerous quick moves they could use to get open - Welker, Amendola, Edelman, Brown, etc. He also threw 5 yard passes on first down to the same guys knowing it was fairly automatic and kept drives going/got them into 2nd and shortby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Which is to say he will be a great QB who is a lefty. Stabler as everyone knows was a lefty. He was a partying, crazy SOB who was fearless in the pocket. He was a QB who had magic to him too, the way he could find guys in big moments, and good things happen on the field in his favor. I think Penix has a lot of similarities to him. Now where they are different is raw arm strength. Penixby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Is he isn't that typical juiced edge type teams prefer up top in the draft. This is on top of a very serious injury flag. But nothing would make me happier than to see him drop to us. He may not have that ultra high ceiling you get with the twitchy freak types. But we sure could use a high floor edge rush element so I am hoping he gets to us and they pick him.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
It's really tough keeping the list to four: 1. OLB Latu. Our need for edge pressure is profound and he's the best pressure generator in this draft. So many of his snaps affect the QB, which means like with Gurley I will just say ok fine I'll take the injury risk and let's try to get him as many one on ones as possible and coach him up. 2. S Nubin. This dude adds strength to your defensivby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Latu plugs in day one and adds pressure to this defense. Pairing him with Young would be fun to watch. Keep saying the one QB who fits McVay is Penix. Deep ball is there. He is brave in the pocket. Everyone knocks the injuries but had he not suffered them he is probably a lesser QB. Knowing he doesn't want to run around grew his ability to win from the pocket. And Dorlus would be an exby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Which is the way to do it for backups when you have a strong offensive staff. I think Jimmy is an excellent backup QB. We are lucky to have him, just throw him in the whirlpool a few more times to wash that SF stank off him.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
The depth is crazy up top. Latham certainly has a chance but what concerns me with him is he's had top coaching and talent around him and should be the top tackle but he's not. So I tend to favor some of those others over him personally. If the Rams take him though I'll cross my fingers and hope he hits. He certainly has upside but I don't think he is special in that way in this particularby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com

Those are the two things I'd prioritize. It isn't easy to win from the pocket when the rush is trying to tee off on you. Producing consistently on a short mental clock is demanding, it's draining I am sure, and some guys simply aren't wired to do it. So that toughness in the pocket cannot be taught and by extension it is something I prize quite highly with QBs. And the other element is beinby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteCoy Bacon Reynolds choked too often in big games. I really liked him and I always thought he could turn into a stud WR. But when they let him go I was fine with it. Last year in the Det. playoffs Reynolds choked I think on two key passes. Many Detroit fans commented negatively on this. They're fortunate that he moved on. He is one of many who fit the Rams I'd think. But for myself I'd like to see the Rams transition to more physicality and size up front given that AD's presence won't be in that room any more. They're not gonna change what they do up front, at least I don't expect that. Happens to all of us from time to time I'd think, to a greater or lesser extent. It sucks and if you have the right stuff then you take that BS and use it as fuel. When it comes to wideouts McVay's wheelhouse is mini-TEs. The underneath possession type weapons who are smart and physical but also smooth in and out of their breaks and can break YAC. QuoteRamdemic I guess I don't get the urgency for wr in the second, especially with our current depth chart. I don't see the impact that a edge, DT, ILB or even RB could provide. That would be something I could get behind. OL would be set for years and QBs would kill to come here the moment Stafford hangs 'em up. I think it is a given that they will at least attempt to take advantage of this class. Also it is a need for us in terms of adding speed and downfield threat to assist our underneath strength with Kupp & Nacua.
