was probably in Wichita Falls during our drought.. they implemented a water "reuse" program where all "used" water was retained and sent back to the water plants.. this is basically sewer water, which sounds disgusting, but our lake levels were down to 11%, so totally necessary.. we were the only people to ever attempt it and I have to admit, it sounded so disgusting to us that we got a 5 gallon water dispenser and started having water delivered..
So, yes, it was SO disgusting that they ran the water several times through the normal cleaning process and the end result was water that was cleaner that probably any other tap water in history.. But, then in one weekend, we had a major flood and the lakes overflowed and lost so houses got flooded out (typical Texas weather) and they dismantled the temporary reuse program.. but then decided to permanently implement the system (for future droughts) and installed it - not sure if its running yet or not..
We still have bottled water delivered...
