terrible isn't it? That I can't remember how many times I've seen EJ. My wife has seen him 1 more than I have... she was at the big Dodger Stadium concert back in the day... I was harvesting cotton and couldn't go.
He never failed to 'wow' me. Even when he did his solo tour, (no band, only him on piano), and I did NOT want go thinking it would suck but my wife made me... it turned out to be fantastic.
First time I saw him was in Germany... 1972 I think? I wrote about that here... it was the concert when they lost power so he played acoustic on the song "Tiny Dancer" and brought the house down.
EJ I often use as an example of that type of entertainer who possesses some other-worldly gift... he's magic, and that magic infects his audiences... much like Elvis, who possessed the same gift. I saw Elvis once... and was not a big Elvis fan when I saw him, (my wife was), so I fought going, lost the fight, went, and was wow'd... not expecting to be.
Of course there are several others who possess this 'magic'... but it's still a rare talent to possess.
