Believe it or not
even after a heavy snow fall , we're still not usually driving through deep snow
for the most part , unless it's more then just a couple inches , we just don't go anywhere until the snow plows are out
obviously , we're talking about the timing of the snow , but usually the Snow Plows are out by 4:00 AM the next morning and most all main roads are open
if you live in the town where you work or go to school , it shouldn't be much of a problem at all , you simply wait for the plows to go by , then go about your business like nothing happens...................lol
most of the time spent waiting for the snow plows is digging out your own driveway and sidewalks and / or your vehicles that sit outside
both the wife and I work in a different town then where we live , so we do have to take county black tops to work part of the way , but even those are usually cleared by the time we go to work ,there will be a few times a year we will have to call in and say we are going to be late , or we might leave early , depending on the timing of the snow , or , if the blizzard is in mid form , we just do go to work at all and just stay home
and many times thats more to do with day light hours then the actual snow it's self , I hate driving in heavy snow after dark , your visibility goes down to nothing
but this is Iowa , you know it's coming and you simply just plan ahead
but the thing with snow tires is , we're not usually plowing through two feet of snow , it's after the snow plows have been out and the roads get that icy glaze on top , we spend way more time driving on snow glazed roads and ice covered roads then we ever do driving though the snow it's self , and if you live somewhere where there are alot of hills ....................good luck with that.....................lol
now obviously , these are just general thoughts , and depending on the situation , it might be different for certain individuals
the snow doesn't bother me , the ice on the other hand.......................
