At the end of the 'top section' of our stadium they built a platform, over the seats; and this about 4 years ago or so. Speculation ran wild... "What was it for?".
As it turns out it was built for a radio station that broadcasts our games.... but I think it's one of those 'local', (very local), radio stations that has a very limited broadcast area. I've heard it while in Kerman... I'm not sure you can hear the station away from Kerman. It's possible it's a 'one man' project... the 'announcer' being the one man. I don't know how old he is but I do know he was in High School with my oldest grandson so he's at most 20.
Until this year I filmed all the games... so I would often be near the radio platform to get a 'clear' view without fans standing in front of me... and so I spoke to this announcer a few times - AND, I could hear his commentary as the game progressed. He is actually pretty darned good. He is not, however, very educated in the game of football... he's not BAD... but he struggles a bit with formations and play types.
Today... since he's come to know me somewhat, he will go to commercial break and question me about things.. getting the terminology straight, an officials hand signal, etc. So anyway.. my point:
I admire this kid. Frankly I don't think most people are even aware of his 'live radio broadcasts'... and that's too bad. He usually broadcasts alone, on the platform.. but does occasionally have what I guess is a 'color commentator'. He loves doing this. This last game he learned that my grandson is the QB... he had made a 'contact' to the inner workings of the Kerman Lions.
I was bombarded with questions. He is enthusiastic.
I wish this kid well, and great success... and with 'shame' I don't know his name... I'm going to ask him at the next game. - JamesJM
