1976 because it was the nation's bi-centennial. It wasn't just celebrated for that one day... but was celebrated throughout the year so it was unique. There was a sense of patriotism and pride that I don't think I've seen or felt since. I remember the ABC coverage of the 4th of July celebrations in New York City including a magnificent parade of ships in the New York harbor.
