My mom grew up in Germany during WWII.. Grandfather was lieutenant colonel in the German army - he actually hug with Richthofen in WWI.. he spent 3 years in a Russian Gulag, but was released when he contracted shingles and they didn't want him infecting the whole camp.. Mo's house had a bomb go through the roof down to the basement and not explode.. she was attacked by P-38's at a rain station at age 13 and an Officer pulled her into a bunker claiming she was his wife to save her life.. She had TONS of stories just like that, so, yeah, I dig WWII stories..
..and yeah, I finally bought a leather WWII Luftwaffe pilot's jacket and had it delivered two weeks ago, which has become my favorite jacket to wear...

Crazy that your mom grew up in Germany during that time...I bet she has some crazy stories.... I watched the episode last night about the bombing of Dresden
What a nightmare it must have been for the German civilians during that time.
