after about a week after being adopted.. We are so crushed, but not surprised.. Baxter had some issues and needed time to go through training before being put up for adoption, but he wasn't given that time, so now he sits alone in a crate in New York.. We found out about him Saturday night and have been trying to come up with a plan for him..
We have offered to get him training, but tough to do that while we're in Texas and he's in New York.. We have offered to go get him, bring him back here, and then have him trained here - at our expense - but our ideas are, so far, falling on deaf ears.. I am beginning to have serious doubts about this adoption program - one that does not allow the fosters to keep the dog, no matter what.. one that does not give the dog time to overcome issues in order to be a happy, healthy member of a new family.. and one that does not welcome input from foster families trying to help a dog with their own time and money because THEY have the dog's best interests at heart..
Yes, Underground Express has thousands of successful adoptions, but in Baxter's case, he's a problem child and this agency is way too concerned with numbers to do what's right for him.. but, we aren't giving up on Baxter.. they don't know us in New York, so if we hafta go adopt him incognito to help him, then I'm sure we will...
