To the group -

We are in the midst of testing out a new server that we will be moving to in the coming weeks. Our current server is being decommissioned in 60 days due to being outdated from a hardware perspective that can no longer be supported. The new server is a beast, but there's always the chance that with newer server software and hardware, that we can have issues with our message board software.

The move will be handled via a two-phased approach -

1. Testing phase (which has begun)
2. Transition phase (not yet scheduled - awaiting the results of the testing phase)

So, what does that mean? Basically, once we've completed the testing phase, everything here will be moved to the new box during the transition phase, and you shouldn't really see much, if any impact AFTER the transition phase. But there will be the potential for various service interruptions throughout the transition process that will be discussed when we dial in a date for the final move.

As stated above, we are currently in the beginning stages of the testing phase. We have a cloned version of the message board software and database running on the test server (this was completed last night). We will be putting it through its paces to see if everything checks out. We will also be asking several of you to test for us at some point in the near future, so keep an eye on your PM box for more info in the coming days. Feel free to PM me if you want to be included in any testing that's to be done.

Please be aware that you may receive some strange notifications from the testing instance that's running due to thread subscriptions and the like. If you get something board related in your email from the message board software that is not from ramsrule.com, now you'll know why. ;-)

We may also throw up some different software options for testing to see if we can find something more modern that would fit our needs, and if that is done, the same testing rules would apply. We'll be sure to reach to you for testing requests if/when that happens.

As always, I want to thank everyone here for being loyal fans of both the Rams and our message board system. You guys/gals have made our community something truly special over the 20+ years we've been together.

Everyone stay safe out there, and here's to as pain-free of a server move as possible! Cheers! beer cheer smiley

Troy
