Its all the hardware and extra crap that makes being a musician so dang expensive.. Sure, I can add another guitar, but then its another $150 for the case, $50 for another guitar stand, $50 worth of leather to make another strap, $30 worth of new strap locks.. they just nickel and dime ya to death.. and I know drums are worse..
Its weird.. you'd think cymbals all kinda sounded the same, drums too - especially if they use the same dimensions and wood etc.. I've mentioned several times before I have two IDENTICAL Jacksons - same model, same wood, same modifications.. heck, they're only about 100 apart in serial numbers, but they sound completely different.. the white one is FAT and chunky and perfect for rhythm, the Bengal striped is trebly and more for soloing.. makes no sense..
I'm actually excited to get this guitar is.. I saw one in a store years ago and have been kicking myself for not buying it back then.. It'll never make it on stage, tho - I only pay the Rhoads models onstage cuz they fit me like a glove.. But hopefully this guitar adds a spark under my lazy butt to learn some new technique, or something.. Here's hoping...
