My dad also saw action in the Pacific during WW II. After the war he was in the reserves, and in 1950 is was time for him to re-up. He went back and forth trying to decide if he should before finally deciding not to. Two months later the Korean war broke out. He use to always tell me if he had signed up for another hitch in the reserves I likely wouldn't be here.
