For some reason I've always been a big fan of the Zeros.. In WWI I actually liked the German Albatross the most - even more than the Fokker DR1 Richthofen flew.. by all accounts I've read, Richthofen preferred the Albatross, as well..
No offense, Gator, but seems like the opposition always had cooler looking machines than the US.. Granted the Corsair was cool, but man, Messerschmidt 109's and 262's and even British Spitfires, to me, were cooler looking planes..
We had better looking bombers, tho.. Give me a B-17 any day..
Zero-wise I found this:
"Nearly 11,000 Zeros have dwindled to only two airworthy specimens: The Commemorative Air Force flies one, and the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California, flies the other."
I think that's just in the US.. I did read where one flew in Japan not too long ago..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
