Used to think about that all the time as a kid

In the 70's , it seemed sitcoms transitioned from the suburbs to the inter city

from the Brady Bunch to Welcome Back Kotter

Bob Newhart , The Jeffersons , Welcome Back Kotter , One day At A Time , Good Times

having to live in a high rise just seemed so foreign to me

always remember watching Welcome Back Kotter and the kids could travel from one building to another , just from going from one fire escape to another , always thought that would be pretty cool , or just hanging out on the fire escape and watching the city below , or hanging out on roof tops

one thing that always baffled me , having to carrier your groceries up an elevator , always seemed like a huge pain in the Censored Smiley

and the other thing , now I wasn't very old at the time , but the opening of The Bob Newhart Show had me hypnotized every week

watching him walk and walk and walk , just to catch a train , so he could walk and walk and walk some more

every week , every time that phone rang and that music started , it would stop me in my tracks , had to stop and watch
