I'm with ya Steve....

I have never lived in a 'very' cold location.... I have visited many but that's not the same as living there, not even close.

Where I lived in Germany was normally very cold but the winter I was there was extremely mild.

The coldest weather I ever lived in was in Belmar, New Jersey... half a block from the ocean. It was nothing like "Gunnison" but it was below freezing most days PLUS.. it was windy... and when it's down to about 10 degrees with a 20mph wind it's unbearable.

I remember one day my wife and I tried walking to beach in less than 10º weather... and the TV was reporting that with the wind the wind chill factor made it -17º. Walking WITH the wind we made it to the beach.... but returning back to our apartment... against the wind... and a mere ½ block away... we almost didn't make it.
