I was recently speaking with my 2nd oldest grandson and trying to figure out why he likes baseball 'least' of the 3 sports he plays in HS. IMHO his best sport is baseball... but he prefers football, #1, and basketball #2. The answer:
He's a catcher... in years past he had a truly great catcher that he alternated with playing infield when he wasn't catching... but the other kid graduated last year and is now the starting QB for Wyoming. This year the team doesn't really have a good 2nd catcher to alternate with. So ok... 'knees'....
My grandson is concerned because since football is his priority, and he's the starting QB... the wear and tear on his knees will effect him come football season. I never played catcher... but from what I hear it's VERY hard on your knees.
Back to the snow.... that's interesting because no one, or at least me, ever really thinks of 'knee injury' as a factor in skiing... but I should have. It's only obvious. In fact, other than football I can see how skiing could possibly be the worst for knee injuries.
through my 'working' years I was always in good shape... I'd go skiing and feel no effects at all after a day on the slopes no matter HOW hard and long I skied. Then there is today.
At first I refused to 'back off'.. going up the chair as many times as I possibly could.... then the next day moaning in agony. I did, however, come to my senses eventually and now I'll take time off during the day and I probably make ΒΌ of the number of runs I used to make in a day. Of course, I still moan the next day.
