I first coached back in the mid-70's. Me and 4 other guys started the youth football program in my home town. I was the first head coach.

The kids on that first team are now in their 50's. I run into some of them often... and it's always, "Hey Coach".

I then took several years off... until my 2nd oldest grandson started playing... different town. I always teased him that although I rooted for him in "RED"... which is Kerman's colors, at heart I'd always be a Blue and Gold guy, my home town's colors.

I was taken by surprise last night.... One of the HS coaches was the HC of that last team I helped Coach.... he was talking about the kids being together since Mighty Mites and called me up on stage. I'll include one of the photos. The photo actually has a couple players not on that first team, (they joined a year later), and also a parent that didn't coach that team but did coach them later.

My grandson, whom I have my arm around, top left... is actually a year younger than all the other kids in this photo... but he always played 'up' a year... so these are his teammates. He has a year to go but all his teammates are graduating.. he's heart-broken about it.
