It's not uncommon at all for me to have to find a 'very old' app to handle specific file types so I can reuse them. Mostly having to do with video but occasionally some others.
Apple is notorious for 'bricking you'... but then, I think all tech companies are like that. Which reminds me...
I've lost count of how many times I've purchased some of my favorite songs... let's see... there were 78's, then 45's, then 33's... reel to reel, cassettes 4, 8 and 4+8 tracts, CD's, DVD's, Digital... Geez... Led Zepplin got rich on me alone.
