What is THE best way to gain weight for a 20 year old??

Took my oldest to the USAF Recruiter last week and found my Son is TWENTY pounds under weight. The kid is just like I was. SUPER metabolism! When I was young, I tried those GNC weight gain powders but they tore my stomach to hell. Have those improved over the last 30 years? My Son IS also starting some weight training.
