It began snowing in the St Louis area around 12:30 pm. They've been predicting all week that a heavy snow was coming today. At first they said 5"-8" accumulation. Now they're saying 8"-12". Frank has already shoveled the driveway 3 times and this snowfall has a long way to go. It's supposed to snow all night and all day torrow ending around midnight. My daughter called early this morning and asked if I'd pick up Everett (2 1/2 yr old grandson) from pre-school because the school was going to close at NOON due to the weather. The pre-school is about a 30 min drive one-way from my house. So, I went and picked him up and brought him back to my house. Kara was going to then pick him up after work. I knew 5:00 traffic would be a mess and encouraged her to leave early. I got "Oh, mom.... it'll be fine". Well, the doctor she works for finally told her around 1:30 to head for home. It takes her about 30 min to get from her job to my house and then another 30 min to travel from my house to her house on a good day. Due to the weather and the fact that the tires on her car are as bald as Kojak's noggin, she barely made it to my suburb and then couldn't make it up the hill where I live to get Everett. The news is chock full of traffic issues all over. It's a nightmare. So reluctantly Kara decided it was best to leave Everett with me for the weekend and she went to a convenience store nearby to wait for her husband to come pick her up. She plans to leave her car at the store for a couple of days (I hope they don't tow it!). So we'll probably have Everett until sometime Sunday or Monday. That's fine except the frickin' Rams-Cowboys Divisional game is TOMORROW NIGHT and I had planned to watch that game LIVE and without interruptions, especially from a pre-schooler. That ain't gonna happen now. The DVR is set. That's the best I can do. Ugh.
