having met several noted musicians as well I have found it odd how it 'usually', not always, is two extremes... very friendly, down to earth... and then just raging a$$holes.
I think I told you how this last July we played at a music fest in a very remote area of Oregon.. with headliners Craig Morgan, Sawyer Brown, Trace Adkins, and Dwight Yoakam. Craig, Sawyer Brown, Trace ALL just regular 'folk'... great fun to be with, talk too..... I did NOT meet Dwight BUT....
The lady who put on the concert, (her Dad's Oregon Ranch), told us he was a nightmare... egotistical, snobbish, wouldn't talk to anyone unless it was to complain. Now that's not ME saying that... it was her... so I can't say for sure.... but some of the demands she told us he made WERE outlandish and childish.
I think the friendliest "Star Musician" I ever had the good fortune to meet... I went to a party at his house in SF... was Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. You don't get anymore 'down to earth'. Sidenote: Loved the guy but my biggest surprise was the diversity of music he had in his collection... he listened to EVERYthing... from classical, to country, to R&B... you name it. - JamesJM
