some more than others but all worthwhile.

A part of it, I think, is personal experience. I played football, baseball, ran track and was in a few field events, drove race cars, golfed, played tennis, swam... point is: If you have some experience, (not necessarily a lot), you can appreciate more what is taking place.. and the skill and athleticism required.

Bowling is probably the most boring thing I've ever watched on TV... but I appreciate their skill, and I love to bowl.

Then sometimes it requires no experience at all... Curling fascinates me and I'm not sure I've ever been within a hundred miles of a curling venue.

Ok... off on a tangent. Beginning with the Daytona 500 I started a game with my grandkids, all 7 of them. They pick a driver, (they know little to nothing about NASCAR), and if their driver finishes ahead of the other 6 grandkids they win a prize. Also... I pick a driver and if my driver finishes best then nobody wins. So they picked 7 drivers... basically 'at random' although the oldest 3 or 4 have certainly heard some of the names, I'm sure.

So the Daytona... all 7 grandkids finished in the top 10. I thought that... remarkable. I was stunned, actually.

Yesterday we played the game again... for the 2nd time, (skipping last week's race)... and again.. all 7 finished in the top 10. Not just that... but TWICE during the race they were the top 7 cars running.

For what it's worth... my driver, in both races, finished 30th or worse.

I'm wondering if Vegas has a bet you can make matching that criteria... if so, I'm going to be fabulously wealthy very soon. - JamesJM
