Which is actually in my original post.. I made this one with 3/4 inch plywood with a dark gray kind of formica over it, surrounded in metal corners and stuff.. its served me well for about 20 years.. I've always had a thing for glass guitars (I do have one - it weighs a TON) and decided I wanted to redo my pedal board in Plexi (glass wouldn't work cuz it'd break and be a ton) so you could see all the wiring and guts and stuff inside..
What really got the ball rolling was that I got 3 new guitar effects pedals.. 2 of them are painted fluorescent colors (if you'll notice, all my other pedals in this pic here are normal drab colors) and I just got two massive DMX LED black lights for the show, so I've been in a fluorescent mood lately.. I wanted to mount black lights inside this new board to illuminate the fluorescent effects pedals,, since they would be mounted inside, I'd need the main structure to be made of plexiglass, so the black lights inside would show through and illuminate the pedals.. then I decided to pin stripe the board, just to get more fluorescent stuff on it as well as change my sst logo (on front in chrome) to fluorescent lime green.. Hopefully that wasn't as confusing as it sounded to me..
Shot version - plexi so the black lights inside the board will show through and illuminate everything on the board.. But plexi is flexible and not as solid, so gotta install lots of supports and brackets and corner trim to strengthen it..
