I was in basic WAY back in 1970... since then I've traveled extensively in the south and you bet... I've had the 'good stuff'... and you're absolutely right.. it can be as good as anything 'legal'.

Probably the best I ever tasted was when I stopped at a little general store on my way to the Shiloh Battlefield. I got to talking to the locals and ended up spending an entire afternoon with them... friendliest people I've ever met. About half way thru my visit with them they broke out the 'good stuff'... never admitting it was 'shine'... but it was. It was delightful. Being on a motorcycle, however, and with some miles to go that day I only had one shot, (albeit a healthy one), then spent a few hours letting it settle before heading off.
