what a great movie to choose last night in preparation for Dayona today. I'm fired up. This ain't about NASCAR... it's about the movie.
2 grandsons and I rented and watched Ford vs Ferrari last night. No spoilers... at least I don't think I'll include spoilers.
Absolutely LOVED the movie... which you need to take with a grain of salt because anything 'racing' I'm genetically evolved to like. Never the less... I think nearly anyone who watches this movie is bound to like it if not love it. It's made so well, the acting is superb. Then there are the 'cars'... WOW. If you're prone to envy like I am you're in trouble...
That 'sound'... of a gasoline engine with power... ain't nothing else quite like it, is there? I should have seen this in a theater... would have been better... BUT... I do have a great sound system in my living room so it was great.
Grandson's... loved it. The dialogue in this movie is fantastic... 'down to earth and real'... to me anyway. This is how people I grew up with talk, (for the most part). Most dialogue in movies today while under the 'guise' of being 'real' is NOT, IMHO... everyone I know and grew up with cusses... but no one I have ever known uses the "F" word, like in today's movies, every 3rd word in every sentence they utter. Male and Female alike. It's getting worse around here, however.
Mom's at local sporting events make Sailers from the 60's, 70's, seem like tent evangelists in comparison. But it's not the 'cussing', or lack of, that impressed me the most... it's just the flow and thought behind the dialogue that I found appealing.
Going in I thought sure it would be the 'cars' that most impressed me..... it wasn't... it was the 'characters'; and THAT not limited to just the two leading actors.
Rousing thumbs up from me... BUT... and again, I'm genetically geared to love nearly any racing movie. - JamesJM
