So... I took my dog to the beach to get her, and me, some exercise. So we are walking for about 10 minutes. Being that it is February and there is no one on the beach, she is off her leash. And then I chase her (a game she loves) for about 6 or 7 steps which would amount to a slow jog (for 6 or 7 steps)... and ok that's it. I turn around, feel a tightness in my chest and think there is no one to help me if I drop. We walk back to the house (my aunt's place). All in all about a 20 minute walk with about 2 or 3 seconds of what you might call a jog. Take out the "jog" and I can walk pretty good. But I've noticed that even walking now is becoming harder.
I like walking but where we live isn't really great for walking or being outside.
So I had this idea a long time ago (probably inspired by the WII game console) that Nordic Track or whoever should team up with Nintendo or some game manufacturer and put out a treadmill that can be hooked up to a game console. And then you have the treadmill be part of the video/virtual experience but also very interactive. My first thought was that the game manufacturer could recreate actual streets, etc. all over the world. You walk through landmark locations and you can actually see the scenery and even interact with AI characters. Just a cool way to see the world. But you could also make it a game where you are solving a mystery (like the movie National Treasure) and the game works with your heart rate so it will have you walk faster or slower during the game to maintain your heart rate or vary it depending on the cardio workout. Of course it could be any kind of game and it can be completely fictional or it can be historical (Middle ages... meet Lucy, lol)
It just seems like that would make working out a bit more fun. And Nordic Track and Nintendo could just keep releasing new titles at ridiculously high prices. Everyone wins. I can tell you to do a Paris tour where I walk thru the Notre Dame Cathedral, Louvre or just walk along the Seine or the streets of Paris with or without a tour guide... I would pay a good deal to do that IF my treadmill is part of the interactive experience.
