The Safety was without question a blown call by the officials... and not just 'blown'... one of the worst, most inexcusable, calls ever.
The final play by SJM I understand... even though many are complaining about it I think they 'may' have got it right. I say 'may' because the 'spot' may have been in error but having called him down it was the correct call. The announcers were completely 'lost' on that call... I think they thought a PI was an automatic 1st down in High School.
Last SJM series and penalties brings up an interesting question about PI in High School. Had SJM NOT been 1st and goal, and with room walk off the full penalty for PI they would have had a first down on the PI... but because they were near the goal they couldn't get a 1st down other than a penalty that comes WITH an automatic 1st down. In essence... penalized for being too close to the goal.
