Yea , our black dirt will absorb a lot of rain

trouble is , in early Spring , when all that snow starts to melt , our ground is still frozen , and thus , can't absorb any of the water

but once the ground thaws , it will absorb the water pretty quickly . trouble is , it's that week or two in between that can destroy a lot of things

I'm always amazed when we see places in Arizona , where they might get like a 1/4 of an inch of rain and entire cities will be flooded , while here 1/4 barely even registers a blip
