I was in the Army... 1970-73.... Germany in 72 and 73. I had very little access to what was going on in the music scene, movie scene, in the USA.
Yes, we had Armed Forces Network But.... since they had to play a variety of programming popular music was only on for a short time each day, and never when I could hear it.
Ok... what I'm getting at.... all the very popular songs during that time period I DID NOT HEAR... or damn few anyway. For YEARS after I got home I'd hear what I thought was a new song and friends would say, "Are you kidding, that came out 10 years ago".
