I'm not sure if McVay gave Goff a run option here. But this would have been a great chance to audible to a run play to left. We had 4 blockers on the left with only 3 defenders and only inches to go. Could've been a huge run play.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Wasn't intending to nit pick. I loved watching this game. Rams dominated in all phases. Somebody already mentioned that this was like week 5 against Niners in 99. It was very obvious that Rams was the best team on the field. Plus, I like Goff. And have mentioned in the past that Goff can make all the throws, athletic and has poise in the pocket. I also realize that he's still learning aby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm not sure if Gurley was even an option. But would be nice when Goff will start seeing these. Probably next season. Edit: This was on the 4th and 1 interception.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com

It would be a huge loss if Sammy is not on this team long term. 85% of the time he touches the ball we get a first down. 21% of the time he touches the ball we get a TD. Those are tops with Rams receivers. Imagine if he was 1st in targets instead of 4th. Sammy consistently beats his man each game. Goff just needs to look his way more. Those watching all 22 can confirm this or not. But thby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Just wow! These are so cool. Brings so much more color to the game than just going by what I see on TV. Many thanks for taking the time to do these. Definitely makes following the Rams a lot more interesting. Go B&G! Edit: And I'm learning so much more about football also. Thanks again!by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
You're right. Rush got to him pretty quick. And Goff had to buy time with his athleticism. But... Watkins came open before Goff hit the numbers so angle would not have been that bad. And I feel like I've seen him make that throw before. I will try to look for it. All he needs is a phone booth right.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
I think that's one thing that Goff needs to improve on to get to the next level is to take the shot and anticipate the route to come open instead of waiting for a big window. The windows are only going to get smaller in the playoffs. Plus, Reynolds is a 6' 3" deep threat with a step on a smaller DB. Goff had plenty of time to set his feet and fling that thing for 50 yards. A shot woulby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Last drive in the 4th. 3rd and 10. Rams down by 2. Looks like Eagles play Cover 3. Kupp makes safety think post but goes cross instead and comes open. Goff running out of time but enough time to make the throw to Kupp. Goff throws to a crowd where Watkins is instead. Completion to Kupp here would be for a huge gain since left 3rd safety is running the other direction. Result Rams lose insteby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Late 2nd. Score 21-14 Eagles. Great play design against Cover 1 Man. This would be a TD if Sully didn't miss his block. We will probably see this play again.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Mid 2nd. Score 21-14 Eagles. Looks like Eagles play Cover 1 Man. Rush 5. Goff is flushed to his right but has time. Watkins beats his man and jukes the deep safety to get open. Kupp also comes open. A completion to Kupp here would be for a good gain. Completion to Watkins would be for a score. Throwaway from Goff instead. Drive results in 5 and out.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Late 1st. Score 14-7 Eagles. Rams D have been on the field a lot with little rest. Eagles play Cover 3. Rush 4. Designed roll out to the right. Goff has time. Reynolds gets a step against right 3rd defender. Goff doesn't see him and holds ball. Completion to Reynolds here would be for a huge gain if not a TD. Play ends up in sack instead. Mid 1st Q. 3rd and 10. Score at 7-7. Rams D just defended a 7+ minute drive ending in a TD. Looks like Eagles play Cover 3. Rush 5. Goff has time. Watkins comes open in the seam. Mid 3rd safety running away from Watkins. Completion to Watkins here would've been a huge gain if not a TD. Check down to Everett instead for 3 and out. Rams D back in after only a couple of minutes rest.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Maybe it's because Austin missed a ton of training camp. He could still be behind on route concepts, audibles and timing with QB. I don't think it's because Austin is lacking in skill because McVay has had some high praises of what Austin brings to the Rams. Go Tavon Austin! Edit: McVay did have Tavon on a deep route last week. At least on one occasion.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Don't get me wrong I'm super happy the Rams beat the Saints. My excitement is slightly tempered that Saints were missing both starting CB's and that Goff missed on at least a couple of TD throws. Game shouldn't have been close. Goff looked much better on his progressions though. He was able to find the open receiver even with pressure. He just needs to get his timing down with the other WR's.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Is it really crazy to say that Goff did really well against bad teams but struggled against playoff caliber defenses? Just look at his game logs. Is it really crazy to say that for a QB to be a franchise QB, he needs to show that he can do well against playoff caliber defenses? You are focused on Goff's potential. I'm focused on what he's done so far. That's the diff. And judging fromby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
It's been really fun watching my Rams this year. Sometimes I wonder if I'm not dreaming. The Rams are 7-3 and Goff went from one of the worst QB's to take the field in 15 years, to top 10 in ratings. Offense went from the worse two years running to one of the best this year. Having said that. I'm still on the wait and see camp on Goff. Goff is a natural thrower with great poise, and hiby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Gavin, it's just another game. Same game you've been playing since you were 6. Trust in your preparation, your abilities and your teammates. Take it one play at a time and have fun. I'm reminded of Joe Montana's story in Super Bowl XXIII. Niner's were down 13-16 with only 3 min left. They're at their own 8 yard line. Montana calmly walks to the huddle and points at the stands and says to hby govane - Bucky's Pub
Early fourth. Vikes on previous drive made the score 14-7. Rams driving. Rams pick up the blitz. Watkins comes open for the first down. Goff throws to a covered Kupp instead. Kupp can't make the tough catch.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
He was ready to throw right here. Judging by Goff's head position, he's looking at middle of field. He should have seen Smith leaving help on Watkins and knew that Watkins in route would be open.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Early 2nd. Game still tied at 7. Rams driving. Vikes show cover 1. Then shift to 2 deep look. Then play Cover 3 zone. Seam to Everett is open. Middle 1/3 defender gets sucked in by the short in. Watkins is one on one on the outside. Completion to either Everett or Watkins here would have been huge. Goff is a pure passer. He can make these throws. He just have to see it. Rams up 7-0. Ball at their own 10. 3rd down and 10. Rams defense just stopped Vikes on a 7 min drive. Goff takes a 5 step drop from a shotgun snap. Doesn't see Watkins open for the first down. Goff gets sacked at the one instead. Vikes gets a short field on the punt and ties the game. Conversion here would've been huge. Read the help defense young man.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff just needs to get better at recognizing where the single coverage is. TA lined up at WR and beat his man.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Good point on Tampa 2. MLB on Tampa 2 has deeper drop than standard Cover 2. But Goff can make that throw. Plus, all he had to do was wait for MLB to commit to Gurley and middle will be open. Goff had time to do that. And the MLB did commit to Gurley even before the scramble. And after the scrammble, middle opened up more. If Goff kept eyes downfield he would've seen a wide open Kupp.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Another play on 3rd FG drive. Could've been for a big gain to give Rams better chance for TD. Goff scrambles right instead and throws the ball away.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks for these B&G. Here a couple that we could've scored on. Both on the second FG drive beg of 2nd Q. These are not a knock on our QB. I think he did great regardless. Keep your eyes downfield young man.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
In the first half, I thought Texans were disguising their coverages well. I noticed that once Goff changed the play at the LOS, Texans shifted their players. In the second half when Rams were successful, I felt like when Rams went to hurry up they just went quick snap with original play instead of changing the play at LOS. This was the case on the 94 yard bomb. I wonder if this caught Texansby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
How many of those were from a hurry up offense where comms to McVay were still on. Did Goff really change the play himself, or was McVay able to see how the def lined up and told Goff the new play call before the radio cut off at 15 seconds. Good thing to watch is how many plays is Goff changing with less than 15 seconds on the clock. Not to take anything way from Goff. He still needs toby govane - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamsFanSinceLA Maybe Goff sees that one guy (can't tell who it is, a linebacker?) that is running towards Watkins and he quickly calculates that by the time he turns his head to the right and Watkins breaks free, that guy would be in a good position to defend the pass. I don't know, just speculating, but it looks possible to me. It's very possible. But this is where B&G would say...by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff looked right originally. He should've recognized that Sherman had outside shade on Watkins. He had a clean pocket and had enough time. As soon as he saw Thomas sprint to his left, Goff should have known that Watkins will be open going to middle of the field. Here's still before the throw. Thomas already way out of position for a throw to Watkins.by govane - RamsFootballFans.com
