my son-in-law and two oldest grandson's are thinking about going... at least one day.
I have actually played golf with a few professional golfers... but I have only been to one other pro tournament... the Pro Am at Pebble, and that many years ago. The hi light of that day was almost getting hit by an errant approach to the green shot by Kevin Costner... it hit 3 rows in front of me in the bleachers surrounding the 18th green.
Playing with Pros - - - is frustrating. And no, it's not helpful... oh I suppose it could be helpful and perhaps is for those golfers with calm demeanor and an immunity to tantrums but I'm not one of those golfers.
Pro, "Jimmy, you could try......."
Me Interrupting, "If I want your #$#@$# advice I'll ask for it".
There is also a lot of humiliation involved in playing with Pros. I was once in a 4-some with a semi-pro, behind us was a 4-some with Craig Stadler, (The Walrus)... I hit my best drive of the day... right at 300yds dead middle of the fairway. The Walrus teed off a little early, shouted "FOUR"... and flew us with his drive.
As a viewer, however, and not a player... they are beyond amazing to watch. If you ever go to a pro tournament DO NOT MISS OUT on heading over to the practice area and watch them warm-up... you'll be astounded.... whichever club they are warming up with their ball will be landing in an area no bigger than a doormat. Well, close to that anyway. - JamesJM
