There is a place on the big island where the wind "howls" 24-7. They tried to open up a new housing tract there several years ago and people who had bought kept telling us "don't buy here-this wind is ALL the time". Sure enough every time we were in the area it was like being in a dry hurricane. We were on horseback and our guide said hold on to those reins as the wind is going to spook these horses and you will be in for a long ride. Sure enough.
